I want chocolate cake. The end.

GsyPotatoPieEyed · 28/10/2012 23:38

Hope it helps Smile

Kittycatcat · 29/10/2012 03:41

Awful night with s last night. He ended up in with us. And he spent the entire day pretty much, moaning, melting down and crying. And my brother and his family came to visit so not v nice for them. S wouldn't do cuddles or anything. Think it's his teeth, just the back ones left and they are really causing him probs. his cheeks were v red yest and he's always got his fingers in his mouth. Se to be havin a better night so far , but we gave him teething gel and nurofen at bed time.
I'm hoping I'll get discharged at my 6 week check wed and we can start getting out and about again. Can't have been easy for s being home most of the time.

How's everyone else?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/10/2012 07:23

Sounds horrid Kitty.

Have you checked with your car insurance? A lot aren't worried about being discharged after section before you can drive.

Half term continous today ......

Kittycatcat · 29/10/2012 08:26

I haven't ilike. I'll drive from Wednesday regardless. I've been allowing the extra time cos of lifting the boys in and out of the car. I've been alot more cautious this time round but that's more cos of s' weight. They said I shouldn't lift him til ten weeks which is ridic. A is 6 weeks today.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/10/2012 08:33

Ah yes, I didn't think about the whole lifting thing.

How is your scar doing?

Ds3 has a horrid cold which is making him miserable and grumpy - such fun!

Kittycatcat · 29/10/2012 08:35

They are no fun at all when grumpy are they. Sad

Scars on the mend at last tho the bit that was swabbed still hurts now and then (if I overdo it)

GlaikitFizZombie · 29/10/2012 15:50

Oh kitty B I constantly gnawing his hands just now too so he must feeling his teeth, but touch wood, not been grumpy yet.

I was at a wool,y hug meet up today in Glasgow. More cake and chat than knitting but it was lovely. B is now recovering by having a nap and I'm having a cuppa and hobnob!

Watching the rolling news about hurricane sandy! Looks terrifying! I can't imagine New York being closed!

Kittycatcat · 29/10/2012 16:06

Thanks Grin. S just sleep for 2hrs40. Needed. I had an hour.

It's awful isn't it. Sad

fraktion · 29/10/2012 16:15

M had a huge sleep today as well. I dread bedtime now. Need to go and walk him for half an hour or so to tire him out again.

Glad the scar seems to be on the mend kitty do you know how to make microwave chocolate cake? Always helps me!

Fizz do you knit for wooly hugs? I would love to but being here makes it logistically difficult :(

GlaikitFizZombie · 29/10/2012 16:25

I do Frak, there are knitters all over the world so don't let that Put you off. I only started knitting at the beginning of the year to join in with the blanket projects and I'm really enjoying it. Obviously the reason behind the blankets are so so sad, but I think it's really helped with my pnd, to have a hobby I and pick up and put down, that doesn't make too much mess, and releases a bit of stress.

If getting the yarn is the problem let me know and I can post to you.

Microwave chocolate cake????? :)

Kittycatcat · 29/10/2012 18:14

Ooooo yeah. A cup of sugar so on. I've got the recipe somewhere. Oh god I need it NOW.

Kittycatcat · 29/10/2012 18:17

cake recipe

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

a small splash of vanilla extract

1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

GlaikitFizZombie · 29/10/2012 18:19

B has just puked everywhere! I need chocolate cake!

Kittycatcat · 29/10/2012 19:50

Awh no. Hugs to u both

fraktion · 29/10/2012 20:55

:( fizz

I think I need cake too. M, as predicted, has only just gone down. It would be cute that he now says 'byebye milka' when he's drained one side followed by 'other side' to signal that he's not done but when you've done both sides 5 times it gets old. He did however say 'lie down' and went to sleep without the boob!

Oh and you should all fill this consultation in, even if you don't use and never even plan to use a nanny. I need parents to balance my stats Thanks

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/10/2012 21:39

I started to knit a couple of weeks ago, but mine isn't good enough for woolly hugs yet - it's truly shocking. I've wanted to knit for ages but the woolly hugs have spurred me on. Especially Bea's inspiring story.

It's ds1' remember day next week, so it's a crappy time of year for me, and reading Cupoftea's eloquent and equally heart breaking posts has been difficult Such an amazing family.

It's lovely to hear how much you have enjoyed knitting and how much it has helped you Fizz [hsmile]

I did chuckle at M Frakk, but I know if that was me it would be driving me crackers.

I hope the puke is a one off Fizz. Poor B and poor whoever had to clear it up.

Daisy17 · 30/10/2012 08:02

Think I'm going to need that cake today......any of you experienced mums out there have any good tips on tweaking a toddler's inner bodyclock?! What was a grim but bearable 530 is now a totally insupportable 430......despite bedtime having successfully gone forward an hour with no problems. Argh! :( Couldn't even get him to drop off in bed with me as I normally can. Just WIDE AWAKE and very cross about being "shtuck!" in his sleeping bag in the dark.....

Daisy17 · 30/10/2012 08:05

However, there was no puking, for which I am eternally grateful. Hope all ok, Fizz. Tuesday hugs all round from Mrs Sleep Deprived Grumpy Pants......Grin

UnderwaterCasketWeaving · 30/10/2012 19:53

Oh no, hope the puking was short-lived, Fizz.

Frak, that sounds frustrating, I salute your stamina. I am mean. F gets one go on each side, and then hoofed off when I've had enough of him hanging on. I get all skin-Crawley after a while, it's weird.

Daisy, no suggestions, I'm afraid, unless you have an iPad, in which case beebies on iplayer or any Thomas game will often buy us another 10 mins or so. F's never been one for routine, but fortunately the earliest he starts demanding breakfast is 5ish (which is actually helpful on a normal weekday).

F's bedtime is the thing currently driving me insane. I wrote my rant out and then deleted it. And I feel better!

Also, is it just us where daddy is favourite?

fraktion · 30/10/2012 20:03

No UBW we have daddydaddydaddy too! The other day he stood by the door for 5 minutes because DH went out for the evening wailing piteously 'daddyyyyy minute daddyyyyyy no work daddyyyyy'. Every time there's a sound at the door 'daddy?', every time I talk to DH in the phone 'daddy home?'. Except at nighttime. Then we want mama.

fraktion · 30/10/2012 20:04

daisy I do a hard reset AKA keep them up late one night so their body clock adjusts to the new bed/waking up time. Persistent early waking often has other causes though. There is no way if be able to deal with 5am starts every day.

Daisy17 · 30/10/2012 20:46

Thanks, guys. :) Frak intrigued by your other causes point, do elaborate!

GlaikitFizZombie · 30/10/2012 20:49

Any man is preferable to me! Strangers in the park, the man in the shop, our borderline alcoholic neighbour all get the B charm! Where I am just big bad mummy who stops him running out in front of cars and generally spoiling his fun!!

Everything is da da da da da da, we do get mama but I'm pretty convinced he actually means banana!!

No more puke but cm reports not very pleasant nappies today, so I'll see how he is in the morning!

chillikat · 30/10/2012 20:53

Daisy many sympathies [hsad] M went through a stage of waking stupidly early, I think 5am was the worst but it's over (for now). Is he maybe a little cold - I worry about this with M and tend to put a thin blanket over her when we go to bed and she seems to be sleeping better now. I think 4-5am can be chilly and if you're on the verge of waking that could do it?

That said nap time wasn't good today - she has been sleeping about 2 hours recently but has been a struggle to get down - I've been feeding her to sleep when a long walk in the pushchair stopped working. Now she wriggles so much when feeding, putting her head one side, then the other, trying to climb onto me, etc all while latched on. This is only at nap time - morning and bedtime feeds are wriggle free, if anyone has any idea why or how to stop it I'd be grateful.

I'm [henvy] (I think) of all the words that everyone else's toddlers seem to have - we still don't have much beyond 'hiya' and 'bye bye', I think 'daddy' might be a new addition but it's not very clear. Most of the time I'm translating various forms of 'gah' which generally seems to mean 'what's that?' or 'look at those pigeons'. She's got loads of understanding though, and today took a cake wrapper to the kitchen bin for me without being asked [hgrin].

I'm trying to ignore the cake recipe.
