well madame has done it!!!! taken a few steps for the first time! Proud but slightly scared mummy! Its was round my mums me and dh had her walking between us which we sometimes do. She was getting so confident walking rounds walls, stair gate and all tables and chairs. She is 8 month on the 4th and weighing 18lb. Little chucky monkey:) we now put her in new carseat forward facing and sleeping is getting better. Only due to me getting tougher, i'm leaving her to cry a little bit. Because i dont really think she needs milk every 2-3 hrs in the night. When she goes ages in the day without a fed. So now making her do a least 6hrs then fed her at night! She only cries say for 10-15 mins then drops back of to sleep. Seems to be working. So fingers crossed soon she can go longer sleeping.

christmasmummyvicky · 02/12/2012 20:42

i forgot to say good on baby gnomette for sleeping well :) and well done baby hugs! 2 teeth :) hope he helmet works well, keep us posted x x

Thaleia · 02/12/2012 21:26

vicky wow - such an early walker. I am not sure if we have any crawling this year!!

nordic If decided against the BCG shot but only because we're moving back to Germany at some point and before he starts going to school here. Otherwise, I would have done it because we're in a high risk area since this or last year. Interesting though that Lambeth does it for years.

Still no teeth but there is pressure fom below. We thought we saw something a few weeks ago but no, nothing. And it's the same now. We'll see if and when they come.

Can't believe the WE is over already. Next week we have the office kiddie xmas party and I'm also invited to the "real" one. I need to see if any of the old outfits would still fit. I've almost got my weight back but I look a lot different now. Much more wobbly in the middle to start with sigh.

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 02/12/2012 22:03

thaleia we may not even have sitting as his front neck muscles are too weak let alone crawling etc.

HenriettaTurkey · 02/12/2012 23:11

I weigh 20lb less than before DS but my wobbly bits are bigger! And soggier...droopier...with more of DS's beautiful, permanent artwork on them. Sigh.

Good thing he's worth it. Wink

Congrats (commiserations??!) on the walker Vicky. I'm not anticipating walking for about 6 more months here. He's very chilled but gets there when he needs to!

As for carseats. We have a maxi cosi (which self corrects to maxi cost!) and isofix. Haven't even looked at next one up... Mmm.

Jellybellyrbest · 03/12/2012 00:05

Hugs; good luck with A's helmet, really hope it all goes well & that he's comfy wearing it. I think you're amazing with all the fund-raising you've been doing.

Laughing; wow to sleep. I'm dreaming of it happening again soon: but only dreaming so far :-(. Glad N's skin is improving, that's great.

Loving all the Christmas names!! Hoping to put our first fake tree up soon! Always had a real, but the last two have been pretty sad by Christmss day, so fake it is this year! Can't wait actually!

New mummy; OMG to Lyra walking!! Have to day I'm glad E can't (won't) move at all yet as the floor v often covered in unsuitable older children's toys! A lot more house proofing & observing will need to be done this time around....E sitting really well & moves onto her tummy but refuses to go further/roll. She just cries!

Have a couple of great videos I can't get uploaded to FB of E drinking from her sippy cup (the v basic Tommy Tippee), which she LOVES. Giggles lots when she's using it. She's pretty proficient & I've put formula in twice as she's not that fussed on the bottle....still EBF apart from when I'm at work on a Monday. While I'm away (9-6) she'll only take 1-3 oz. She seems to like the bottle/formula ok, just can't really be bothered! I'm thinking of skipping the bottle completely as I had a complete nightmare taking it off my 5yo...I'll hopefully BF till she's taking cow's milk from her cup well enough..I'll see though. Might change my mind next week! Had just about stopped BF both other girls by now, but I'm content enough & think I'll keep going. Life's pretty stressful ATM, with my MIL being ill & our build in full swing. Can't get a minute to think about anything much else, so it's easier to continue as we are for now. I'm enjoying it apart from the now frequent biting! OUCH!!!!!!!!

Henrietta (Turkey-brill!!!) how's the finger?

We've just put E into her Britax forward facing next stage seat (9-18kg). She seems happy! Still haven't taken her farther than a 10mile radius since the hospital trip in Sept which was so awful (MAJOR screaming for the entire hour home...). She is happier in the car generally now as she's more distractable, but on a longer journey I think the forward facing may suit her better.

Jellybellyrbest · 03/12/2012 00:16

New Mummy; I'm trying to discourage night feeds between midnight & 6am here. Really don't think they're hunger-driven. Some nights it's fine: last night E went 10 hours between feeds, but was up lots with her teeth. The night before she needed a feed at 2, which I gave her. So, gradually the night feeds are cutting down. E loves solids; both purée & finger food & whilst she still has 5-6 BF a day, they're shorter. She gets really excited at mealtimes & when she sees me eating. It's not for fun now, she really seems to need proper food. She feels way heavier recently too! She was almost 10kg last time I weighed her....

JambalayaWarmMincePie · 03/12/2012 14:54

Just wanted to let you all know, have posted in chat but will put it here too.

The police have charged the man who hit me and DD2 with Vehicle Theft, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and driving without due care and attention. He has admitted it all (under a massive weight of evidence against him) and will be in court soon.

So relieved!! Smile

HenriettaTurkey · 03/12/2012 14:57

Jambalaya, that must be a huge weight off your shoulders. I'm so pleased to hear it. Treat yourself to a warm mince pie to celebrate. Wink

Nordicmom · 03/12/2012 16:53

Jambalaya , congrats !!!! I hope he goes to jail!
My friend was hit too a few years back while crossing a road. The person drove away and wasn't caught . Luckily her daughter was on her other side so didn't get hurt. My friend got away with huge bruising on the whole one side of her body , nothing broken luckily... We're in London and I am scared of the busy traffic.
Congrats on your bebe walking Newmummy ! 9 mth is the earliest I've heard before , never 8!
Two teeth here now :) , both on the bottom. Haven't actually noticed anything different in her behaviour . She generally sleeps quite well and still wakes up once to feed around 11/12. Eating's really coming along . I still mash things with a fork but don't puree anything. She has a veg puree or a fruit puree from a pot sometimes but normally she's eating lumpy chopped food i mash a bit and with much more flavour ,spices etc. I'm trying to give more finger foods too like chopped blueberries which she liked but after DS choking incidents I'm quite careful. She's happy to try anything I offer really, specially if I pop it straight into her mouth. She seems to trust me that it'll be something yammy :)...
She hasn't been so keen on pulling up after her first times a while ago but loves standing if I pull her up ,and walking with me holding her hands. She's also doing these odd yoga poses that are like a downward dog with her hands on the floor and bottom up. Remains me DS getting to stand without support in the middle of the floor so I wonder if she's working on that?! Generally she's a really happy little curious explorer who crawls everywhere very quickly if I let her , she's definitely trouble !!! More baby proofing needed here! Haven't got stair gates yet for instance . I watch her every move ,close doors and put her into the travel cot/ her bed.
The spots are still there. They seem to heal in one place and then more appear elsewhere. She doesn't seem bothered. If they don't go soonish I'll have to book an allergy specialist. I'm baffled but wonder if it's new food for instance . She eats so many different things now that it would be a nightmare to figure out. We had a similar situation with DS but his rashes looked different. He turned not to have a food or other allergies just childhood eczema that is now better but crops up on sun holidays with the swimming pools etc.
sorry for megapost...
oh yes ,still using the same carseat , hadn't even thought of getting a new one. Last time we weighed DD she was about 8kg.

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 03/12/2012 17:09

Yay jam that's such good news!

We are still using the normal rear facing seat here. A still can't sit for long unaided because of his bonk head (I have to joke) so it's not safe for him. He still has room for now so its not too bad.

christmasmummyvicky · 03/12/2012 23:22

jelly we have the britax forward see too, see seems to like sitting that way.
Can i just say she isnt quite walking just yet! Lol only had a few little steps. She still seem happy whipping round the furniture ! Probally take her a little while to master the art, still v wobbly. But give her this month and she probally will of cracked it. :)
she is the earliest in our family a part from dh niece walking at 9 months.
great news- jam id love a mince pie too!

Still not lost any weight here. Just back to pre preg, would love to for the christmas season but oh well! :(

whats everyone babies think of your trees? dd seems a bit scared of the decs and our xmas toys...... ?¿

VintageNancy · 04/12/2012 00:10

vicky go Lyra!

hug how did the helmet fitting go?

nordic hope you get to the bottom of the spots soon.

jam great news! And now I want a mince pie.

Re car seats: Em is still in her infant seat. No rush to move her to next one as she can stay in it a while yet despite being 21lbs ish. Means I can leave her in it and just clip it into stroller if she falls asleep when we're out. They recommend rear-facing here until 2 so even when she goes into next seat the view won't improve Wink.

No crawling just loads of rolling. She's got onto all fours a few times but no motion! She loves to stand though so I'm wondering if she just won't bother with crawling.

Oh I held a 2-day old yesterday! Broody!!

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 04/12/2012 20:18

Hi all. A has his helmet. He was absolutely wonderful and so chilled out about it.

Today he had it on for 1hr, off for 1hr etc and off for sleeps. Tomorrow it's 2hrs on, 1 off no sleeps, then 4 on 1 off, on for sleeps, 8 on 1 off on for sleeps then by day 5 its on all the time.

He looks so cute in it Xmas Grin

VintageNancy · 04/12/2012 22:24

He does look very cute in it Smile. When can you expect to see results do you know?

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 05/12/2012 02:10

It's hard to tell as it depends when his head grows but they will be keeping a close eye on him. He will have the helmet a minimum of 4 months but more likely to be around 7 as his flattening is so severe.

Nordicmom · 05/12/2012 09:35

I'm glad you got the helmet fitted ok Hug. I'm sure it'll will help a lot. I've heard such good things about them :). Great that your DS doesn't mind!

HenriettaTurkey · 05/12/2012 22:51

I think A looks great in the helmet. So good that he's not resisting it!

Strange day for DS. He's been awake since 8.30am other than 10min on me post feed at about 5pm. Also he's had 10 feeds today! Most of them slightly fussy...

He just does not want to sleep.

I'll be the one rocking and silently weeping in the corner.

HenriettaTurkey · 05/12/2012 23:44

Oh oh oh - he's woken up again Hmm

Poor little boy. This must be teething right? Still no teeth.

SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 06/12/2012 09:39

henrietta A sometimes has days where he doesn't sleep at all, hopefully it was a one off for you.

A is currently playing with a bib and finding it funny, tis very cute.

HenriettaTurkey · 06/12/2012 12:22

Bibs are hilarious!!

DS finally went down just before midnight and slept through till 8.10am which is great.

Really not sure why it took him 5 hours to settle though.

Lovely DH let me sleep in this morning after DS's initial feed and then I had a lovely shower. Aaah I feel so much better!

DS currently feeding. Again. Smile

We are heading in to town later which I hope will help. Yesterday our plans for a walk were foiled by black ice so he may have felt a bit cooped up.

HenriettaTurkey · 06/12/2012 23:29

Still awake. Wondering now if it's because he hasn't pooed since Tuesday...

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 07/12/2012 07:53

Helloo

Just popping by to say hi as its been yonks since I posted (though I have been reading) not really much to report on the DCs, DS2 is nearly crawling and nearly pulling to stand, but hasnt quite done either yet.
Me, I have my "extensions" shh, in case you didnt know, its a wig ready for xmas as my hair is now very thin, and I'm off to see the psychiatrist for initial consult today. It's still going to be ages til I see the other specialists though...

OP posts:
SantasHugandRollintheSnow · 07/12/2012 14:37

Having a few bad days with A. Bless him he's so fed up of his helmet. It doesn't help our boiler has packed in and our house is very cold, if it was a workplace we would be breaking the law.

British gas should be here before 6 and until then I have my dressing gown on over my clothes and A and I are cuddling on the sofa.

christmasmummyvicky · 07/12/2012 17:00

Henrietta hope the sleeping/ pooping is better now?

Beyond I seen the pics of your hair, it looks great! :)

Hugs really sorry A is finding his helmet hard, hopefully he will get use to it soon? Fingers crossed. We had our boiler pack up last year, nightmare- hope U get it sorted asap

DD is still not quite walking yet, seem to want to hang on to the crawling a bit longer- I don't mind! :)

Her sleep has really improved we had maybe 6/7 days of just one wake up between 11-2am. Really fab for me. Apart from when she was ill she then woke twice. Fingers crossed it continue and maybe in the newyear she might drop that feed?????? :)

I forgot to say she still has her cold, running nose must of the time now, maybe cutting first tooth?

What's everyone getting dd and ds for Christmas?????
Not long now eeeekkkkk......
