Ah...a 7 year old little boy. Christmas must be amazing with kids that age around. Smile I've no idea what's cool at the moment so I'm pretty hopeless with suggestions - but enjoy looking!

Can I ask you all about your sex lives? Ours is still somewhat desert-like. I've figured the only way it's not really painful, and as though there's something blocking us is if I raise my pelvis/hips (put a pillow under my lower back/bum) but it is still not the carefree rough & tumble we used to know and love. Angry

8 months in and all I want is uncomplicated sex with DH! It's not as if delivery was that traumatic either. It was quick (all three stages in a little over an hour) and I had a ventouse and a couple of stitches. Grr.

laughingGnomette · 13/12/2012 10:29

Yay for all the mobile babies!

marshmallow - I hope the move went well.

henrietta - pretty rubbish here too I'm afraid. I had a c-section but still find it painful. It's so uncomfortable (even when lubed up to the eyeballs!). We've tried once since I stopped bf and it seems slightly better but still not like the good old days! :(

N finished his course of steroids on Friday and his skin is now back to being as bad as its ever been and its now spread to his face too (I think the cold weather has played a part in this). I think it's going to be a long journey to find something that works for him.

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 13/12/2012 11:09

Oh laughing eczema is horrid. Ds1 is nowhere near as bad as your poor baby but his eczema will not go away even with steroid and has spread which is a result of the cold. If its that bad go back to the dr, they have to sort it.

Sex life, what sex life? It's my own fault as I just can't seem to be b

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 13/12/2012 11:11

Oops premature posting!

Bothered. I feel bad for dh but I really don't feel attractive or sexy, he thinks I'm amazing though. A New Years resolution is to have more sex as the more you have the easier it is and the more you want it.

christmasmummyvicky · 14/12/2012 10:31

I finding it isn't the same before child, plus too knackered and want sleep to have it that much nowa days! :(
Gone down to once every 1/2 wks, if that!

Thaleia, glad you are feeling a little more positive! :)
as for a 7yr old present- my nephew who is 6 loves Lego, and star wars and has ask for a money sorter???? I've got him some Army men with a car, which my sister thinks he will like.

christmasmummyvicky · 14/12/2012 10:34

On a lighter note, my mum is having dd for a few hours today- gonna have a rest, do nail/hair oh the list is endless!!!! :)

HenriettaTurkey · 14/12/2012 13:55

Ooh how lovely Vicky! DH has finished work now (permanently!) and so it's much easier for me around here. DH seems knackered though: who'd have thought playing with a baby was so tiring, eh? Xmas Wink

This evening I am heading to town to have drinks with a friend and DH is putting DS to bed all alone. Really looking forward to it!

What's the chance he's still awake when I get in at midnight?

christmasmummyvicky · 14/12/2012 22:20

Enjoy your drinks Henrietta, how nice! we are having a xmas meal tomorrow with friends tomorrow. finger crossed your little one sleeps a long time when U return!

This time last year we were all heavily pregnant? Remember? A least now we can have a couple of cheeky drinks, thoose who are bf still, not too many lol! :)

Just working out when im gonna stop bf now, :(
Thinking about before 1yr, so maybe feb/march time! We are only doing 4 some times 5 bf per day. Trying to stop the 8pm feed, offering with a beaker of milk with tea. So really just the 5/6am feed and the 3/4pm afternoon one and of course the random night ones! Its so easy to pop on and feed back to sleep!

Ooops posted twice! Lol x x

HenriettaTurkey · 14/12/2012 23:19

Thanks Vicky - I've had a lovely evening. Now on train home - and guess what - DS is still awake! Hmm.

christmasmummyvicky · 17/12/2012 11:28

Arhhh 2 nights of hell:(

Saturday night, we had a Xmas meal so my mum babysat dd, was fine and she settle well at when down at 730pm but woke at 11pm and we were then home at 12. she then decided to stay up till 230am. So didn't get to bed till 3am, felt knackered sick and headache, I think eaten too much and 2 glasses of wine didn't agree with me!

Last night Madame when down at 8pm then up at 11pm for a bf then up at 245am and stayed awake till 430am!!!!!
Nightmare dh then has work at 5am and she was up at 715am.

Anyone else haven't a problem with sleep? I thought she was getting better? I was wrong..... :(

JambalayaWarmMincePie · 17/12/2012 11:52

We seem to have a run of 5/6 nights where she sleeps through, and then a couple of nights when she doesnt, then back to sleeping through. No reason for it.

laughingGnomette · 17/12/2012 12:36

newmummy - our short spell of sleeping through has stopped and we've been having some not so good nights. He is currently cutting his top teeth so I believe it is down to teeth. Could this be the case for you? He is screaming a lot when he wakes and finds it hard to settle :(

He has ramped up the length of naps during the day too. On Saturday he had a three hour one and as I type he has already been down for an hour and a half for his morning nap!

He is so close to crawling!! He kind of rocks and bunny hops forward at the moment. He just needs to learn how to co-ordinate his arms.

laughingGnomette · 18/12/2012 08:24

An hour and a half of screaming at 1am this morning Xmas Sad

HenriettaTurkey · 18/12/2012 17:58

Evening all.

Oh,laughing, that's so difficult. Poor you. Better night tonight.

Trip to HV today for 8 month check. All good - we have a good'n!

HV was a bitShock when I mentioned the 6 feeds a day, sometimes for an hour a pop! So I've been encouraged to try and drop a feed or 2 in the day - which I need to get done before I go to work. Anyway, we then came home, gave him lunch (cheese omelette and cucumber) and went out. Just got home and gave him his first breast feed since 9am! And he only wanted 8 minutes. He seems bright and full of energy too. So maybe I was over reliant on milk for comfort and it's discouraged him from eating more of the lovely food we've got for him. Chicken and stir fry veg in a bit so we shall see if he is enthusiastic for this meal as he was for lunch. Have also bought a big tub of yoghurt & some little jars of fruit-only jam to mix in instead of fruit yogurts as we couldn't find any that were full fat with no/little added sugar.

Bit worried he'll have a disrupted night with less milk though.

Anyone else have a baby on loads of feeds?

VintageNancy · 18/12/2012 19:00

Hey all, not long now until the big day! All I want for Christmas is a baby who doesn't have diarrhea. She's had it a week now :(.

Hope you have a better night tonight laughing.

Hen glad check was all good :). I would say I feed Em 5 times a day with "full" feeds. Plus 2 quick ones to relax her before her naps. At the moment it's more though as she's ill.

marshmallowpies · 18/12/2012 19:27

Henrietta - yes DD is drinking a lot more now, I'm probably BFing a bit less but it's still 3 or 4 BFs during the day and 1 or 2 night feeds.

On top of that, 4 big bottles of formula when she used to have 3 big/1 small...AND food! She gets offered water at mealtimes but still not keen on that.

Not going to have time to get her weighed before Xmas so we'll have to wait till the New Year - I can see she's thriving & loving her food so I'm not too worried, but surprised to see her still so hungry.

Perhaps time to start increasing portion size? (She usually has 3 ice cubes of food each for dinner/lunch, baby cereal & 1 cube of fruit purée for breakfast).

Been getting woken once or twice at night most nights which is running us ragged as she used to sleep through, but I think it's partly due to her cough which wakes her up at night.

We moved house today so lots of disruption for her ahead...its going to be an interesting few months! Very glad the actual move is done, though.

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 18/12/2012 21:13

I lost you all, glad I've found you again!

Sorry to hear so many of you have babies with a broken sleep function, shame they're past their warranty now.

A has had his nursery settling ins now. He's taken it all in his stride and the staff already love him Xmas Grin.

We also bought a jumparoo from a work friend and he loves it.

Nordicmom · 18/12/2012 21:59

We're all sick again just after we got better from the last one :(. R's spots went away but came back in full force one day then went again . Have been trying to figure out what is causing them but no luck so far.
Now she's refusing to eat her main course completely, just sits there with a mouth full of food not chewing or swallowing. Happily would eat her yogurt and fruit though. More luck with some finger foods but she's not eating enough solids atm and her pooh's gone to horrid liquid. No new teeth just the two on the bottom. Sleeping quite well , waking once a night but tonight is restless and still crying on and off after going to bed hours ago...

christmasmummyvicky · 19/12/2012 10:44

Nordic sorry Rose is unwell again. We have a big fan of yogurt and fruit too. still doing ok with other food. loves sandwiches, fishfigers and cauliflower cheese now also.

Henrietta we buy the hipp baby yogurts or adsa own organic childrens ones. Plus a big fan of fruit pots, there is just plain fruit in them!
We do 4 bf in 24hrs, 2 at night , morning and late afternoon, dd dropped late morning one and lunchtime one a while ago. what I did was just offered food first, sometimes after but she didnt want breast. Also I sometimes think they are thristy rather than hungry? so maybe offer water instead in the day? I find when out and about she feeds less being too busy to think about it.

On development she is opening draws and cupboard and now letting go of the side and walking much more! I don't think there is much stopping her now! :)

Nordicmom · 20/12/2012 12:32

It's me and DS who are more sick . R just a bit warm and hasn't been eating so well. DH did get her to have some cottage pie yesterday though which was a first for a few days. DH is probably getting sick just in time for Christmas:(. I suddenly felt very sick yesterday and had to spend rest of the day in bed and call DH back from work. In bed still but DH had to go in for half a day so caring for DD isn't easy . Luckily DS (nearly 8y) can do most things for himself !. Tought him how to use the microwave yesterday and he made his own lunch ! I think it's my chronic illness that's making me feel so bad since it really flares up if I'm fighting a virus or something. Hope we'll be better by next week since we have lots to do for Christmas and then meant to be going to Finland for New Years.

Nordicmom · 20/12/2012 12:34

R loves the Plum baby, Yeo valley , Ella's and Rachel's organic baby yogurts and fromage frais...

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 20/12/2012 13:56

A has a cold and is not sleeping well at all. I know a lot of you have always had broken sleep but A has slept through since he was about 16 weeks so I am not used to this.

LaTristesse · 20/12/2012 21:21

Evening all. I lost you guys for a while there, too caught up in my plotting to be a SAHM! All done now bar the official notice. Bit scary but so the right thing for me.

Haven't read through everything to catch up yet but no sex here either. All entirely my fault - got referred to gynae as my libido had vanished entirely. Seems like with bf and the mini pill, my hormones have supressed any drive I once had, so I'm off to get a copper coil fitted after Christmas. Hope that'll help as I'm not planning on stopping feeding for a looong time yet.
