Here's the new thread for September babies fresh from the oven!

I'm a first time mum and I'm struggling with breast feeding at the moment, my 6-day old DS always seems to be hungry (a feed every 2-3 hours, each lasting roughly an hour), and when he's hungry he's very aggressive towards my nipple it really hurts! Any tips out there? And how often do you feed your baby and for how long?  how do you teach your baby to be gentle on the nipples?

They have both been waking earlier but it's about 6:45 instead of 8:20
I try to leave them until at least 7ish.
I'm trying to get her to sleep in her cot now and managed from bedtime till 3am. Not bad. She probably would have gone back in but I fell asleep feeding her in bed. And she woke a couple more times after that. Yawn.

Is anyone else's baby waking earlier and earlier: it used to be at 6, then 5, then 4 & last bloody night it was 3.35. Now I am used to being up at stupid o'clock as dd was/is a terrible sleeper but before 4 is not even the morning!
I try everything but its like "ping" awake now, want milk, want to get up!
Just as I get him back to sleep "ping" dd is up and wants to go downstairs. It's like tag. I am in bed right now hoping to get some good sleep in before he wakes. Think the white noise better go back on.

When I went back to work last time ds had formula during the day when I was at work after about 3 weeks of expressing during work time.
Once he'd got used to formula I only bfed him in the morning and bedtime. I fed him till he was a year old like that and it worked well for us.
This time I don't want to give formula at all. But I don't think I'll be able to keep up the expressing at work
I was sad when I gave up the day feeds with ds because I felt like it was before I was ready but he was happy and didn't seem to notice. So I keep in mind if I don't keep it up with dd it won't matter to her, and she won't remember. It's just for my benefit really.
Still makes me sad though!

DS has gone right off my boobs!
He will have a feed if he's tired but otherwise will just pull away and look around/try to sit up. My supply is slowing; I was at work today so hadn't fed him for about 11 hours (around 7.30 am till 6.30pm) and my breasts were only a little bit uncomfortable. This time two weeks ago I would have HAD to express by noon or feel utterly awful! He is happy to drink formula, seems to really like it and will happily guzzle a good quantity. Is this the beginning of the end? :(
DS is my third but the first that I've had any decent support to BF. Thanks MN :)

dd does the same as yours nightmare.

I actually tried her on one of those pouches today as an experiment to see if she just didn't like my cooking and she ate it. Wee madam. Well had half for lunch then the other half for dinner followed by creamy baked apple and cinnamon, a rice cake and then 5oz of milk!

I think maybe I've been making things too thick for her. She can handle lumps fine but seems to like a bit more liquid with it as she hovered up her mashed veg with cheese sauce the night before too. Suppose when I think about she isn't even 7 months until the start of next month as she went as overdue. So I'll give that a whirl and not worry about it as she's guzzling away at 5-7oz bottles in between time.

Ooh satsumas are a big fave here although DD sucks the insides out then chucks the segments away! We've been out to lunch for DH birthday and Kerenza has tried - calamari - bruschetta - salad - fillet steak - chicken - veg - potatoes and just to see if she liked it - tiramisu. She loves it all and was very well behaved thank God. She even made a very decent stab at trying to get my wine glass away from me but I drew the line at that!

Oh I went in the loo because it's right off the kitchen :) there is a maze of rooms upstairs but no heating. My bosses are utterly lovely and would fall over themselves to provide something if I asked. Anyway DS's bfing is tailing off a bit as he's eating more so I didn't have to pump yesterday.
He's eating all sorts- his dinner was granary toast with mashed avocado, cheese and tomato puree. His favourite thing is satsumas, I thought he'd dropped a load on the floor the other day but he'd just eaten it so fast!

hello all, nice to 'hear' everyone's news, so; I don't have to express at work as Ava practically weaned herself off which i don't mind except she refuses a lot of bottles too infact I tried her with an avent cup yesterday which she liked tho still didn't drink it all, she does eat well tho, dd1 was 5 on tues and her party is on sat, I'm trying to clean around baby and hoping my new phone comes before school pick up so only able to enjoy the nice weather from the garden, take care all x

My ds2 is eating a weetabix for breakfast, and half an ellas kitchen fruit purée pouch. For dinner he has a whole stage 2 savoury pouch, and a small petit filous. For tea he has a whole stage 2 savoury pouch and the other half of the fruit purée pouch. We are only using the fruit purées until we run out then he will move onto stage 2 puddings. His hand/mouth co-ordination isn't great so our blw attempts have been terrible. When his co ordination improves I will give him fruit in a nuby nibbler to start with as fruit gets v slippy! We will be making our own food for him soon, just had a very busy couple of weeks, so using the ellas kitchen ones in the meantime. He has bf whenever he wants, and not introduced any snacks yet.

Glad you had a good birthday shoes. You'll be grand once you get back to work. Do they have settling back into work days for you to get back into the swing of it?

Welcome peerie. That sounds awful having to express in the loos. I honestly thought work had to provide you with somewhere proper to express. I'm jealous you are back in the working world with proper conversations.

That sounds great penguin. You could maybe see about volunteering with surestart if you wanted to go and do your degree. Would really help with your UCAS application.

I have the shadows under my eyes too Nightmare. Unfortunately they are hereditary. Even poor ds has them. One of my old neighbours used to constantly stop me and tell me how sick/ tired I looked every time I saw her (bitch). Benefit and touché éclat are my best friends!

Sorry to hear you are looking after an extra big kid at the minute leelteloo.

How much are your dc eating solid wise?? I'm getting a tiny bit concerned that dd doesn't really seem fussed on hers. She'll still only eat about 2 ice-cubes worth of food with some finger food stuff thrown about the tray/on the floor for the dog. I know I shouldn't really but can't help comparing her to ds who by this stage was wolfing down two or three Weetabix for breakfast.
Had considered switching to just blw as I'm sick of making food for her not to eat it and she seems to enjoy trying to feed herself but my mum made me doubt myself by saying she definitely wouldn't get enough then. I did switch to just blw with ds at 7 months but like I said, he was eating more.

I've aged too loads in the last year; it's all happened at once. I used to look so young for my age but think people would get it right now if they guessed. Got the big 40 to look forward to next year; oh the joy!
My irritating dh is still dragging out the "bug" he reckons he caught off the kids. He has not gone to work today again. He is not ill, just damn lazy. I hate having him at home, just want him out form under my feet.

I got IDed in Sainsbury's last week (trying to buy cider, funnily enough! they do a posh elderflower one, yum) so that is my new favourite shop (I'm nearly 32).

No forehead lines as I'm 'lucky' (yeah right) enough to have a neurological condition that entitles me to botox on the NHS - shame they can't do anything about the shadows & bags under my eyes though!

at expressing in the loo! When I went back to work after my ds I was allowed to use a first aid room but it didn't have a lock on the door. When I just gave up feeding during the day I sent a really shitty email round the top bods and then they put a lock on it.
So this time when I go back in a couple of weeks I should be alright.
I think they're supposed to offer something decent. Is there anywhere at all you can improvise with?
I need to brush up on my social skills. I need to hold my tongue when the office dickheads are bitching about other people. Also, I struggle to hold decent conversation nowadays. I keep stuttering when I speak so hopefully I get used to it again soon so I don't look totally incompetent.
I only just about remember what I do!

I'm currently waiting for dd to let go of my boob so I can go and eat some cake and have a wee. Bursting!

Hello, I haven't been on this thread at all but I have a September 11th DS :) I was on one of the old August antenatal threads at one time but my dates were changed.
I started back at work last week- just Wednesdays and Saturdays to start with. Bloody sore full boobs by lunchtime, having to express in the loo as theres nowhere else! It's so good to be back in the world of grown ups though :)

I'm going to study part time child care. Hoping to go in and get a degree in something but I'm not fully decided what I want to do. I quite like the idea of working for sure start, or something similar.

leelteloo I hope your Dh is feeling better now.

shoes I'm 22 and my Dp is 24.

Herbie is very talkative, although nothing makes sense. It's mostly just loud shouting or screaming.

I had a load of 'lalala's today. Didn't make much sense but I'm sure it meant something.

I had a good day thanks Ballroom, feeling a bit sick from all the cake though.

I think I'll get myself a fringe next month. I'm having surgery on my scalp in a couple of weeks so once that's healed I'm going to get a load of hair cut off and maybe even do a home hair colour. It might take the spotlight off the post natal hair loss and regrowth.

I feel your pain shoes. Up until I got pregnant I was asked for ID sometimes which wasn't bad for middling-30s. Hasn't happened since :( My skin hasn't been great either, my hips get sore when I walk any great distance, although I don't know about lines on the forehead (fringe fixes that) I have noticed the distinctive lines around the eyes and mouth when I smile have got deeper. Eep! Thinking I might go back to blond from dark brown to give myself a bit of a lift. Hope you had a lovely birthday and were spoilt rotten.

I feel like I've aged so much over the last year. My skin is shit, my hair is shit, by teeth don't feel right and my back feels like is going to break some days.
And I've got a line that seems to be permanent on my forehead.
Can you tell I turn yet another year older tomorrow? It's all happening too quick and before I know it my babies will be grown up and I'll be old

Age never stopped me drinking cider though. I just moved from 3ltr bottles to posh glass ones!


I hope you've had some rest Leelteloo. It's not fair you're having to do all the hard work.

I'd love to stay at home with the kids but my job is too safe to leave it. But once this universal credit comes in my job will disappear so we'll see what happens then.
Dp will be looking after both the kids and will probably find it challenging but he seems to have really started to bond with dd over turn last couple of weeks. It's taken time, but she's much happier nowadays and he finds it less soul destroying when she actually looks up and smiles and laughs at him.
She's been a complete mummy's girl until now ds was a very social baby and would smile for anyone

Hope you had a good night last night penguin and the head wasn't too sore today! What are you planning on studying?

I also haven't really worked since having ds, bar the odd part-time night/temporary Christmas job. Was in the middle of studying myself when I got pg with dd. I'm sure I could reapply but really don't think I have the energy or time or money for studying now. Was hard enough with just the one that was a bit older. Can't be doing the sahm thing again so I'm going to look for work in a couple of months.

That sounds grim leelteloo. I hate the way some men can't function when they are ill yet when you are ill you have to get up and on with it. Hope the babies are getting better.

Oh my what a night. Was very drunk but it was excellent. Although my dp, his uncle and his cousin had to leave around 12 as his cousin got kicked out for being too drunk, so my sister and I refused to leave and stayed on. It was brilliant. I had so much fun dancing like a loon, it made me realise just how much I've missed going out. Think I'm going to have a night out at least once a month. I'm not desperate to be out all the time but just that once would make me so happy.

I have uploaded another photos up. It's one we got taken a while ago with a professional photographer, I'm only going to keep it up for a few days, then I think I'll take it down. I was taken in Jan. so I have changed from that photo, I now have blonde hair.

Planning on putting a few more up soon, must get one up of my latest tattoo as I said I would but just haven't bothered yet.

Have a brill time TDP. Dh now says he has the bug and has taken to his bed; bloody men! I've been looking after these poorly babies for the last 3 days all by my self & was hoping for a bit of help. No such bloody luck: wish I was coming out with you TDP!
