Tried to post on the original thread and my post got rejected as its full! Have copied and pasted below....

Congrats on the job offer ttl...hope the other one comes up trumps for you too.

Dd isn't quite crawling yet, but would very much like to. She is the queen of the Klingons at the moment, and has a meltdown the second I put her down, look in the opposite direction, or if someone else so much as looks at her. Not all the time thankfully, but definitely for part of every day.

On the bf thing, it's so personal.....I've just dropped doing the afternoon feed myself be cause dd is so distractible that she bobs on and off, which I don't like around other people, and now she finally has teeth the constant latch on/off was really hurting. I just bf once a day, our morning snuggle when she's nice and calm. I would be sad to give that one up just yet.

DD does feed pretty much all night.

but she feeds almost every two hours in the daytime too! (always has done)

We have Object Permanance!
I thought she did a few times this week, but this was definite - she's been in her little chair eating melon, then sucking at broccoli and deciding today is not broccoli day. I handed her a rattle, she played around with it for a while, then dropped it while she was shaking it. Her entire head and eyes looked for it over the edge of the chair after it had fallen

oh, and when I picked it up again for her, he was not surprised by it - she knew that she wanted it specifically

Ah, I love the whole milestones thing. I have the wonder years app for my I-phone. I haven't checked it for a while, should really have a look.

When ds has a particular food day it drives dh mad, but I find it quite funny. Whatever food he doesn't want gets chucked on the floor (thus dh not being happy). Last week made him a salmon and pasta dish. He was loving broccoli (again) and pasta. Despite previously loving salmon it was painstakingly removed from the high chair tray and chucked on the floor. Grin

He has also gone off bread at the moment. Obviously taking after his dad there as I'm a carb queen!

she's just eaten most of a banana.
yuck.
she was doing fine until she couldn't keep hold of the bit (had to take it out of the skin to finish it)
i thought [lightbulb] "i'll put a sucker stick on it and make it a lolly"
that worked for 3 seconds.
then she desperately wanted a cuddle - i couldn't do that at work when she's covered in banana! i stripped her and she's now having some boob juice.

vallinnapod · 02/08/2012 18:01

CC I get the same with DS. He looks like a proper little boy these days. Especially when he is doing things like feeding himself and chewing. Obviously massively proud but I do wonder where 11 months have gone!

He started settling into nursery this week. Has taken to it like a duck to water - not that I am surprised. He has been going for and hour or so a day this week and next before starting his one whole day on 14th. I cannot believe how filthy, or knackered, he is when I pick him up!! Highly recommend it for nap inducement!!

LOL nickel I absolutely loved it when DS realised things hit the floor! Less so when he realised they could be picked up again if enough fuss was made Grin

we had a nasty day yesterday.
my friend from nottingham came down (the one who was at the birth), with her 14w old.
DD wanted to be fed every single time he did! so i was practically clusterfeeding all afternoon and evening! she didn't need it, she just wanted what he was having. Hmm

but! we also went out for dinner, and she ate quite a lot - some carrots, peas (maybe - she was certainly chasing them round the tray Grin), some naan bread.
and she'd eaten most of a banana in the morning and some broccoli at lunch.
i think it was a "feed me!" day Grin

CuriosityCola · 05/08/2012 18:53

It is very quiet on here. Everyone too busy enjoying the Olympics?!

nickelbarapasaurus · 05/08/2012 20:59

i haven't watched any of it!

spending a lot of time worrying abut this blodgy, itchy creature. Hmm
I took her to the memorial today - we were planning on going after church, but she'd had such a bad night and looked just as bad if not worse this morning that we went into church, practised the anthem and i left as the service was starting.
Thankfully there was a doc on duty and we saw him very quickly. he basically reassured me that it was just a flare-up and to carry on doing what we're doing.
i even got back in time for communion!

CuriosityCola · 05/08/2012 21:05

Oh 'Nickel' you are having a right time of it. It must be so hard to see your dd so uncomfortable with it. I think you did the right thing getting reassurance from the doctor.

Is there anything in particular that makes her skin better or worse?

nickelbarapasaurus · 05/08/2012 21:10

:)

dunno about better/worse. can't tell.
think she scratches more when she's tired, but of course she doesn't sleep, so i'm having ti learn the cues.

got her off to sleep this afternoon by taking her on a trip round the block in the pram (this was after she'd fallen asleep feeding but woken after 5 glorious minutes!)
and she slept for about 2 hours! Shock

nickelbarapasaurus · 05/08/2012 21:32

just looking at nhs "birth to 5 years"

it reads like they advocate the baby-led-weaning route.

FeijoaVodkaPlease · 05/08/2012 23:19

I'm about. Just not got the the laptop on much and I find typing on my phone painful and slow, so don't bother much.

All okay here. just finishing up my abs, but sore boob is no longer sore thank goodness.

CuriosityCola · 06/08/2012 20:33

Glad you are feeling better FVP.

Nickel, they are in theory meant to be encouraging Blw. Many of the health visitors haven't been given the training or guidance required on it though. Therefore, feel uncomfortable suggesting something they are not completely clued up on. My weaning talk consisted of ,'this is the Annabel Karmel book, she has everything covered, so you should buy her book'. Then a series of quotes from the book.

Glad you got a two hour nap from dd today. I bet she felt much happier for it. I have to say that you can't beat some fresh air to get them to sleep. When ds was having four naps a day I was walking him for each of them. Miles and miles of walking different routes round my area. Goodbye baby weight, but I'm convinced a good portion was sleep walking! Grin

Not much to update on here, just wish the weather would decide what it's doing (be sunny) and stick to it.

vallinnapod · 06/08/2012 22:17

I don't know what I will do when the Olympics are over Grin

I am a bit Angry with HVs. I started a thread a few weeks ago as my HV told me to cut DS's milk down (from 3 bottles to 2) as he gets a lot of dairy in his diet. He is getting under the 500ml-a-day-or-you-should-give-vitamins but this was never mentioned. Now feel like a pants parent as since 10.5 months DS has 'only' had 390mls and no extra vits. He does have a really varied diet but still, how to know what's best. He hasn't once fussed for the dropped feed and frequently doesn't finish the 180ml bedtime bottle.

Feeling Sad too as the poor bub has a tongue full of ulcers. He is teething his molars and has been very sad this arvo. I turned him upside down (our preferred method for having a look in his mouth as he laughs so much Grin) and no sign of teeth but one huge ulcer in the middle of a cluster of smaller ones SadSadSad Have give him some teething gel and ibuprofen but he is waking frequently and it is clearly hurting him as he sucks his thumb a little then spits it out and cries Sad

I have him snuggled next to me in bed or the first time in ages....he has quite a left hook and rib jab on him these days Hmm

vallinnapod · 06/08/2012 22:20

Sorry, got all me, me, me! Was meant to say our weaning talk was hilariously skewed to purées! I nearly walked out....

nickelbarapasaurus · 07/08/2012 11:51

Yesterday, Monday, was a completely different story!
she was sooo tired, but instead of going to sleep in the buggy, she stayed awake.
then DH took her to the Post Office and to the knitting shop, and she stayed awake.
she didn't sleep yesterday until we left the shop for home GrinHmm

val - why don't HVs learn about babies' care? Hmm
this is why i'm glad i've not seen mine at all
:( at his ulcers.

FeijoaVodkaPlease · 07/08/2012 18:46

I seem to have come up trumps with my local HVs. Was encouraging when I said I was already BLW at the weaning talk and today at DDs 12-14 month check up a got to sit there and say 'DD has been completely BLWed and loves it and hates being spoon fed' :) Also the HV was really impressed that DD was wearing an amber teething anklet. I should have had her in the sling, that probably would have blown her mind! (in a good way).

CuriosityCola · 07/08/2012 19:58

Do you think those anklets make a difference? I have been debating about making a purchase.

vallinnapod · 07/08/2012 20:06

Got one for DS and can't say either way really as we have now had to take it off (for fear of him ingesting it whole.....Hmm)

CuriosityCola · 07/08/2012 21:09

Somehow missed your original post Val. Your poor son. I get ulcers whenever I'm a bit run down and about to get a cold or something. Very painful.

FeijoaVodkaPlease · 08/08/2012 14:40

I honestly don't know CC we've only had it for a week and a half. At the very least it looks really nice, but I must say that she is teething (again) and in the last week we've had more full nights of sleep in a row than we've had since she was 2 months old. ( 4 out of the last 5!!!)

Sorry DS is taking it so hard Val. It sounds like you've tried eerything, so can't suggest anything sorry. All my fingers crossed those nasty teeth hurry on through.

FeijoaVodkaPlease · 10/08/2012 22:23

We're off to Edinburgh for some festival fun tomorrow. I can't wait as for all the years I've been here I haven't managed to get to the festival. We are leaving the pushchair at home and only taking our ergo carrier that neither DH or I like very much though, so it could prove ... interesting. Grin

CuriosityCola · 11/08/2012 10:33

FVP, make sure you head to St Andrews square. Lots of stuff on for little ones and good crawling/toddling space x

nickelbarapasaurus · 11/08/2012 14:20

i'm getting beaten up by a couple of posters on another thread i started yesterday.
MNHQ rightly let the thread stand because i was getting some help and support, but there are a couple of posters who think i'm a violent mum who's beating up DD and the other posters are apparently "enabling" me to do so...

ah.
i'm not replying to the thread because i don't want to spark a bunfight.

poor DD andher eczema.
went to the GP last night and explained what had happened with it this week.
he's trying one more thing then thinking about a specialist.
