Thought I would starta new thread as the old one hadbeen runnning for ages and was getting kinda long.

Eshay, Not sure about what age to expect the night terrors but i defo think Evie is getting them. She stayed at my brothers on Saturday and woke at 2.30am absolutely sobbing and there was no other explainable option. She done the same last night too. She is literally inconsolable

Hope everyone is looking forward to Crimbo. Going to be so nice this year with our DD/DS's knowing more about what is going on and being able to open their own pressies.

Hello!

Sounds horrid, poor E and poor you too.
I have heard the theory that if they happen at the same time every night, set your alarm for half an hr before, then rouse her gently. Maybe just roll her over, give/take her dummy, not to fuuly wake her, but to wake her a bit. Then she should go back to sleep, and sleep through.

If it isn't the same time, then I have no idea!!

We still have little sleep! Both girls were poorly over the weekend, plus the stepkids were here, so Sat night was ghastly! Think we were woken about one thousand times!

Evie unwrapped 2 presents from under the tree on sat so they have all gone back upstairs!

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 19/12/2005 12:18

Abbie's presents not even making an appearance until the big day, she would be eating the wrapping paper in 2 seconds flat. She has a serious paper eating fetish right now. She has also taken to erm getting me the loo paper when I'm doing the loo (which is every 10 minutes right now) and she wants to "wipe" too .

Her sleeping is great right now straight through although I'm up at least twice for the loo in the night and always go in and rearrange her quilt for her.

Cannot believe she is going to be a big sister in a few weeks! Just hope she can sleep through the baby crying.

littledonkeyrach · 19/12/2005 12:59

She will look huge when you first see her after baby is born!

I remember DD1 coming to see DD2 and I, and I thought she had grown in the 5 hrs since I saw her!!

Hace to confess that at the mo, I have lost all feelings of broodiness. 3 of my friends are pg again, that'll do for me now!

kirra · 22/12/2005 09:11

Calmriver · 29/12/2005 21:56

HI All, Battling to get DD to stay asleep when she is put down. She cries and then wakes herself up..by the time I get into her room, she is standing in her cot looking at me when I entedr the door.
Does anyone else have this problem?

sweetkitty · 10/01/2006 13:04

hi all hi kirra I know who you are now

welcome to mumsnet calmriver word of warning it's seriously addictive!

Abbie is great at sleeping now she didn't go into a cot in her own room until she was 15 mo (long story) we did a sort of sleep training with her, if she wakes we go in settle her back down then leave the room, she never cries for more than 5 mins. Now when you go in she settles herself back down (in her favourite sleeping position on her front, bum in the air legs crossed) we put her quilt back on her pat her back and leave. I think you have to make them realise theirs no point in standing up making a racket etc they are not going to be picked up.

Still no sign of DD2 4 days to official due date am getting mega fed up now and want to see my baby soon! Abbie was 15 days early so not used to this waiting game.

kirra · 11/01/2006 12:15

Hi sarah!
Ah hun, hope it happens soon, waiting for baby is no fun. Thats good about Abbie, wish Jacob would sleep so well. He's been abit unsettled at night, but normally sleeps 7-7 so i cant complain and down to 1 bottle b4 bed.
Good luck with the baby!!
Take care
Kirsty

Eshay · 11/01/2006 15:41

I had no idea there was a new thread. I'm glad to see there's some people still talking here.
Thomas' night time wakings have passed again so that's a huge relief. He's now doing 14 hours straight if you let him so that's quite the opposite!

Not long here until number 2 arrives either. I'm due next Friday but I don't think anything will happen until after, as that is how it was for my first.

Welcome Calmriver and Kirra!

MrsEvs · 12/01/2006 04:54

How exciting that the new babies are almost here - do keep us updated sweetkitty and eshay.

Phoebe was a great sleeper to begin with but now wakes at least once and often twice a night, so we've gone in totally the wrong direction! Oh well, perhaps it's getting me in training for number 2 who's 12 weeks away now.

Eshay · 12/01/2006 11:18

MRS Evs, 12 weeks is not long! How exciting! Hope you are doing well!

MrsEvs · 13/01/2006 05:49

Yep, all well so far thanks Eshay, although am starting to feel a bit big and uncomfy now especially chasing round the ball of energy that is Phoebe!

I'll be on the look out for birth anouncements..

Eshay · 13/01/2006 21:43

MRS Evs - Yes, it can be very tough being pg and caring for a toddler. I am so happy Thomas goes to nursery 4 days a week. I found the second pregnancy much more tiring than the first time around but I've also found that now, towards the end of it, I feel much fitter physically than I did with Thomas. I suppose having the little one simply forces you to crawl around, play football and be physical in all sorts of ways. Last time I just sat on the sofa feeling huge

MrsEvs · 15/01/2006 04:34

I think you're right the little one just forces you to keep going. DH has been away for work for 5 days mind you and I'm well ready for a rest. he's back tomorrow thank God!

kirra · 24/01/2006 08:10

hi ladies, im back. how are we all, aw poor sarah, hope the baby arrives very soon. what th mw say today?
arg kids js has me up every morning at 5am.

MrsEvs · 01/02/2006 14:26

Has anyone got the little ones in their own bed yet as oppose to the cot? I had my heart set on this junior bed from Ikea for Phoebe but they are out of stock for the forseeable future!

So now have to decide between a toddler bed which just takes a cot mattress which I think she'll grow out of soon, or a proper single bed which just seems too grown up. Any ideas?? Phoebe more or less threw herself out of her cot the other day by getting her tummy up on the edge and somersaulting over - hence the rush!!!!

Eshay · 02/02/2006 11:43

omg, i don't think thomas realises there's a way out of the cot just yet. ucky me! he is in his cot bed and is quite happy there so i'm afraid i don't have any tips. maybe if a proper bed seems too big you could make it only halfway - feet to foot sort of arrangement - an fill up the head end with dolls and cuddlies. she'll be much bigger within a year.

KateF · 13/02/2006 08:54

Hello, can I join the club? I have alittle bundle of fun called Philippa, born July 28th 04, and two older dds aged 6 and 4 and a half. None of my RL friends have toddlers so it would be lovely to chat.

sweetkitty · 13/02/2006 21:24

hi KateF welcome to mumsnet

Well Abbie adores being a big sister, she holds Talia's hand in the double buggy when we are out, she gets upset if Talia cries and tries and helps to change her. Lovely to watch.

She's started getting an attitude though, hates being told No goes off on a tantrum, heading for the terrible twos already I think. Still not many words though.

No I'm not even thinking about a proper bed yet keep her in her cot as long as possible.

KateF · 13/02/2006 22:43

Sweetkitty-thanks for the welcome. Your two sound gorgeous. I had 19 months between my first two and the eldest was so protective of "my baby"-it was lovely.
We took the side off Pip's cot-bed today but she still hates it and is in our bed again . She was climbing over the side so I stopped putting her in it but now I think we have a problem.

Sponge · 14/02/2006 16:27

Congrats on Talia SK. It's so cute when they play together isn't it.
I'm leaving Harry in his cot until he's at least 2. With dd we bought her a bed for her 2nd birthday but I think it was probably a bit early as she kept getting out and coming up to us (and still does quite often aged 5.5).
Harry is perfectly happy in his cot so I'm not rocking the boat unless and until he starts climbing out.
He's chatting all the time now but not much of it makes sense yet. His words are mostly animals - Giraffe is his favourite!
Nasty moment last week when he fell over and caught his forehead on the brass corner of our coffee table - big cut, lots of blood. I'd stopped worrying about it now that he can walk pretty well but he does still fall about quite a lot when he's tired.
Still, no lasting harm done and he recovered quicker than we did.

Esmummy · 19/04/2006 16:24

Hi, thought i would bump this as not been posted on for a while. Have found out recently we are expecting no. 2 in November which was a surpised but lovely.
How is everyone getting on, SK how are things going with 2? Remember there being a few others that were pregnant from this original thread.

sweetkitty · 20/04/2006 13:26

Just spotted this so thought I would have a quick catch up.

Esmummy - many congratulations on expecting number 2 Smile

Life with 2 is fab hard work but fab! cannot believe my big baby is 21 months now and my little baby 3 months already!

Abbie is such a little madam these days, words are coming thick and fast now seems she has a new one every day. "Beebies ee vee" her fav today (mummy can you please turn the channel over so I can watch cbeebies?) she calls Talia Tee-Tee and adores her and tries to play with her, Talia is often covered in mega blocks/toy animals etcshe will put T's dummy back in her mouth if she cries too.

Last night she was naked for her bath she wee'd said "oh no pee pee" and got a wipe and tried to clear it up DP and I were in stitches, start if potty training perhaps. I am leaving that little joy until much later far too much stress with a baby to contend with too, plan is to wait until 2 1/2 at least then it should be quicker well thats the theory.

better go they'll be one of them wakening up anytime soon

littlerach · 20/04/2006 13:31

Wow, aren't our little ones so grown up?!!

SK, DD2 does that too, and sits on the potty for ages, then jumps off, and whooosh! Wee all over the floor!

We have had my nephew to stay with the rest of DH's family, and he is 2 next month and already potty trained. So I felt like such a slow coach, as there's no way I'm doing DD2 until at least the summer!

Dd2 calls DD1 Minnie (Millie) and they are very sweet, though they fight quite a lot too. They were really nice over the hols, as evie can really play with Millie now, and they get their dolls out and do tea and things.

Now, whether to have a third....!
