Fizz that sounds utterly shite Sad I think you could probably get them for discrimination about the interview process (or lack of!)

DH isn't very busy today so I've had a lie in! Our plan had been a very early night last night, but T didn't settle until 11! He went down after his bath as normal but then woke after an hour and wouldn't drop off again. Then he woke at 3, and then DS1 was up for the day at half five which he does about twice a year! Rah rah rah.

MrsW - your SIL and baby will be fine at 35 weeks, I hope you've managed to get hold of someone!!

MrsWajs · 15/11/2011 10:21

Panic over, eventually managed to get the number from SIL to contact DBro, he is now on dry land and making the 12 hour drive home. Also got in touch with my parents eventually! They aren't in the med at all but in Israel!! Hmm

SIL and baby are thus far fine. Results came back clear this morning so she is getting to come home again but needs to go in every 2 days for monitoring and bloods and if labour hasn't started spontaneously by 36 weeks she'll be taken back in for induction, so hopefully by this time next week I'll be an auntie! Grin

JoEW · 15/11/2011 10:33

Hey all!

Quick post from me, mainly to say, Choca, if you're on here again, I can't make Thurs now. C starts settling in at nursery next Mon and I'm back at work on 1st Dec but let me know if you still fancy a coffee as I am sure I can find a date.

Fizz, that sounds diabolical. Hope you manage to get something sorted and good luck for the interview.

Cycle, very sad about your neighbour.

MrsW, hope all goes well with SIL. Keep us posted!

caramellokoalalover · 15/11/2011 17:02

Welcome 5! We use the Pampers Active Fit and haven't had any leakage at night since changing to them. Smile

MrsW hope your SIL and niece are doing well.

Yes to secret santa from me. I love getting presents in the post.

I'm getting ridiculously excited as I go away on Friday for the weekend to visit a friend. No children! A bed of my own. I may not leave the hotel, I might just sleep the entire time. S has been waking min 3 times a night lately for a feed. Teething sucks.

BuckminsterFullerene · 15/11/2011 20:13

Hello!

Well, F is much better, but DH is puking now. This either means I'll follow suit shortly, or I've missed it (since we're already 3 days post first puke, and DH never actually got puked on).

Oh, I hope it's the latter.

I had such a nice day at work today too.

chillikat · 15/11/2011 21:20

Buck, M has joined in the puking tonight as I was giving her a bedtime feed. I can't believe how much can come out of such a small person. Result was I had to completely strip, she was was completely stripped other than the nappy and we've changed the bedding! I also had to rinse myself off - urgh!
Another feed and she seems more soundly asleep now than she has done for a week or so - an hour in and no wake up yet, we've had 2 or 3 by now recently.
I am expecting to do a few feeds in the night to fill her up again.

Starshaped · 15/11/2011 21:24

Hello all,

Glad F is better Buck - fingers crossed that you manage to swerve the bug.

Welcome 5! We use Pampers Baby Dry at night. They've only ever caused P to be damp once and that was when she needed to be moved up to a bigger size. Other than that, they do a pretty good job.

Envy at your night away Caramello. Just think about the unbroken night of sleep coming your way. Bliss!

Fizz Work sounds crap. Sorry that they've been so rubbish with you.

Kitty How's the first week back going?

Had a bit of a rubbish day with food today. I think P is a bit under the weather and she's not fancied anything that I've offered her. I was particularly peed off that she turned her nose up at the worlds most complicated puree recipe that I slaved over this morning. Mind you, to be fair the finished product was pretty minging, so I don't entirely blame her! Serves me right for not going down the BLW route!

Do any of the April babies have Weetabix for breakfast? If so, how much do you usually give them - a whole biscuit? And if so, how much of it do they actually eat?

And now for a non baby related question. Have any of you ever recognised somebody you know in RL on here? I've come across somebody who I'm 100% certain is a friend of a friend. They've posted some very personal stuff, which has made them really identifiable. WWYD - just ignore the posts?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 15/11/2011 21:35

Ooh Star a tough one

I think I might like a PM as a heads up, along with an assurance that the person who had identified me wouldn't say anything or identify themselves to me in RL.
At least then they have the opportunity to get the thread deleted, or namechange or whatever.

We give T Weetabix, and depending on how hungry he is he will eat somewhere between half and the whole thing.

BuckminsterFullerene · 15/11/2011 21:43

Chilli sorry to have shared the bug with you, but an interesting development in internet technology. It is a phenomenal volume of puke, isn't it. F was I'll for about 24 hrs (I think) from first to last puke. He's now been ok for 24 hrs.

I've moved into the spare room for tonight, partly so I don't have to disturb DH getting up for F, but mostly cos I'm grossed out by his vomming.

Thanks Star, I'm crossing everything here.

Re knowing someone in RL, I'd let it go. Read what they're happy to post if you want, ignore if you'd rather not know. That's what I'd hope someone would do if they thought they recognised me.

GlaikitFizzog · 15/11/2011 21:49

Weetabixer here too. If spoon feeding with a mashed banana anywhere between one spoon and the whole thing. If I'm feeling brave and just soften in in a drip of milk and do the BLW thing your guess is as good as mine!! All I know is that I could still be finding it in his ear ans up his nose in 3 days :o

Day 2 in the hell hole office! They suddenly remembered that I could log on to the computed the scanner is attached to Hmm so I got to do some real work!! I also took the chance with system access to check the flexible working policy. It's my boss that decides if I get it in the first instance, then is she says no I can appeal. So basically she said yesterday that once I'd pointed out what I wanted to do, it was unlikely for her to agree to that. Which actually pisses me off enormously. She starts late 2 days and works late to maintain her hours so she can do the school drop off. My replacement finished up at 2.30 yesterday so she could do the pick up. So what would be the difference to me doing the equivilent of 3 full days in just over 2.5??? So B isn't in nursery 3 full days. If it's refused, I'll be fighting them all the way believe you me!

I also got access to my emails for the first time since feb. there were 1000s. But the one that got my goat was the one announcing Bs birth, sent by boss on the 15th May. B was born on the 30th April Shock. And I'm still bitter about not getting a card or a present from them. God do I really want to go back there in 2 months???????

Sorry for ranting again.

MrsWajs · 15/11/2011 22:16

Think we may or may not have caught the bug here too!! How random?! R has thrown up randomly about 4 times today, nappies are fine and she doesn't seem too fazed by it. She is full of the cold though and I think her teeth are bothering her as she's been drooling rivers so that's making her a bit grumpy! Not really sure what to think of the puking?

Chili R will eat almost a whole Weetabix :) and then a slice of toast!

We use Pampers Baby Dry and they are almost always damp by morning, sometimes so much that the sleeping bag is wet Hmm don't think it's the wrong size as they've done it ever since we started using the size 3s?? Never had a problem with 2s tho? What size is everyone elses LOs in in nappies?

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 15/11/2011 22:25

We use Baby Dry here too when we use disposies, and have never had problems. One thing I have found over the years is that it is worth going a size up for an overnight nappy to allow for the extra volume of wee. So T has a size 4+ nappy normally, and is then in size 5s overnight.

We bought him his first little cruising shoes today because he keeps slipping over and banging his head trying to walk around the furniture. The woman in John Lewis didn't believe that he was cruising, kept saying how little he was etc until I put him on the floor and he hauled himself up on those funny little seats they have in shoe shops. Then she went and got some shoes Grin They are a size 2.5

GsyGacheFiend · 15/11/2011 22:25

Quite a bit to catch up on. Welcome 5more and get well soon to all the snuffly. pukey babies (P's turn next, she was all snotty this morning).

MrsW Hope you manage to contact your DB.

Nappywise, I've always found the Pampers Baby Dry better suited for nighttime than the ActiveFit.

Ali I am very Envy of your pudsey pj's. Had an email from DS preschool at the weekend and they are having a Bear party on thursday, which means DS will be there and a spotty outfit is required. As you so correctly pointed out there is sweet FA available in polka dotted boyswear. Unfortuantely nowhere here seems to have the official merchandise. I've got half a metre of polka dotted material from the fabric shop and some iron-on hemming tape, tomorrow afternoon should be fun Hmm.

Secret santa sounds like fun, (if people don't mind posting something to Guernsey).

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 15/11/2011 22:29

Fizz - I am keeping a bit quiet about your work situation because it mirrors a lot of what happened to me while I was on mat leave after DS1. You really have my sympathy, it is shitty horrible feeling. Chin up and don't let it spoil your time with B.

GsyGacheFiend · 15/11/2011 22:41

oops forgot to refresh page before posting....

MrsW Glad your DB is on his way and SIL is doing ok.
Fizz Sorry your boss is being a PITA, you'd hope that being a parent herself would make her more sympathetic to your requirements, [ifonlyemoticon]

Another weetabixer here too. P will easily eat a whole one along with some fruity fingers. I have no idea where she puts it all.

GlaikitFizzog · 15/11/2011 22:45

Right ladies as I am in work mode now I will take on the secret santa organising (unless anyone else wants too). Message me on FB if you want to be included with your address and I'll do some sort of raffle type draw to select who gets who. Should the gifts give clues as to who they are from??

GGF I just received my personalised cards from a well known card personalising company based in Guernsey!! I may be being ignorant but doesn't it just cost the same to post something to Guernsey?

Ali, it is shitty. I might just buy a lottery ticket this week. It could be ME!!

GlaikitFizzog · 15/11/2011 22:47

Ha [ifonlyemoticon] She had perfect pregnancies, worked right up until the night she went into labour and has had perfect kids since! Hmm

GsyGacheFiend · 15/11/2011 23:07

I checked the Royal Mail website to compare Fizz. Letters cost the same but they don't offer their standard parcel delivery price to Guernsey, only a First class parcel price. Confused (which is the same price as it would be if posting it to somewhere in the UK but it just usually just takes a bit longer to get here).

Sassy20 · 15/11/2011 23:52

Catching up as have been ill - yes the sickness bug got me and poor L too Envy(sick face not envy)!

We use pampers baby dry and L is in size 3 - no complaints - seem to work really well.

Quick question, how long would you leave a cough before visiting docs? L been coughing now since Friday and is waking herself up sometimes.

Sassy20 · 15/11/2011 23:56

Fizz sorry to hear work is so rubbish. I'm having a nightmare trying to work out back to work. Previously I have worked 6.30 and 9am starts but have asked for a fixed shift to make drop off and pick up at nursery possible as dh works shifts! Despite fact that we both work for same organisation there would appear to be little flexibility being shown. It's driving me mad and I'm getting worked up about it and not even due back till march! Angry

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/11/2011 09:24

Sassy - if you think the cough is a sign of a cheat infection, then go to the GP. If it is just a cough I wouldn't bother as there is nothing they can do. However, if you are unsure, go see the GP.

Fizz- what a shitty situation with work, I hope it gets resolved and soon.

Baby I is in size 5 nappies, but he is a biffa. Fact.

Talking of biffa's, we were at the hospital yesterday (more of that later), and there was a mum there with her 5mo son who was there because he was so big. He was huge, maybe even bigger than ds, and I think ds is a giant amongst babies. Anyway, the mum and another lady got talking (very loudly) in the waiting room and the mum of giant baby said how the HV had told her to wean her ds at 12 weeks because he was so big Shock, and the other lady replied that she put baby rice in her ds's bottle from when he was 10am old because he was so hungry Shock. I honestly thought people were educated enough ot to do things like that anymore. I had to bite my lip and pulled my judgey pants up as far as they would go!

We were at the hospital because of ds's recurrent impetigo. We checked in at the desk

Receptionist 'take a seat and someone will come and do ds's height and weight'
Me 'no he won't be being weighed or measured'
Receptionist 'oh, why not?'
Me 'he is here to see a dermatologist not a dietician'

I understand that national statistics have to be gained, however if they actaullt said to you 'could we take a weight and measurement for national statistics' then I would probably agree. But the way it is presented is as if they are doing it as some part of the child's treatment, which of course most if the time it isn't. I shall now get off of my soapbox and pull out my judgey pants which are firmly wedged up my bum! Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 16/11/2011 10:08

ILTMIMI I would have had my judgey pants up over my headand tied in a bow with those two Shock

GGF I'll warn whoever gets you that they'll need to post before the usual deadline if it's me I'm already sorry :)

For everyone feeling crap get well soon.

Another ropey night here, we went to bed and after about an hour B woke up. We dosed with calpol and resettled him. Then he was awake again within half an hour, DH walked the hall with him until he droppped off again. Then he woke up again. By this point it was nearly 3 and I don;t think I'd slept yet. I fed him then because I was running out of options. Still wouldn't sleep so and 4.30 I ended up taking him to the spare room and we both fell asleep in there. DH managed to get up and out of the house without me hearing him, so our little chat the other night about him clumping about in his shoes must have worked!! Unfortunatly at about 7.05 someone peeped their horn and woke us both. Turns out it was DH by accident trying to clear the condensation from the windscreen! Can't have it all eh??

He's had another hour after breakfast and I tried to get my head down too, but not to be!!

Back to normal today and for that I am very grateful!

GsyGacheFiend · 16/11/2011 13:22

Cheers Fizz It should only take a couple of extra days to get here.

I would have well and truly hoisted my Judgey pants too ILTMI

I just had the appointment through for P's 8 month check next Friday with the HV. With DS they always did home visits. For P however, it seems I have to trek up to the clinic with DS in tow Hmm

GsyGacheFiend · 16/11/2011 13:41

Oh, and the HV who I have been given an appointment to see is the one I locked horns with last time, should be entertaining Wink

Starshaped · 16/11/2011 14:24

We don't get any home visits from the HV after the very first one. They don't even seem bothered if you go to Baby Clinic or not. After reading all the HV horror stories on here, I've decided it's probably not a bad thing. Having said that, the HVs that I've seen don't seem to have been too bad - very supportive of BF, pro BLW (to the point of pissing a lot of the mums I know off TBH) and generally quite sensible. I think I've been lucky so far!

Sassy One of my friend's babies has had a cough for a couple of months now. They've been to the doctors four times now and although they've been sympathetic, there's not been anything that they can offer them. As ILike said, there's not much they can do unless it's on the chest.

Right, off to rescue P. She's crawling now (backwards only) and keeps reversing and getting stuck in various places. I'm so not ready for a mobile baby...
