Plumps comfy pillows, shakes warm fluffy blankets, passes them round, sleeps

Oh, I should give you context: he's mixed fed these days. Normally gets a boob after work about 5, then a bottle (about 3-4oz), maybe a bit of tea then the other boob before bed at 7ish.

He's been more predictable in his wakings for the last few weeks, but was up every 2 hours on Sunday night.

Tonight is the first time he's guzzled so much after having 5pm boobs (both) and a proper tea.

We shall see...

Buttery Gash!!! Xmas Grin Sorry GGF, there ends my childishness!

Starshaped · 06/12/2011 21:25

Ooh, I've just bought my SS pressie online too Xmas Smile. Exciting!

It's good to hear some stories from the other side re FF/BF and sleep. Some people have made me feel a bit crap when I moan about P's sleep and implied that it's my fault for BF. Obviously, I'm not glad that you're not having great nights Buck and Fizz but it's nice to know that formula isn't always a cure for all sleeping woes.

Like you ILike, I know that P's waking isn't related to hunger so I'm not convinced it would make much difference how she was fed. I'm just very jealous of people with 8 week old babies that sleep though every night. Grrrh!

Loving the nativity story GGF. We've got it all to look forward to the years to come! BTW, I must be more pure of mind than the rest of you - I've always read Gache as rhyming with face

Starshaped · 06/12/2011 21:26

X posts - fingers crossed for tonight Buck. We could do with a decent night too.

GsyGacheFiend · 06/12/2011 21:36

I know Fizz, In my head as I was typing I could just imagine the sentence being spoken in a Carry On film Grin

GsyGacheFiend · 06/12/2011 21:41

I'm liking the rhyming with face Guernsey gace Star, It makes me sound most posh and proper like Grin Grin

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 07/12/2011 01:00

T is awake, properly wide awake! We have tried everything, DH is currently pushing him round the kitchen in the buggy...

BuckminsterFullerene · 07/12/2011 02:05

Sympathy Ali, hope he settles soon.

F is up. Just checked his nappy, all clear so feeding to sleep. Except now he's just gone and filled it. Bum.

JKSLtd · 07/12/2011 09:12

Hi just to add to the feeding/sleeping debate; M is only BF and sleeps well. She normally goes 7ish to 8ish when I have to get her up for sch runs. She sometimes wakes in the night but just wants her dummy.
Not crawling or talking or much else yet though!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 07/12/2011 09:19

T went back to sleep at 3am

The most recognisable sound he makes is his brother's name. It isn't talking but he is trying to imitate.

So, so tired.

Cyclebump · 07/12/2011 09:58

That's rough Ali, hope you can get some rest today.

I think the whole FF and they'll sleep through thing is a myth. I have friends with good sleepers and bad sleepers and there's no common factor for either (unfortunately).

H still snotting for England. Quick feed at 2.45 then away from 5.30-8 before a nap until 9. I'm lazy sensible so went back to bed when he did.

GlaikitFizzEggNog · 07/12/2011 09:58

B has found his tongue in the last week so we are getting lots of la la las (have I said this already?) and trying to lick anything within a 6 inch radius! I was getting worried as he hadn't ever stuck his tongue past his bottom lip even after his TT was snipped! He has also developed his high pitched scream to inform us he is displeased with something. Whatever he isn't happy with isn't always obvious to us though! I think I need to teach him to point!

The new object of his affections is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! I blame my sister!

Hot dog hot dog hot diggity dog.......

DairyBeetle · 07/12/2011 11:37

I'm sneakily logged on at work shhhh!<

I've just had to hide my sniggers at all the talk of GGF's buttery Gache! Xmas Grin Think that would have taken some explaining in the office!

We're still in the little to no sleep camp. Yesterday was much better, S crashed out just after 6 when I was feeding him when we got in from work. So I put him straight to bed, he had a another feed around 9ish then slept through till about 1ish when he came in with us, fed then didn't wake till 5ish when he fed again and slept till 7.30. It's not the 11 hour stretches we used to have >looks longingly into the distance< but it's better than the every hour or so we had the night before.

S is still pretty much all snot, though thankfully his chest has cleared and he doesn't sound like a 50 a day smoker so much. His eyes are horribly gunky though. I'm having to wipe them every morning with cool water and cotton wool as they're stuck closed. I'm hoping he doesn't develop conjunctivitis at the moment.

What else have I to report? Umm we've had clapping for awhile and he's developing quite a sense of timing, at the weekend he clapped after MIL farted Xmas Grin. (Thank goodness my MIL has a good sense of humour!). We're still not properly crawling, more of a comando crawl type shuffle, which makes me think he's going to start with the pulling up and cruising instead (at the moment the wooden floors are impeading this, I can't say I'm too sad as I like being able to put him down and know he'll be there when I get back!). We also have sticking out of his tongue and raspberry blowing competitons and the beginings of waving. S has also started to 'share' things, which is very cute but the well smushed bit of banana isn't all that fun!

Not much in the way of talking but I think we're nearly there with Dada, no sign of Mama though!

Oh and he can also locate the power cable for the laptop no matter where we hide it. Which is why I'm only MNetting at work after he got it (not plugged in thankfully!) and it no longer charges the laptop! I think training S to play with the plug is all part of DH's plan to justify an iPad! Xmas Wink

OP posts:
fraktious · 07/12/2011 12:34

We get mamama and bababa and something which sounds suspiciously like boob boob boob. No dada but something which might be papa. An astonishing range of vowels though because I'm sad and do phonemic transcription of baby vocalisations and ear splitting screech.

9 days til holiday Grin

2 days til measles jab Sad

BuckminsterFullerene · 07/12/2011 18:01

Ooh, Frak that sounds fascinating Grin

F doesn't roll, or crawl, but he's started reaching and flexing for things. He says baba, rara and dadad, and growls a LOT! He's been screaming about his displeasure for a Kong time now.

He's eaten his own bodyweight today apparently. Surely that'll help his sleep?!

GlaikitFizzEggNog · 07/12/2011 18:42

How many bananas a day is acceptable for a 7 month old? Bs had 3! Its all he'll eat just now. I'm going yo have a nightmare fussy eater aren't I?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/12/2011 19:07

You may want to go easy with the banana's Fizz, I've got a feeling they've got a reputation of causing constipation. A lot of fluids should help the digestive transit!

lol at Bucks 'Kong time' Grin

No words here, just lots of shrieking Hmm He probably feels he has to do it to be heard over his brother. He is desperately trying to work out how to crawl. He gets his bum in the air, up on his elbows and on his tip toes, but then rolls instead of going further into a crawling position.

The separation anxiety has started I can't even go for a wee without him getting upset. Even having his brother doing an entertaining jig in front of him helps, he only stops when I come back.

Dairy - I love that ds clapped after your MIL farted, how clever of him! Grin

How are you feeling ali? Did you manage to get a nap in at all today? It's very cute that T is sounding out his brothers name.

I should have had a sleep at lunchtime. I'm meeting a friend for dinner tonight but the earliest she can get there is 8.30. I usually eat my dinner at 5.30 and more often than not I'm in bed at 10 Blush

JKSLtd · 07/12/2011 19:42

ILike - me too, sometimes DH gets home at 9 and would like to eat a takeaway with me but i really can't eat that late. I aim to be in bed with something starting with a 9, light off around 10.

GlaikitFizzEggNog · 07/12/2011 20:11

See that's what I thought. I personally cent stand them!

chillikat · 07/12/2011 21:28

Ali, I know how you feel with the sleep thing. We also spent 2 hours awake last night - we did 2.30-4.30 and I really lost the plot so DH was trying to settle her. The main problem is putting her back in the cot wthout her waking and crying but we eventually managed it.
Re the BF or FF debate - next door has a son a month younger than M, so the same age as some of Aprilites. He's FF and wakes loads during the night too. At the moment I think it's developmental, hopefully it'll settle when she finally cracks crawling. Currently she's going backwards quite well and can just manage forwards if there's something tasty to aim for - like paper Hmm
We don't have any words I can make out. Lots of noise, sadly wingey noise today. She is (usually) the smiley-est baby ever.
Here's hoping for a better night for all. So far only one resettle here but she's developed my cough from last week :( so DH has done an emergency run to Tesco for cough medcine.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 07/12/2011 21:44

Chilli it is a killer isn't it? One day they will sleep, one day

Fizz - go easy on the bananas, firstly because of constipation but also the potassium levels are high. One a day every day is fine, 3 in a day is fine occasionally but not regularly.
DS1 was, and is, a banana lover and would eat 2-3 a day if I let him! My Mum is a GP and gave me the above advice. :)

ILike - no, no nap. T slept for a while when we were in town, but DS1 only had his preschool Christmas party today for 2 hours and no preschool apart from that, so it has been a harder day than normal even! I've gone past tired and out the other side now, and still need to sort the online shop to come on Friday

We have separation anxiety here too. I have to put the stairgate over and let T roam about on the landing with the bathroom door open while I pee because he roars with fury if I put him in his cot and leave him there. I also employ big brother as an entertainer here Grin

MrsWajs · 07/12/2011 21:49

Fizz I think bananas also contain quite a lot of potassium so maybe not so good for little B to have too many :)

Since we're discussing developmental achievments, R can do mamama, dadada, bababa and nanana - with furrowed eyebrows, normally when she's not happy about something like getting vests and dresses/tops over her head! Not sure why she doesn't like that!
She can roll both ways now but not in such a determined fashion that it get's her from A to B, only if she's in the mood!! We've had the occasional lift up on to elbows and lots of flailing of arms and legs kinda like she's trying to "swim" the carpet :) so think crawling is a long way off yet thank god. A new trick is flinging her head back repeatedly whilst in the high chair, making feeding a tiny bit difficult, she'll also do it when I'm holding her resulting in lots of bitten lips (me) and a bruised head (her).
Can anyone elses LO roll & twist their tongue? R's been doing it for a while and I was pretty amazed that it would be something they'd learn so early on?!
No clapping or waving going on here but lots of face slapping!! Not sure that counts though. And my very favourite - scratching her head!! It's hilarious.

Nothing new to report otherwise, stayed at my mums last night and tonight whilst carpets get cleaned and living room painted at our house. It's a bit of a pain as her house is huge and therefore freezing so R woke at 6.30 this morning and wasn't keen to go back down but did eventually in with me at 7.30. Was hopeful I might then get a long lie but some idiot started balling and shouting right outside the bedroom window at 8.15 so she woke again. However I am going to count myself lucky all the same. Sympathies to those who were up half the night.

MrsWajs · 07/12/2011 21:52

Sorry x-posts re: potassium Ali :)

GlaikitFizzEggNog · 08/12/2011 11:14

MrsWajs & Arch Hope you guys are ok inthe weather! It's scary here, wheelie bins flying about in the street a dirty nappy just blew up and whacked the kitchen window. Power keeps going off but did I mention Xmas Grin I have a gas hob now so I can still boil water, heat food etc!!

Thanks for the banana info. I was just getting a bit desparate for him to eat something. Is this a normal thing for them to refuse to eat? He did have some fish veg and mash last night. Would I be better just offering him little bits throughout the day rather than 3 meals? I'm struggling with this weaning malarky!

I made pancakes this morning on my new cooker(have I mentioned that yet?) so he had one of those. More ended up on the floor than anywhere else I think!

chillikat · 08/12/2011 11:47

Glad your hob is coming in useful Fizz. I like having a gas hob for the same reason, though we don't often get powercuts. We also have an open fire so can keep warm in such an event, though it does spit and as such the playmat now has a burn to go with the red wine stains - we really must stop M drinking and smoking around her toys Xmas Grin
Was last night any better for you Ali? We had a really good night - 2 or 3 resettles before midnight then slept til nearly 7am despite her cough. It sounds grim though - very throaty. I think we'll be giving the last baby yoga session a miss this afternoon. She's currently napping on me which isn't great as my arm is aching and i just want to stroke her lovely head which wakes her up.
