There!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/12/2012 17:55

It's really slow this year! I sent a parcel to newmum001 and it took nearly a week first class Xmas Sad

Beaditsback · 19/12/2012 19:00

It's so annoying!! I post absolutely everything either recorded or special delivery but even the parcels guaranteed for the next day are taking 48 hours. Just wish customers understood its out of my hands Xmas Sad
Still..... I shut up shop yesterday to avoid the last two/three days as that's when I think it's just cutting it too fine. Going to enjoy some down time tonight as already had a two and a half hour nap Xmas Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 19/12/2012 21:02

Sounds like a plan sassy34264!! My friend is training for a mini triathalon, I think she's crazy! I'm not a great cyclist but I love swimming, can't imagine doing one after the other. It must be hard for you having been so active but I'm sure you can get back there Xmas Grin

sassy34264 · 20/12/2012 10:12

There are such things as Duathlons cinnamon where you swim first and then run - no bike. I dare you to enter one!

Wink
cinnamongreyhound · 20/12/2012 11:37

How awful to put wet feet into trainers, that alone puts me off!!!!!!!!!

Beaditsback · 20/12/2012 14:52

I thought they were biathlons and duathlonss are running, cycle then another run??
I am a totally lazy unfit freak these days. I spent 8 years swimming about 1800m 4x a week so think my body has had enough of chlorine though sometimes I do crave the smell Xmas Blush

Couldn't stand the wet feet in trainers thing either cinnamon yuk!!

sassy34264 · 20/12/2012 17:24

Ah, you are right bedit duathlons are bike run bike. I meant aqualthons. sp?

Cinnamon Nice try! But you have a transition station between disciplines were towels and dry socks would be waiting and even a woolley jumper if you wish. You can't get out of it on stating a technicality! You will just have to say you dont want to do it. Wink Grin

sassy34264 · 20/12/2012 17:36

Argh i mean run bike run! I've been out for xmas lunch with ex colleagues and had a tipple! More dozy than normal. if that's at all possible

cinnamongreyhound · 21/12/2012 13:46

Fuck! Fuck! Fuck Fuck! Fuck! I might actually cry! Dh went to collect dss from school and clutch has gone on the car, he reckons £500-£1000 which of course we don't have Sad Angry Sad. Nice start to the weekend, Merry fucking Christmas Sad. Hopefully he won't have to wait too long for the AA to arrive!

Debs75 · 21/12/2012 16:19

Happy Christmas to you all. See you all soonXmas Smile

Dixiebell · 22/12/2012 04:17

cinnamon, nightmare. We realised our MOT had run out the day Teddy was born. So drove to/from hospital w no tax or MOT Blush. It went into garage a couple of days later, failed, and it took them 2 weeks to work out what the problem was and fix it. £650. Shock And this is on top of £1100 a couple of months back for something relating to the suspension. I feel your pain!

Been up since 1am feeding, every time we transfer Teddy to Moses basket he starts hiccuping, throwing up and crying. Argh. Would like a bit more than 2.5 hours sleep tonight...

sassy34264 · 22/12/2012 15:26

What do we think?

aibu

Beaditsback · 22/12/2012 20:46

sassy really sorry to read that post. You are completely right to feel the way you do. I would be shocked to be honest as nothing like that has ever happened here and I don't think it would even occur to Dh to exclude his closest family from something like that. If money was the big issue you'd choose the right place so that it was right for everyone.
I think your plan to take C out to the flicks is a good one and see how he likes having to cope on his own for a bit. I do sometimes think men would all benefit from a 48 hour stint with the DCs on their own just to get a reality check as to what we do day in, day out.
If anything I think Dh is more hands on when we go out and about and is up, off his feet chasing around beyond I can blink.... But then we only have the one.
Do hope you manage to sort it out and in time to enjoy a really lovely Christmas together.
I think anyone writing a backlash on that thread is just utterly bored or so bitter about something...... Just ignore em Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 22/12/2012 21:20

Sad for you sassy34264, my brother is often not invited to his dp's meals out with her family and I know how hurt he is. I can see a meal out without the kids but the reason being because it would cost more is crap and he could have said lets get a sitter/your mum over and we'll go and have a meal out with my family. If his sisters child is going then it's not an adult meal out and so totally changes the event. As he enjoys cooking he could have said it's a lot of work going out with my children so I will cook you a meal at home so we can all be together. My mum would be gutted at a birthday celebration without her grandchildren! Personally though I think you should let things calm down a bit and spend your traditional Christmas eve in doing what you normally do and don't behave as badly as he has, although I understand why you want to go out.

newmum001 · 24/12/2012 09:41

Im kind of on the fence with this one tbh. Is it an afternoon thing or evening? I love going out for a meal with my mum and sister without dp and grace but only if its an evening thing. If it was afternoon my mum would go mad if i didnt bring grace. I do think hes gone about it the wrong way and the reasons he's given are totally out of order though!

sassy34264 · 24/12/2012 11:47

I know what you mean newmum but his sister has a 2 yr old and he's going and his brother's girlfriend is now going.

it is a day time lunch. tables booked for 1.30pm.

He has backtracked and wants us to go now. But im not going. Feel awkward and prefer to continue with my plans. sod him.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/12/2012 07:53

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all had a fab day yesterday and are planning something lovely today too. Hope all the new babies enjoyed their first Christmas and all our lovely two year olds enjoyed a Christmas they knew much more about! Luke was very excited and loved his dinosaur but my two had a quite a few arguements over each others presents as both wanted both and were very certain which were theirs, oh well Xmas Grin

Dixiebell · 26/12/2012 07:58

Marry Christmas! Arlo was v excited too. Favourite presents were gold choc coins which eclipsed everything else in the stocking, and a dressing gown which he refused to take off all day, despite becoming a hot red sweaty mess by lunchtime! Teddy celebrated by waking at 2, 4, 5,6 and 7 this morning!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/12/2012 17:11

Poor you Dixiebell Xmas Sad

Debs75 · 28/12/2012 22:31

Oh Sassy that would of pissed me off as well. To not invite your nearest and dearest but to invite others nearest and dearest is a bit low. How did it all go.

Dixie I remember Lucy's first Christmas and getting almost no sleep then having to sit on the sofa with her for over 2 hours whilst she had her afternoon nap. It was bliss watching everyone else tidy lunch away and make me tea.

Hoipe you all had a lovely CHristmas. All the dc's had a lovely time, very disorganised present opening and then scoffing sweets before I noticed. A lovely turkey lunch and then pudding for tea. All was fine until Boxing day when we noticed dc3 has chicken pox. She is now very spotty and covered in calamine lotion. Am hoping Lucy doesn't get it but they share a bedroom and play together all day so she will

cinnamongreyhound · 29/12/2012 08:13

Oh no! Bad timing Debs75! My two had it exactly 2 weeks apart! I highly recommend poxclin from the chemist, really helped with itchiness and is antibacterial so stops spots getting infected, was expensive but did do both with some left over :)

Debs75 · 29/12/2012 13:17

2 weeks apart that is a long time to wait till they aren't infectious. I was hoping Lucy would get it really quickly as they spend all their time together, and we want to get back to normality sooner than later. She isn't itching much and calamine is doing the job. The chemist told me calamine is the best you can do for chicken pox, never heard of poxclin before.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/12/2012 14:58

I know it was a nightmare, just back to normal from the first and then back in quarantine with the other! Poxclin is like a foam, I didn't use a lot with ds1 as he wasn't very itchy but did have one horrible infected spot which it really helped with. He was quite poorly with it whereas Luke had loads more spots and was very itchy so the poxclin was great but he had no high temp or any other sign really that he was ill.

Beaditsback · 29/12/2012 20:53

Happy belated Christmas and nearly New Year ladies.
Debs hope you're back to normal soon. Can't imagine the juggling with quarantine and so many DCs.
Christmas here was fab if chaotic given the northern road trip we do every year. Jack missed his naps for three days which actually worked quite well with the sleeping in three different houses in three different nights and in a travel cot!

Have finally crashed today. Am utterly exhausted and honestly look 5 months pregnant at just 11 weeks. A lot of banter going around about multiples but I'm keeping my fingers crossed until the scan a week on Monday.
Everyone I've seen recently now knows as its impossible to hide. I'd forgotten how drab maternity clothes are too.... Any recommendations welcome.
