Wanted to continue our support group for those who had prednisolone treatment (or similar) for recurrent miscarriage and have thankfully made it onto the other side!

How's F's nappy rash now? Is it thrush perhaps, or just a normal rash?
Having a rare time of being alone in the house with ds2. Very nice Smile

digitalgirl · 18/07/2012 19:25

Definitely a rash - some Bepanthen cleared it up. He's super drooly and had been chewing his fists so I think it was a bit of pre-teething. Certainly no sign of anything moving under his gums yet.

Hope you enjoyed your afternoon just with ds2.

Ds1 finishes pre-school tomorrow - so will have to start getting out in the mornings to burn off his energy.

I'm here, I've reached the other side to join you ladies! It's incredible isn't it?
My baby boy is almost 72 hours old now. It's middle of the night and I'm doing a feed, still in hospital but i'm going home tomorrow. After the EMCS I only just feel ready to go. It's a bit annoying not being able to move about so freely but then I'm feeling so much better than 2 days ago!

I lost more blood than normal because i'd been labouring for so long. It was a bit of a scary moment in theatre feeling blood squirting out, going light headed, beeping on the monitors, surgeon barking urgent orders but also the relief of hearing my baby screaming.and seeing DH standing over him. I'm good now and glowing with love and my little
boy is perfect. Agpar scores were 9 and 9, he was a healthy 7lbs 5oz
and all his post natal checks so far have been normal.

Once I leave hospital, there's no home visits or anything so I'm trying to get as much sorted out and learnt here as I possibly can.

Ladies who had a CS - when do you stArt feeling normalish again? For example when will I feel up to say a slow 20 min walk with the pram? 2 wks? 4wks? Has anyone used a carrier after a CS? I have a Moby and an Ergo and thinking maybe the Moby might be ok to use soonish.

I know I can't drive for 6 wks which is a bit of a pain for me,
especially while it's too hot to be outdoors in the day here. Looks like
I will be getting a bit of cabin fever this August!

How. Is everyone else getting on? Sorry for the me me me post.

Hi Cheerful, great to see you here and many congratulations! Sounds like you were really put through the mill. I'm amazed you don't get midwife visits when you go home, why is that? Will there be a health visitor coming?
In terms of walking, within a week I wouldve walked 20 mins, but definitely feeling sore at the end of that. At 4 weeks I'd say I felt fully recovered, BUT I did end up with a bit of my incision opening up again, I think I overdid it pushing supermarket trollies etc. I think the sling will be fine as the baby is still small :) I have a moby too, still trying to get the hang of it.
Digi, how are you coping with both kids at home now all day? I have been spoiled by having dh at home all summer, and we're still sending ds1 to nursery a few days a week Blush

Coconutfeet · 30/07/2012 20:02

Congratulations Cheerful and welcome to this side! It sounds like you had a hard time with the labour. I hope you've been able to get some rest in hospital. Are you absolutely sure you can't drive for six weeks? A couple of people I now who had C sections were told that they could drive as soon as they felt ready and that it would be OK, insurance-wise? Obviously it could be different where you are.

I've got both the children at home at the moment too, as ds's nursery is closed for three weeks. Also, we're living in a new area, so I'm having to really make an effort to get out and about and explore a bit and meet some new people.

Digi - you're so lucky that F now goes 10 hours at night! (can't remember if I read that on here or on the other thread. Been following on my phone but no good at typing on it). Ds1 didn't manage that until I'd been back at work for at least 9 months. I'm really hoping ds2 is going to be better at sleeping...

Yay! Welcome cheerful!!!

Didn't have a cs but I did lose a lot of blood and ended up needing a transfusion which didn't actually boost my iron stores. So was very weak in that respect. I slept as much as I could in the first 2-3 weeks - napping at least once in the day. I remember coming home and even climbing the stairs was a huge amount of effort but each day there was some improvement and by the third week we ventured out for a short walk in the woods (I also had spd to recover from). So I would say, take it easy as much as possible. Get out when you can but really listen to your body and stop whenever you're tired.
I also had issues feeding - so strapping F close to my chest for the first couple of weeks was the last thing I wanted to do. But once we started I found the moby was much more comfortable to begin with.

iggi the good days are ever so slightly outweighing the bad days re: coping with them both this summer. DH is quite flexible so we've had a couple of mid-week family days, but he tends to have meetings at weekends to make up for hours lost in the week. Looking forward to our week off in Devon later this month.

coconut ha! Totally jinxed myself as F now going through 4 month sleep regression. Thought it was the heat last week waking him every 2 hours from 1am. However he's still up more than usual even now it's cooler.

Right - F finished feeding, DS1 demanding iPhone so must get ready to go out and give him his walk to combat his morning hyperactivity!

F has found his voice and is doing lots of squeals of delight (which can turn into screeches of protest). A lot shriekier than his big brother - but I guess he has to be to make himself heard. We're also getting 1/4 rolls, so when put on his side he'll roll into his front - probably more like falling than rolling but he's getting good at pulling his arm out from under him and lifting his head up high. Can't believe he'll be 4 months next week.

Hello, just reawakening this thread as it had dropped off my list. Things going fine here, Ds1 has started school so I get a bit more time with Ds2 which is lovely. Have bitten the bullet and arranged to have some counselling re the miscarriages - hope it is a good idea. Despite my happiness with the baby I do think about what I've been through every day and feel a bit "stuck".
How are all the other gorgeous pred babes? (and mums!)
