dd2 seems fine after her fall but still talks about it a lot and is not so keen to tackle the stairs. She has managed to get a fresh bruise though by trying to pick up a magnetic letter (she was sticking them all on the fridge) and hitting her ride on toy (with back rest) on the way down. She cried a lot (for her) at the time and I only noticed later that night that she had a nasty bruise on her eye lid just above her eye Sad. That poor girl really has inherited my clumsiness Sad. I have always wondered whether I could make money out of my interesting and often mysteriously accquired bruises on my legs - sell pictures to medical books??
Will check fb but my car really is in a bad way. Only one tyre reliably holds air right now. Fine for around town but wouldn't be safe on the motorway.

PenguinArmy · 26/04/2012 21:59

DD has always got at least half a dozen bruises as have I.

I did a pilates thing at the children's centre today. DD joined in which was mostly very cute but she shocked everyone by doing an unintentional head stand due to climbing on me Grin I think the fact that both me and her were unfazed was good to see for the other mum's as their babies are all firsts.

My red patch is down to the size of a 50p so think I should avoid antibiotics. Hopefully DS will let me sleep OK tonight although so far he has been very unsettled and he's slept without me for a 30 min stint (which got washing up and DD mostly in bed) a 10 min, a 5 min and we are coming up to 10 again. Babies hey, who'd have them :)

sb all sounds promising

night all, just tomorrow to survive now. It's a bit weird I feel quite chirpy but looking at the facts I shouldn't me. Probably as this won't be a touch on the ILs visit on Sunday Grin

I shall look into the cost of postage and then decide whether to hold out to June or not.

StoneBaby · 27/04/2012 16:33

survival I hope the sale went well. Have a fab weekend Wine

DS weed in his potty yesterday before bath, just wondering if it's a coincidence ir if he understands that he should wee before the bath Hmm

Bearcrumble · 27/04/2012 18:27

DS refused to nap this afternoon - he spent an hour in his cot singing tunelessly instead. Now he is somewhat emotionally volatile so we are giving him an early night.

PenguinArmy · 28/04/2012 14:16

how did last night and morning get up go bc?

Bearcrumble · 28/04/2012 17:07

It was painless actually - he went to sleep without moaning at 7.30 and slept through til about 7.45

While I was reading him stories last night he told me his soft toy mouse had a tail and cats have tails. I said "Have you got a tail?" and he replied "No, just a willy". I cracked up. He's also decided that his name is now P-p-p-pear.

PenguinArmy · 28/04/2012 17:35

DD has a thing about nipples atm.

"Man have nipples. Lady have nipples. DD have nipples" and so on

InmaculadaConcepcion · 28/04/2012 18:25

Ha ha, DD is fascinated by nipples as well! Funny and cute (although a bit embarrassing if she tries to look under my top when we're in public..!!)

Glad to hear the mastitis looks like it's clearing up, PA

StoneBaby · 28/04/2012 20:21

Grin at the nipples talks

DS now tells me that he's wet after he wees... fx it's a good sign.

He had a massive 'tantrum' at nap time when I obliged him to go to bed. Screaming/calling for 10 mn. Then he slept for 2 hours Shock I went to check on him after 90mn sleep and discovered that he was trousers and nappy free, sleeping with his bum sticking up Grin Thankfully, he was dry as I was fearing for his mattress. He still went to bed at 6.30pm tho, fx it won't be an early rise tomorrow...

StoneBaby · 28/04/2012 21:19

Well I've made £15 by selling some gardening books and shoes. The good news is that our new study is nearly funished which means that I can convert the former study into DS room and have the guest room back as a guest room! Just need to think which colour to paint his new room (DS choosed yellow last time we were at B&Q).

PenguinArmy · 28/04/2012 22:46

Oh we also had this conversation

'feather, bird feather, cat eat bird'

A few days earlier she had been treated to the sight of a cat in action

yep mastitis practically gone, but happened from exactly same blocked duct so might need to investigate cause

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 30/04/2012 10:36

Good to hear PA hope you can find where it came from. With DD1 it was a bra so easy to fix, with DD2 apparently my sleeping position (we couldn't find any other cause).

I have been reading but lost tract of everything now.

StoneBaby · 01/05/2012 18:40

mous have you looked under your pillow for your alarm o'clock? I can't believe that your DD2 is a size 9 shoes Shock DS is just starting to be in a 6.

Well, we'll be home tomorrow as DS has got conjonctivitis which means a 24 hours exclusion from nursery from the time the eye starts to be treated. Confused Chicken pox has also reappeared, let's see how long it'll take for DS to catch it...

BigBadBear · 01/05/2012 18:43

You're all showing off with shoe sizes. Dd2 is still a 3 Grin

OP posts:
BigBadBear · 01/05/2012 18:45

And dd1 is only a 10 and she's five Grin

I'm only a 4. Maybe our small feet are why we all fall over so much Blush

OP posts:
StoneBaby · 01/05/2012 19:02

BBB I'm a 4 too, my mum is a 3!

StoneBaby · 02/05/2012 12:54

DS now takes his nappy off as soon as he wakes up (I think). So when I go to get him up, he's naked from the waist down. Unfortunately, this morning he weed once the nappy was off and soaked his fitted sheet (and mattress!). So I have now bought a waterproof sheet to protect the mattress.

Any advice on how to stop him doing this? I thought of using duck tape or cable ties

BigBadBear · 02/05/2012 14:15

Does he wear a vest with buttons at he bottom sb? That may delay him, as can putting a second one over the top back to front. My sister did this with her dd for exactly this reason.

OP posts:
StoneBaby · 02/05/2012 14:18

BBB no he is not as his are too small and make the night nappies leaked but I thought about it. I need to see if they exist in a size 3yo.

Bearcrumble · 02/05/2012 21:07

I think my DS has been reading this thread as he had taken his pyjama bottoms and nappy off this morning. Luckily no poo. We put him back in a sleeping bag tonight.

He's still not gone back to using the potty at all either.

StoneBaby · 02/05/2012 21:43

bc my DS manages to get out off his sleeping bag without undoing it!!i've too been lucky that none were full of poo

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 03/05/2012 06:15

SB you need those with poppers at the back, they use to go up to 3 yo, ask your mum to have a look at the market for old designs?
Vest with poppers go up to 3 yo in the UK (tesco sizes very big) I had some 4 yo from NL Hema last year.
Have you tried the night pants instead of nappies?
BC with DD1 I used over-pyjamas instead of grobag (not only because she was too big for the bags) some have a flap to hide the zip, making it difficult to open.

BBB size 3 Shock DD1 was size 3 at 6 months (DD2 never had size 3 shoes!) DH recon she will be an olympic swimmer with her flippers. Since she is still almost always on tippy toes she does fall over a lot too regardless of the size of her feet.

Brew to those under the rain. Are you all OK?
Got to call mil to check she hasn't been swept away...

BigBadBear · 03/05/2012 07:44

Dd1 has been reading this thread and decided to start toilet training yesterday Grin I was changing her pooey nappy at 4pm when she said "no nappy" so
I told her she could have knickers as long as she did all her wees and poos in the toilet. She went to the toilet seven times Hmm and did wees twice, but no accidents at all. I was a bit worried she might refuse a nappy at bedtime but she seemed happy to have it on and she obviously found the whole thing quite tiring as she didn't do her usual reading after lights out and is still asleep now Smile So fingers crossed, though it was all so relaxed that I actually quite enjoyed it Grin

I also took her back to the biomechanics man yesterday as she's been having some problems when running. He suggested ballet or gymnastics to build her strength in a safe way, given her hypermobility. So I'm researching those at the moment.

She and I had a lovely day together yesterday Smile and I had another "I can do this" moment, especially as dd1 is doing so well at school. Dh has been pretty poor recently, but I've explained to him that he is not contributing positively to my life and is making me do so much that the girls and I don't need him. I think he understands that is a dangerous position for him to be in, and I live in hope that his behaviour will change.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/05/2012 08:24

BBB sometimes you've just got to spell it out, haven't you? I hope he takes it seriously and starts addressing the issue on a permanent basis for the sake of his family (ie you and the girls) as well as himself.
Promising start with the potty training!

Mous how are things with you?

Not much to report here. My belly (and bottom - eek!) are getting fairly huge, but I'm not yet at the stage where it's debilitating. Mind you, I'm only at 23+ weeks so I'm slightly intimidated by the prospect of how much bigger I'm likely to get. DD still likes to talk about her baby brother in Mummy's tummy.

One problem is Fosbury's due date falls in a week when PILs and SIL are all out of the country and they would be my first choices to look after DD while DH and I are in hospital attending to birthing. The medical profession would rather not let me go overdue because I'm over 40, but if everything seems to be fine, I will probably request that I be given another week (provided fetal movements etc. remain consistent) so I've got a chance of a VBAC (just don't want that long hospital stay and long recuperation of a CS if I can avoid it) - and actually, the various ILs will be back then, so that would work out better from a support point of view too.

BUT we're thinking of inviting a Spanish woman (DD tends to be more comfortable with women) to come and live with us for August for free accommodation and food plus some complementary English lessons in return for speaking Spanish with DD and being available to look after her if Fosbury decides to make his appearance at that time. When we were in Madrid there were plenty of likely candidates keen to do that sort of thing as a way of improving their English etc., so hopefully it won't be too difficult to find someone. Of course, that depends on us being in a 3-bedroom house by then..!
The other possibility we're thinking about is hiring a birth doula so if the VBAC happens and takes a long time, DH can leave us to it while he looks after DD (neither he nor I are worried about him missing the birth itself, provided I've got a trusted someone with me). I've got a friend who could take DD for a few hours.

Hey ho....! I think I'm more concerned about making sure DD is properly looked after at that time than the delivery itself!

PenguinArmy · 03/05/2012 08:37

DH only made the last hour of labour as it took a while for my mum to turn up. tbh i wasn't worried whether he was there or not, it was fine.
