Hope this is ok? Thought it was subtle enough for the wider MN and not offensive!!

Trudy I would just flip all my hair over comb it forward and tie it up then slide the hairband down the hair to around how much you want to cut off iyswim? Gosh please don't follow my instruction though as experienced!!! I haven't done it for ages! I was looking for a youtube vid for it and I found this thing - have you seen it? Though looks like its an American product - anyway same idea really!

Beans33 · 17/06/2011 15:38

Oh Trudy - that sounds vile. Your poor DS. DD2 not that bad. In fact, she was woken up in quite a perky mood, which is brilliant. They two of them are playing happily together, which is great. Both of them refusing to eat, but I can't blame them!

OP posts:
DeidreBarlow · 17/06/2011 15:56

Ohtrudy that sounds awful, your poor DS. But beans I second the ice lollies, mine love them anyway, but great for getting a little fluid in them.

Rubena · 17/06/2011 16:26

Trudy - missed your post re ds - how awful sounding Sad A lot of times I am guilty of not properly reading parts of posts if they are addressed to someone else specifically.
I'm def going to cut down my posts though, as I am so self centred at times and feel guilty later when I read back my rambles - plus ds talks a lot now and says 'no puter mummy don't touch it, don't touch it, you nearly finished working' Sad

TrudyVotion · 17/06/2011 17:34

Rubes I feel guilty about the same thing, esp as I'm often trying to snatch a look at work stuff while M's busy. I have to re-educate myself that it's counter-productive, but sometimes, dreadful though it is to say, work things are more interesting than toddler things. Sometimes.

M was quite ill at the time in a just-a-tummy-bug way, but it was horrible. I kept thinking how lucky we were that the doc was just down the road and very willing to see us and that though unpleasant, we didn't have any concerns that he was going to be carried off by it. Very lucky to live in modern times in the developed world, from that POV anyway.

That clip thing looks amazing, albeit that they all have very sleek, straightened hair. I think my hair's not quite long enough yet for me to risk doing that, but it grows fast so might give it a go in the winter. It's okay Rubes, I won't hold you responsible if it all goes disastrously wrong!

Right, DH will be back from the skid run in 15m or so, must get backside in gear with supper. Oh Effie we always thought my g-g'mother's 'proper' name was Euphemia but not so sure now, she may just have been Effie. I'm not sure I could have saddled DD with Euphemia, but Effie is lovely. A friend at playgroup brought along her one week old DD this morning - Zoe. I think that's a gorgeous name, one we considered for DD and it would have suited her. Funny/weird to think I could have had Zoe and Jamie instead of Polly and Max!

Beans33 · 17/06/2011 18:54

Gads! Had total panic as DD2 did another monster vom having perked up enough to have an Ella's Kitchen fruit pouch. Bumholes. Then she broke out in a red rash all over her body. Rang NHS Direct and they told me it was probably the toxins leaving her body. Phew. Terror! It wasn't going as I rolled glass over it. But apparently you're not meant to roll the glass, just press and it went then.

Rubes, I agree I am guilty of same selfishness in posting. Apologies xx

Aah yes but Trudy at least you are actually working. My 'working' is either eBay, MN or FB as I'm still on Maternity Leave Blush but to be fair I've sold £300 worth on eBay this month Grin

Not sure whether to have Chinese tonight. Got a pot of Cabbage soup on at the mo (that make sense Hmm) but Vag I really want to try the no MSG / allergic thing but scared of pain tomorrow however the only time to experiment is when dh is home so really has to be tonight as can't be sick on Fathers Day!

Beans I hope dd improves soon. True about the blanching rash thing. DH always checks for that. DS got a horrid one once when he really only had a cold but apparently viral rashes can pop up with anything.

Kiddies still up waiting for dh who is enroute. Will be soaked tonight. Crap weather. DD napped 4-6pm - tonight should go well Hmm although tbh ds sleeps better after he's had a late nap which is odd but true.

Rubena · 17/06/2011 19:37

Oh and I've started ordering from Abel and Cole. Just got a few things to try them out as I think if I get better quality Organic produce we may not get Take Aways or eat out quite as much. I added up what we spent in May on such. £360!!! Shock disgraceful - it's mainly instigated by dh - nice is that a reflection of my cooking I wonder Hmm

spotofcheerfulness · 17/06/2011 20:00

Rubes what kind of stuff are you ebaying? When you sell DCs clothes, do you sell individual items or bags? I keep meaning to do stuff like that but am not sure of the etiquette.

I hurt all over, I fell downstairs with B in my arms this evening and have got bruised upper body, partic elbow. Thank goodness for instincts though, he seems unharmed.

Forgot to add to my earlier post - many thanks for your kind thoughts re-the anniversary of my dad's death. He was a complicated man and we had a tough time in my childhood (and his death was self-inflicted) but I would still have loved him to meet the boys. He might have been a pretty poor dad, but I think might have made up for it as a grandfather. Who knows.

Beans33 · 17/06/2011 20:03

Come Dine With Me. Heaven.

DH tucked up in bed feeling knackered. I think we're made of sterner stuff, us girls. He has OD'd on sport, work, late nights and was up with DD1 and me last night clearing up sick. I am on my knees, but am a trooper. A wonder of modern science. Robo-Beans they call me.

Beans33 · 17/06/2011 20:04

Spot. Cross-posted. You poor lamb. Arnica.

Beans33 · 17/06/2011 20:08

Posted by mistake.
Sorry you had complicated relationship with your Dad. It must be sad and frustrating not to have him there for boys.

I have discovered a sick brooch on my shoulder. Nice.

OP posts:
TrudyVotion · 17/06/2011 20:13

Oh spot, that all sounds quite a lot to handle but how lovely that you can give him the benefit of the doubt about being a grandfather. Glad B is okay after your tumble and you have no more than aches and pains. Agree re arnica, I use the cream and the tablets on the children, but of course not on me. Still can't kneel on my left leg after getting tangled in DD's hula hoop on our scalpings Angry

ZuleikaJambiere · 17/06/2011 20:22

Rubes and RoboBeans, you must not stop rambling, or anyone else for that matter. I love it. And it would be really dull if no one talked about themselves, all the posts would be 'how are you today Beans? And you Rubes?' and no one would answer. It Must Not Happen

Ouch Spot, that tumble sounds painful, but good on those instincts with B

Deids I think Beans' suggestion was the best, let DH do his own thing and you do yours

Trudy you have excellent taste in names, Zoe's inevitably turn out to be wonderful people Wink

More Friday night ironing and nail painting and present wrapping. This wedding malarky is getting rather tedious tbh. But it will be fun when we get there. I can't wait for a weekend at home next weekend though, with my girl and a catch up of the housework. I'm sure a dullard, but that's what will make me happy after all this gallivanting

Beans33 · 17/06/2011 20:27

ZJ - I am quite envious of all your weekends off. Mine looks like it's going down the pan. Not happy to leave sickly family. Arse and bugger.
Will have a nectarine with Greek yoghurt and honey for pudding as a treat.

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 17/06/2011 21:24

Oh poo, Beans, sorry your w/e looks off.

This is a super quickie as DP is putting supper out. DB, I would deffo take the kids but I have a mediterranean attitude to late nights. I have no problem with them now and then, I just don't see the harm, especially for a treat likie a wedding! As for the stuff from DH's colleague - you have made your point to her, so no moral problemo about flogging it.

Rubes, I really need lessons from you in how to be an Ebay Queen.

RIght, supper. Hopefully more later.

Rubena · 17/06/2011 21:48

Waiting for take away again Blush but safe Thai option.
Ouch Spot glad you are not hurt badly and B is ok. My non-holisticy self swears by Arnica pills! Hmm I haven't really had a lot of success selling clothes on eBay (well the odd bundle here and there but hardly worth the effort) I sometimes sell individual things if they are pricey stuff to begin with but it's a lot of hassle for not so much in return. This month I've sold the Bumbo and tray, and brand new play mat / sit up aid baby gym thing that dd HATED, A full size baby swing, a baby support thing, a cross trainer, a dress or two of dd's (that were expensive) and my beloved Dyson handheld that was only 6 months old but I want to get an irobot and although dh says just buy it, I just can't justify spending the money when I've just bought a vacuum recently. (I'm vacuum obsessed it would seem!) So actually it was more than that as I didn't factor in the Dyson.
Lady, the secret is, when you buy things originally, shop around forEVER to get a good deal. The Dyson I got for £119 new and sold for £130 after 6 months!! (Dyson sell it for £170 or something silly) I also keep all boxes and original packaging of everything I buy as it adds SO MUCH more to the price when you sell it and people don't seem to care as much that it's not new if it's in the original box! People also get into bidding wars, plus they don't do their research very well of what the thing is worth.
ZJ, but my rambling is boring (case in point above) I never have anything interesting to say like Beans does with Alfresco poo's and vomit Grin which i really chuckle over!
So, just wanted to answer those questions in my usual long drawn out fashion..... As you were ladies.....

SummerLightning · 17/06/2011 22:36

Not boring rubes very helpful. I keep lending out my baby stuff, might get round to selling some stuff originally when everyone I know in the world has finished having kids.
I think all your rambling is lovely group hug. Obviously Beans is out front for grossness but you win for slagging off midwives and natural birth Rubes.

db I love Beans suggestion for the wedding. DH and I ahve been to three weddings with the two of them and two of the three we stayed out till 11. Those 2 were when DD was tiny and DS slept in pushchair and DD in sling. For the second of the two plan was for DH to go home with both and me to stay out, but DS went to sleep in pushchair and DH got hideously drunk instead (and quite annoying) and then we had to drive back from Scotland the next day! The third wedding we got a babysitter...which was hideiously expensive (sitters.co.uk did not cover the area as they are quite reasonable) but quite civilised. Sorry that was a bit boring not sure why i related all that.

spot sorry about tumble, bizarrely I did similar today, tripped out of front door with DD fortunately she was in car seat but the car seat rolled over and she screamed...ok though, and my knee is really quite bruised, but ok.

effie you have reminded me of something I was going to ask but you will have to bear with me....

Have any of you done geocaching? It is this thing where you try and find little boxes that are hidden all round the place by GPS coordinates, some of them are straight forward and just have the coordinates and some of them have a puzzle that you have to solve to get the coords. I tried to find one with jj but my phone was playing up and the GPS wasn't working very well so we failed even though it was an easy one. But ANYWAY, it is quite good fun with kids as the little boxes have "treasure" in them that you can swap, plus a log book to sign and DS loves it. Anyway the reason effie reminded me is that I've been trying to solve this for ages, which is a puzzle cache with a vague maltese falcon theme. I don't know the maltese falcon so is there anything that jumps out thats related to that....if not it's probably a deciphering job that I haven't solved yet, but I will dammit. By the way this geocaching is very geeky in case you hadn't guessed Grin

beans this bug sounds really nasty. Very sorry you are not getting to go away for the weekend but I probably wouldn't want to either. Is DD1 ok apart from last night?

LadyThompson · 18/06/2011 00:39

Am back, between boxes! Won't have broadband at the house for hucking AEONS. ANyway, meant to say to Spot that is so horrid that you fell over, thank heavens neither of you were harmed. Just to sound like a granny for a moment, it's always such a vile shock when one falls over. As to the pre-school, it is actually right on top of the new house so it won't be two buses as of next week, but a two minute walk. Going to send her 1-2 mornings a week from Sept, then five mornings a week from Jan (sob! I will really miss her, actually). Actually, she might do a few sessions before term ends (it's just a term time thing). I liked the place. They only have 11 kids (12 with DD1) and three teachers/carers/wotever you call 'em. That seemed good but perhaps it's typical. It had a good vibe. When I got there, the big gate was padlocked and a very polite girl of about three peered through and said "Hello, may I help?" Grin I was really tickled. She then ran off to get the head teachery/carery person.

You see, Rubes, you might think your Ebay tips are basic but they aren't to me. I would never have thought to keep packaging, for example. I will now! I have asked this before but in a nutshell, what are examples of good things to sell and what are bad? Your DD has amazingly long eyelashes, the lucky girl. I meant to say the other day.

SL, I will try to look at your thing when I have more time. I like puzzles and riddles and things like that.

ZJ, I feel like you have been to about 6 weddings in the last month. I am old so weddings amongst my peers are few and far between Grin (And are often second/third/fourth/fifth ones). Have fun, though. I will thinking of you at about 10.30pm tomorrow night, whilst I am probably still humping boxes, as you arerobably dancing to the Time Warp segueing into the Grease Megamix.

Mmm, better go to bed.

TrudyVotion · 18/06/2011 06:36

Brilliant Lady! I need to come up with some suggns for dancing songs for a party a friend's having, and my mind went blank, but The Time Warp must be on the list! I'd better bone up on the thing so I'm flinging my limbs around in the right order. That nursery sounds lovely, and wonderful it's so close. Since we moved in Dec DS' nursery is just a five minute drive away, was previously 25m, so we get much more out of the time.

Ill babes the order of the day. I managed to look in DS' mouth earlier and he has little red spots on the roof of his mouth and down his throat Sad Is that just general sore throat or something else? Ignorant, me. Well, nothing's stopping us meeting up with my uncle and co today (famous last words), it will be a Calpol-tastic day I think. He woke just the once last night and I gave him Calpol, then I lay awake for TWO HOURS - how annoying is that? Looks like I get the prize for first post of the day, no surprise there then.

I used to eBay a fair bit but I rarely bother these days unless I have something particularly valuable to sell. It's so much faff, and once you've factored in fees and getting the postage wrong (I guess and often fall short of what it really costs) it's not worth it unless you're going to clear £5 I think. We give away loads to the charity shops and Freecycle/Freegle a fair bit too, but then you get into waiting ages for people to collect things or mucking about with arrangements - I seem to attract those people!

Right, porridge should now be approachable without losing the lining of my mouth. Hope all weddings/weekends away etc go well and ill DC perk up. After I've eaten my bfast I begin the long task of pulling together all the things we're going to need for long car journeys, wee breaks, hungry thirsty DC etc.

Beans33 · 18/06/2011 08:12

I wouldn't even know where to begin on Ebay - I'm crap!

Trudy - I hope your DS is ok - I have no idea what those symptons are. My DD2 was up 10 times last night, which was hell. BUT she has woken up and had her milk, then a bowl of cheerios, a little bit of toast and is now tucking into DD1's dry cheerios. She seems very happy. Oh joy! DH is still asleep. Clearly not 100%. Poor chap. I am hopeful of going to see my parents today if he wakes up well... Fingers crossed. I need some sleep tonight!

Woohoo we got some Olympics tickets thought we hadn't but turns out we had.

SL we done a geocaching here its great fun.

Spot & SL sorry about the falls, please look after yourselves.

I don't think anyone waffles, if you were chatting to us at a cafe in RL would you think you were waffling.

Sorry I gotta go

Rubena · 18/06/2011 13:10

That's just it Vag, I would. Up 5 times with dd - poor girl's teeth. Was ok at swimming - but she loves it. Nursery sounds fab Lady.
I'm abandoning our party in Bedford this afternoon on account of zero sleep all round & crap weather. Thanks Summer Grin and that there ladies, is precisely why I need to rein it in and cut back.

DeidreBarlow · 18/06/2011 15:46

Hello,

Lady Hope that all is going well, and you are getting sorted.

trudy I agreeif its not going for a fiver on Ebay not really worth it. I sold all DS's Grobags recently and got around a tenner for each of them. So worth while. Clothes defo sell as a bundle for me, as you can at least put them on for more than 99p.

vag Excellent newson the olympic tickets, do you know what event you will be watching yet?

Well DH came home from work now, all apologetic for being an arse about the wedding and reckons DC's will be fine and we'll have a grand ol' day catching up with my sister and the rest of my familyConfused. Odds on he changes his mind at least 3 times before next weekend!

I went for a mamouth 5 mile run this morning. the most I have ever done, so quite chuffed. Hadn't intended to go that far but ran through a park only to discover the gate I intended to exit through was still locked (it was 7.45am) so i had to double back on myself! Little miffed that I didn't run a bit more and get to the 10K mark I have set myself. But I was knacked, as I ran it all without any little walking breaks. Think that earns me a take-away treat tonightGrin
