September 2012 babies - warmest welcome!

Here's the new thread for September babies fresh from the oven!

I'm a first time mum and I'm struggling with breast feeding at the moment, my 6-day old DS always seems to be hungry (a feed every 2-3 hours, each lasting roughly an hour), and when he's hungry he's very aggressive towards my nipple Sad it really hurts! Any tips out there? And how often do you feed your baby and for how long?  how do you teach your baby to be gentle on the nipples? Envy

Good luck to those still waiting for their babies to come out! Will be watching out for more baby news!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who brings baby to bed during the middle of the night. I just find it easier and living in a flat I don't want to wake up my upstairs neighbour.

We're the opposite leelteloo I find it strange that dd eats so little as ds would have ate the hand off you when he was a baby. I distinctly remember him polishing off 3 Weetabix in one sitting when he was 7 months. By comparison dd eats a couple of mouthfuls and that's it. I tried her on three meals the other day but she was up looking for milk during the middle of the night, which is unlike her, so I've dropped back to the two and will try again next week. She's only coming 6.5months so I'm not worried about getting her onto three until she's 7 months.

Sounds like you have your hands full Moomin . Good luck with the Christening and catering.

Baby B has been doing my head in the past couple of days. Nothing pleases her and she screams most of the day. Can't wait until tomorrow until her dad takes her out for a few hours. Even ended up in tears at mu mum's house yesterday as she's really wearing me down.

Hope the renovations are going well moomin

Hope the christening goes well. I'm getting Herbie done on 9th June. I'm not 100% on the numbers but I'm trying to keep it as small as possible. We have fingers crossed for a good day as we're planning a BBQ and bouncy castle. As there will be a lot of kids.

So I feel awful, I was stressing so much about food and now I realise why Herbie was refusing it the past few days. Two days ago Herbie was very hot, gave calpol. He slept right through two night, yesterday he slept for near 5 hours in total, last night his temperature was 38.9c this morning it is 38.6c. So I'm not bothering with food just giving him milk.
Feel so sorry for him.

ballroom I can relate, with Herbie feeling so crap all he does is cry at me. I really don't know what else to do for him. I'm hoping its just teething trouble. But it really wears you down so quick. Makes you feel really useless as you can't do anything to please them. I hope your few hours free does you the world of good.

Hello everyone. DD is sitting on her own all of a sudden. With DS I used to try sitting him up all the time and he was always falling over. Now I just let her lie on the floor and she gets in with it, or is in her highchair. Now she's sitting alone and balances really well.
Also, she's started crawling, backwards mainly, but she gets about.
In the last couple of days she's started to raise her bum in the air so I suppose forward crawling is imminent.

She still only has two meals really. Breakfast and tea. I give her little bits to chew for lunch. She's eating fruit and toast, peas and broccoli. And anything else that's on my plate.
She loves banana, but it makes so much mess! It's like cement!

Penguin I hope Herbie is better and then you can try again with food.
Try not to worry about what he's eating, it's just letting him taste things really. He gets his calories etc from his milk so don't fret.
You're doing a great job, he looks gorgeous.

DD is really looking like me now. DS is a copy of DP so it's nice to see myself in her.
Her eyes are halfway to brown now. Everything about her makes my heart melt. I never thought I could love another child as much as my first. But you really can. She's just a cherub!

Wow Wherearemyshoes; crawling and sitting that's awesome. Ds is so lazy: starting to worry about him. 7 months and not rolling? He is just so massive that he can't get over but the longer he stays immobile the fatter he gets. I try and limit his food and milk but he screams the place down. Guess I'll be going back to the hv with him.

Try not to worry too much leelteloo he'll get there in time. DS was getting on for 9 months before he started crawling I think and past his 2nd birthday before he started talking. We worried about him but now he's like a running jumping climbing parrot.
I think it's usual for boys to do physical things later in general. Something to do with females having a faster developing neuro system or something.

Also, I think DD wants to be able to follow DS around and that's encouraging her to move. DS didn't have that so was happy to be plonked somewhere comfy and enjoy the scenery.

I need to get down on the floor and check we're baby proof again. We're toddler proof and dog proof, so should be ok!

Have you had him weighed recently? Or done it yourself at home?
Is he staying on the same centile or moving up them?

Both mine are quite slight, thanks to their dad's slim genes and my shortarse frame. But still I remember DS looking rather chunky at this age. Once they start climbing everything and running everywhere they lose the rolls.

Hope Herbie's ok penguin . Yeah I wouldn't bother with the food until he's feeling better. Even when they are on a bit more food, they prefer their milk for a comfort thing when they are sick. I think it might be B's teeth making her cranky as she's not even bothered drinking much milk and prefers to chew on the teat. Still it was bliss to get a few hours to myself today.

B was the same shoes and just sat up all of a sudden and crawling backwards. All her rolling about has caused a few bumped heads and getting stuck in various places the last couple of days. Had to put floor cushions on the tiled hearth as she gave herself a tiny bruise smacking her head off it. Baby-proofing time here. I have officially banned ds from bringing toys into the living room now as I'm sick of telling him dd can choke with him leaving money/lego etc about. Bit jealous your dd looks like you as dd is the spit of her dad, bar one photo I managed to get where she looks like me. Ds didn't start to look like me until he was about 3 or so either.

I'm sorry but that made me laugh leelteloo . It just reminds me of my younger brother who was thee hugest, fattest baby I have ever seen. The photos are hilarious. According to mum she couldn't keep on top of feeding him as he was constantly hungry and was really, really late in doing anything either. He never did crawl and eventually bum-shuffled. The weight must have gone into his height as he was a skinny wee thing growing up and is the tallest out of all our family at 6foot4.

Yes Herbie is way better today. It's crazy as last night he woke up and screamed the place down for hours, his temp was over 38. Then this morning is right as rain again. No temperature all day and in fantastic form.

Will be trying him on breakfast again in the morning and fingers crossed he will take it for me (only eats for his dad now)

Herbie has been rolling over and sitting, he done this weeks before his big cousin Ellie. Although Herbie has more free time on the floor than Ellie so maybe that's why he has mastered it before her.

Although no crawling here, if he wants something that's out of reach on the sofa he just lunges towards it. It's very funny to watch.

Glad Herbie had a better day Smile.
Ds finally rolled over; from front on to his back! Phew!! Really was starting to think he was not progressing in the right way. He has done it a few times today.
Next goal, sitting, I'm not holding my breath.

Now if you could just get my DD to sleep from 7-7 that'll be lovely. Thanks. Wink

Can I join you with that shoes ?? Between teething so making up for bottles during the night on what she hasn't had during the day to gabbling away to herself for an hour and a half. The mamadadagaga's are cute during the day, not so cute at 4 to 5.30am!!

leelteloo that's great, I'm sure he will be busy rolling now.

Herbie will take breakfast in the morning with his dad but when won't take another spoon feed. So I've been giving him things, he loved to suck on a strawberry and a biscuit. So I'm going to just do blw.

I'm joining in on the wishful thinking of 7-7. Herbie done it for two consecutive nights only woke up around 11 for his dummy. Then the next night he was up for an hour crying around 12 then woke up about 5 times. We are usually up twice a night. I'm so tired.

hello all happy damn Friday!
we've got a 2nd milder bout of 'bad tummies' again sadly Shock ds is off school today
on the Grin side; Ava's almost crawling, getting herself sitting (leaning forwards) from crawling, saying 'mum' and 'yeah' all in one week!
still waking in the night tho Wink

Report
ballroomblitz · 19/04/2013 16:06

Oh no to the tummy bugs. Hope all the babies recover soon. My mum and granny have both had it too so I avoided them for a few days in the hope they wouldn't pass it on.

Clever Ava cjbk. Still just babbling here although every now and again it sounds like she's saying hi after I say it. Ds didn't talk until nearly two so I have loads of patience with regards to that - and know you can't shut them up and you wish for some peace when they do start talking Grin

Not much to report here as I have been house-hunting in earnest. Finally got somewhere so wee B will have her own room in a month once I get moved. Can't come quick enough!! She wakes me up and I probably wake her up a lot as I talk and shout in my sleep. Wasn't going to increase her solids to three meals until next week as she's still up early morning for a bottle but today she wouldn't take a bottle but happily shoved down crumpets and an orange for lunch so I'll give it a whirl. Think I'll be converting to mainly blw as she seems to enjoy feeding herself.

Have a lovely weekend and fingers crossed this lovely weather and sunshine holds up.

Horrid horrid few days: dd caught the bug too and I've been up all night again. At least dh took them at 6 so I've had a bit of sleep this morning. My tummy is gurgling now Hmm.

Oh no Sad I hope you all pick up soon.
It's so hard to stay well when you're the one having to care for all the sick people.

I'm stressing over going back to work.
My smp ends in a couple of weeks and we need me to go back for now until we can make any longer term plans.
So initially I'll be doing 2 days until my leave is used up, then see how things go.
DD still won't take a bottle so hopefully DP can gradually convince her to have it.
I must admit, the peace on the walk to and from work will be nice. Especially throughout the summer.

Has anyone else gone back yet? or was it just me that took mat leave early because I was so lazy

I gave up work when I had dd, so not worked for 4 years now. I don't plan to go back until ds starts school. I love being a full time mum and feel really lucky to be able to do it. I know there are loads of arguments on mn about sahm or working but it works for us. Must be so hard to go back to work if you do want to but have to. I just hope I will be able to get a job when I need to.
Hope everyone is enjoying this gorgeous day. We are all curled up on the sofa with the curtains closed and the buckets ready lol

I was made redundant last May so I'm currently a sahm. I'm going back to school part time in September then hopefully full time next September. But I have no major plans on what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I'm sure ill figure it out at some point.

I'm heading out tonight :) Herbie is at the in laws. I'm going to get bollocked. I haven't been out in AGES! I am so excited.

Oh my what a night. Was very drunk but it was excellent. Although my dp, his uncle and his cousin had to leave around 12 as his cousin got kicked out for being too drunk, so my sister and I refused to leave and stayed on. It was brilliant. I had so much fun dancing like a loon, it made me realise just how much I've missed going out. Think I'm going to have a night out at least once a month. I'm not desperate to be out all the time but just that once would make me so happy.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

I have uploaded another photos up. It's one we got taken a while ago with a professional photographer, I'm only going to keep it up for a few days, then I think I'll take it down. I was taken in Jan. so I have changed from that photo, I now have blonde hair.

Planning on putting a few more up soon, must get one up of my latest tattoo as I said I would but just haven't bothered yet.

Hope you had a good night last night penguin and the head wasn't too sore today! What are you planning on studying?

I also haven't really worked since having ds, bar the odd part-time night/temporary Christmas job. Was in the middle of studying myself when I got pg with dd. I'm sure I could reapply but really don't think I have the energy or time or money for studying now. Was hard enough with just the one that was a bit older. Can't be doing the sahm thing again so I'm going to look for work in a couple of months.

That sounds grim leelteloo. I hate the way some men can't function when they are ill yet when you are ill you have to get up and on with it. Hope the babies are getting better.
