IveBeenExpectingYou · 10/12/2011 18:50

Nope, still PESH here, Pone.

Just been hangin' out in the CRESH to see what I've let myself in for catch up Grin.

It's a wee girl in there, and she's due at the end of March, though I now know that due dates mean very, very little....

rocketleaf · 11/12/2011 10:29

Only just tracked this down and so glad I did. Another relative newb to welcome shinysmiler that is a totally AMAZEBALLS story. Sounds like you had a very rough time but things are looking up big style. Voluntary adoption does indeed sound very sensible and mature. Look forward to pics in tother place of little smirker.

Cheers for naice new thread, cossie looking forward to lots of billy bear advice.

rocketleaf · 11/12/2011 10:32

Ps, sprouts nappies used to smell of caramel truffs now they smell disgusting! :-(

islegrin · 11/12/2011 11:39

I'm a true mess over here! (must be all that dust, did someone call maintenance???) You have bowled me over, with gin and toe stomps, it's so great to see all of you, Camel, Cockdodger, GinHag, Poniiiieeeezzzzz, Medee, Cosmos, Ocarina, Muser and dear GhostyGirl! I'm am also filling up all the glasses of my new ESHettes Okie, Rocketleaf, and Truffs. (Read your marvelous birth story - I am so happy for you ahem, here have a shot!

Ahhh frick the last minute nerves have me a wreck! Daft cow - crying in the shower, then I didn't help myself any watching gooey love movies! (the Notebook) Ahhh all will be well, if this doesn't pan out, I'll just ask Santa to fill my order!

The doctor's aren't very good at predicting this LO (yes it is a BOY!!), and b-mom is in some pain, so they'll induce likely Tuesday or Wednesday. So we only have 3-4 days of uncertainty left. OK - enough of this stuff - let's get back to the certainty of your babes in arms and the madness they long for!

(I'll also have a look for you all in the "other" place, I'm sure there are some pretty good pics over there.)

AlpinePony · 11/12/2011 12:35

isle AFAIK, crying when you're about to become a mummy is very normal! ;) wait until weds/thurs, you'll be a blubbing wreck! Alas you're a week too late for our secret Santa this year but I suppose you don't give a shit given what you're getting for Christmas! Are the doggies all ready?

Brilliant news cockdodger! Congrats on your little girl.

okiecokie · 11/12/2011 22:33

Tis all veh emotion in t'Cresh. An adoption and a cockdodger birf. Tis wonderful. Life is wonderful.

okiecokie · 11/12/2011 22:33

Ahem, I have had a few. It is Christmas afterall...

CurlyCasper · 12/12/2011 17:22

wow, this really is a time for giving lots of good news. Very excited about the cock-dodging girl and Island boy.

islegrin · 12/12/2011 22:05

My heart is in my THROAT and my fingernail polish is on the floor (because I keep ripping it off my nails.) I hope everyfink goes great Today/Tues/Wed (remember I'm on the other side of the world) and we have to make a trip to pick up this isleboy!

Gin and poo wipes for you all!

AlpinePony · 13/12/2011 13:44

Because when life is cruising something always throws a spanner in the works...

Got home from the hospital today and could hear my other phone frantically ringing upstairs, realise the creche has been trying to reach me from about 15 minutes after we dropped him off. Voicemail says "he's come out in a rash/hives - getting worse by the minute, we're taking him to the doctor". Phoned back and he'd been to the doctor, doctor thinks food allergy but not serious thank the lord! This happened about 9:30am. He had milk at 6am, an ella's biscuit/nut chewbar thing at 7:30 and 8:55 am (half at each point) and a small packet of raisins. At creche he was going to have banana and other fruit. OK, so the biggest contenders there would be the milk (3 hours for a reaction and why now? ) and of course the nut bar.

It's been happening a bit over the last week, what we thought were insect bites had been getting bigger, but you know, looked like a mosquito bite or a stinging nettle sting - fairly innocuous stuff. But all these raised hives disappeared within 30 minutes or so.

Luckily the doctor they took him to was our own GP so they had all his notes on file.

Any ideas anyone? We were thinking of keeping a strict food diary to try and figure out what it is which is not agreeing with him.

CurlyCasper · 13/12/2011 14:49

How often does he have the Ella's bars? because they sound like the biggest culprit to me. Poor Bear.

Nearly there cuntshine, nearly there Xmas Grin

AlpinePony · 13/12/2011 15:33

Only once a week or so and I've just read the ingredients and it's all fruit except some wheat... And he has bread daily. :/ my googling tells me that it could also be a remnant of this cold virus he's had, either way does not seem serious. (Fingers crossed!)

CurlyCasper · 13/12/2011 18:54

Ah, I thought they were nutty bars, so made the obv connection. squeaks skin is affected every time she's ill. She gets v blotchy and spotty. Sad

AlpinePony · 13/12/2011 19:17

Yes I thought they were nutty too, but ingredients say no. Apparently doc had asked whether he'd recently had a cold... All we can do is keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Cosmosis · 14/12/2011 17:08

blimey poor bear :( how is he now? agree with skin probs when poorly though.

OP posts:
rockingaroundtheXmasleaf · 14/12/2011 22:42

oh poor bear, I hope he's recovering? Hopefully its just a breakout from the cold then.

Sprouts eczema seems to have spread to her face a bit (while clearing up elsewhere) I think because she's getting wiped so much more now we are weaning, it's drying her skin out plus she is all dribbly with teething. Doesn't seem to be bothering her too much yet though fingers crossed it doesnt get worse.

AlpinePony · 15/12/2011 04:53

He's absolutely fine really, it comes and goes within minutes and I suppose the reason why the creche had such a panic is that you can't take chances with allergies in case it's a severe reaction!

Have said in other place, I wonder if it's something to do with the "ginger gene" and them having super sensitive skin?

rocket Bear has had terrible skin around his mouth & eyes when wiped, we try and avoid wiping and now rather than using baby wipes we use just a cloth & water. How are you getting on with the Burt's Bees stuff anyway?

rockingaroundtheXmasleaf · 15/12/2011 09:28

Ah maybe the ginger gene at work here too then :-( I only use a cloth and water, I don't really use baby wipes at all so they are not handy I didn't get the Burts Bees in the end although its on my wishlist. I already had some Weleda stuff and then the doc gave us Aveeno on prescription so I wanted to see how we got on with that before using the Burts. I thought if I was using too many different things then I wouldn't know which was working! The eczema on her legs has all but gone and she's just got a patch on her tum and a few bits in the elbow and knee creases but its got SO much better. I've been using the Weleda skin protection on her face just the last few days and that's really helped. The thing I find with it is that you get rid of it in one place and it pops up in another!

CurlyCasper · 15/12/2011 10:40

Yup, I think Squeaks has got ginger skin, even without the ginger hair. She gets spotty so easily. I just hope that she doesn't inherit all my sensitivities! We are doing cloth and water instead of wipes too, but it's very hard to stick to 100 per cent of the time. Hope Bear and Sprout improve soon.

AlpinePony · 15/12/2011 12:15

Well, the mystery is possibly solved. 2 hours after milk we opened his Tesco Thomas advent calendar... 2 minutes later a big lump on his cheek and one on his face! So tomorrow he can open the door but will find a regular smarting stuffed behind it. Wtf do they put in them? :(

curly did you mum ever say anything about your skin as a baby?

rocket that sounds shit re: chasing exzema. :(

CurlyCasper · 15/12/2011 13:08

Not specifically as a baby, because my skin has been so sensitive throughout life. I looked seriously slapped about in most of my childhood pics, much the same way Squeaks does. Everytime we do flash photography of her, she looks dirty/blotchy! Sad

IveBeenExpectingYou · 15/12/2011 19:33

Sorry, Coke, no CockDodger birf here yet. I'm sorry to disappoint, but I'm only 25 weeks PESH so far.

I did, however have water leakage yesterday, but it's all cleared up now and fine and dandy.

Can I also out myself as a scabby-skinned ginger while I'm here? Thanks Smile

rockingaroundtheXmasleaf · 16/12/2011 09:24

It's not so bad pone it doesn't seem to be bothering her much (yet) weirdly I have never had particularly sensitive skin (apart from to the sun), TB is the one prone to eczema and only mildly so I am hoping it's just something she'll grow out of.

Glad you found the source of the hives anyway!! Does make you wonder what the hell is in there. Mind you it's pretty cheap chocolate normally so prob bulked out with all sorts! You'll have to get him a £25 Belgian chocolate one next year ;-)

Cosmosis · 20/12/2011 08:42

today I am mostly attempting to work from home. Artie is currently removing all the cds from the rack. Should keep him quiet for a while anyway.

OP posts:
CurlyCasper · 20/12/2011 09:25

Good luck with that cosmo. I have a CD fan here too.

Today, I shall be mostly attempting to avoid work. Thankfully, I am due in a very long meeting that shall be accompanied by Christmas nibbles, and my aim is to make it last by asking lots of little questions. Xmas Grin
