Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PenguinArmy · 28/02/2012 21:36

there are NOT many children coming

we have a 99p store nearby but you have to brave to go there.

I don't think there will be another party for a while, only doing this really as will be first one for the family.

The family doing OK IC?

StoneBaby · 28/02/2012 21:43

The food sounds fine to me PA
What about having some dips to go with the veg like this parents can eat too?
If my DS was limping I would get him checked but I'm a worrier and would need to put my mind at rest (I worry at the moment that the spots he has on his legs are just spots and not chicken pox Blush)

PenguinArmy · 28/02/2012 21:48

yeah I'll some hummous, but we don't want any food there that DD can't eat. Unless anyone can think of vegan dips?

My problem isn't that the baby feeds to sleep but that I need to feed the baby in order to go to sleep.

StoneBaby · 28/02/2012 21:49

PA will your ILs at the party? In that case you need some alcohol on the side for you and your DH to give you strength Grin Seriously if they come I hope it all go well

PenguinArmy · 28/02/2012 21:51

Oh they will behave SB as there are other people around. Funny how that renders them a lot quieter HmmGrin

StoneBaby · 28/02/2012 21:52

What about babaganoush (sp) which is made with aubergine? Guacamole? I'll have a think and suggest more tomorrow

PenguinArmy · 28/02/2012 21:58

ingredients aren't in season though

right really doing bed this time

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 28/02/2012 23:20

Lovely meal thanks IC. Too full to go to bed!!

PA we also go for food that the boys can eat at their own parties. Dodn't bother with dips for DS2 - children will either eat veg sticks or not - adding slop won't change that I don't think!! ASDA also do cheap plates etc... My mum bought a load when DS1 was small and they now get used for glue, paint and the occasional wee sample - had DS2 weeing into one last night in fact as I suspect that he has a UTI and want to confirm it!! (And PA me thinks you are only about an hour away from me now, so maybe we should arrange a crazy kiddy climbing championship/get together with no dairy in sight..?)

SconesForTea · 29/02/2012 11:08

I love babaganoush (no idea how to sp). I kind of try to buy seasonally but if really did, wouldn't be able to eat fresh tomatoes half the year. Or at all last year as none of my tomatoes ripened Angry

Have fun PA and on no account must you go making onion bahjis in the morning!!! You will have enough on your plate (plastic, bought from poundland Wink).

Survival glad the meal was good. You really deserve a break. Hope that DS2 doesn't have a UTI Sad

My mum doesn't really like chocolate - oddbodd. It is one of my two favourite foods (that and steak Grin When asked for my hen night quiz what my favourite food was, DH answered 'lentils and spinach' Confused?!).

SB hope the night terrors end soon. DD1 has had those a few times, it freaks me out.

Well DD1 has had three nights without her dummy and they've all been awful Proper screaming for hours the first two nights, last night I resettled her fairly easily at 3am and asked DH to do it at 4am, he couldn't though, so she cried herself back to sleep Sad I was aware that I might have been able to do it but just couldn't get out of bed. DD2 was uncharacteristically unangelic last night and had two screaming fits at midnight and 1am

DD1's second session at nursery this afternoon, she will do another 90m. Seems quite happy to go when we talk about it, will just have to see how she reacts.

Our house move has been postponed for a week (although we don't actually have a confirmed date yet Confused) so I've taken my foot off the pedal packing-wise.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 29/02/2012 12:54

PA how is the limp now? My GP didn't deal with sprains and twisted.. nor with blood, that is why I suggested the MIU, but there might be a nurse at your surgery to deal with it?

scones good luck! DD1 never had a 4 months regression, it is not mandatory
I would be more upset with DD2 antics if she was DD1 and if we had carpets she'll be fine what can you do. I have definitely reach that stage by now PA Grin

BG Grin

IC Sad You seem to take it well. I refused to have the blood tests for DD2 as due to my age there are almost always bad. Your risk of miscarriage with the amnio might be lower than that it depends a lot on the physician (I am not sure if/how you can check them?).

PenguinArmy · 29/02/2012 18:48

You lot made me all paranoid Grin so took DD to MIU. Said should heal by itself in a few days. While there I also picked up a leaflet on head injuries as she somersaulted off the sofa today. You can see the knee is swollen a bit today

survival definitely, although won't have petrol money until May --and DD will go shy on me and not climb-

InmaculadaConcepcion · 29/02/2012 19:17

Good to hear they don't think it's anything serious, PA!

Oh doh Survival on your DS2's possible UTI...!! It must feel never ending sometimes. I hope it clears up quickly. Glad you had a nice meal.

Mous I asked about the clinic's miscarriage risk for amniocentesis and the midwife said they haven't been collecting the data for long enough to give a definitive answer, but they believe they are within the national average. Hopefully all will be well. I'm still staying calm about it and trying not to think of the risks which are, after all, still very small. (Not helped by my mum telling me she "always suspected the amnio I had with DD caused my premature labour Hmm Total rubbish, of course, but I was miffed it didn't occur to her that I could do without extra worries being suggested right now.)

BabyGiraffes · 29/02/2012 20:30

IC My normally quite rational mother is convinced that my younger brother is left handed because he's the only one of four of us where she had one ultrasound scan in pregnancy Grin

BabyGiraffes · 29/02/2012 20:40

Meant to say, take no notice!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 29/02/2012 21:06

Thanks BG! I emailed mum in response and gave her the facts I had found out about the lack of any causal pattern between amniocentesis and premature labour and also made it clear I felt she had been a bit thoughtless in suggesting an extra (groundless) fear, given my current situation. She bridled a bit at that, but I explained I understood she was also worried but I wanted her to dismiss that worry as unnecessary as I had (once I'd done a bit of research to check she was indeed talking nonsense!). Anyway, we left it with an understanding of where each other was coming from, so that's okay.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 01/03/2012 05:34

IC I think our mums can be very insensitive sometime in what they are saying, but often it is misguided/displaced worry. Remember we are their babies! They want what is best for us first. (usually, sometimes it is just a generational problems
I had an amnio with DD2, and if I hadn't decided on the ElCS she would probably have been really late like her sister (there was no sign of descent or readiness at almost 38 week). No relation.

PA Glad to hear she is OK. Sorry to make you paranoid!

BG Grin at scan making you left handed!
My mum always told me I had small pox as a baby. I just had a very bad reaction to the vaccine my dad still "resent" it because he missed the landing on the moon being in hospital with me. There hasn't been a small case in europe since way before I was born. People laughed at me before I realised her mistake.
I am sure we will be the same (in a different way) with our children.
We much more access to informations than our parents and they are still not used to look for it even if it is available.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 01/03/2012 05:57

I really should edit first before posting Hmm.
Forgot to say ggggaaaaahhhh! It has snowed again!

BabyGiraffes · 01/03/2012 09:30

mous Grin at small pox and Shock at new snow. We had a beautiful spring day yesterday with about 13 degrees and the park is full of daffodils.

BabyGiraffes · 01/03/2012 09:32

...and we woke this morning to thick fog! It was quite spooky to walk to school and see lots of children in Welsh costumes floating about... (St David's day)

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 01/03/2012 10:31

Happy Daffodil!
What no daffodil this year?
Have those Thanks instead, it is spring and lovers day today here.

BabyGiraffes · 01/03/2012 10:33

St Davids Grin

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 01/03/2012 10:41

St Davids doh! Bear

PenguinArmy · 01/03/2012 12:44

:)

who is also trying his hardest to latch onto my arm as I type Hmm

BigBadBear · 01/03/2012 13:19

Nigel's rolling?! Wow, that's good (though makes life more difficult for you PA). By the way, I think of you every time the Chris Moyles Show on Radio talks about Sport as they have said that the person who sends you back a text when you make a donationis called Nigel.

I have news: I have finished the massive project I have been working on for the last year. That's 400,000 words edited and 400,000 words proof read, as well as all the other stuff I do. My old boss is taking me out for lunch tomorrow to mark the occasion, which is very exciting.

Good luck with the party PA. IC good luck with amnio, sorry your mum was a bit off hand about it.

We're having night terrors here too
