Hope this is ok? Thought it was subtle enough for the wider MN and not offensive!!

Map of Tassie Grin only ever hear my db call it that! Razor ZJ?
Cromer, major sleep dep here. Teething nightmare last night. So tired I actually got ready for swimming and put makeup on! For swimming!
Vag those tummy cramps, I had them again after Icecream with ice magic! Then Thai last night and nothing. I wonder if it's high fat foods and some kind of gastritis or ulcer. Dunno but when it happens is crippling.

Rubena · 11/06/2011 15:01

Cromer? No idea. Cromer I reckon

Rubena · 11/06/2011 15:02

Cromer again? Bloody iPad CRIKEY.

HRHvagolaJahooli · 11/06/2011 17:15

Mmmmm ice magic. It might be that Rubes or irritable bowel, a friend here just got diagnosed with that. Is often up all night in pain with it. It is worse if she drinks a lot of alcohol.

Well I treated DS1 & my hair. Did the fine tooth comb afterwards and got one deceased louse and a load of eggs. I've only ever seen the one in his hair so am assuming that all he had. I'm going to buy some lice prevention shampoo for them both. Their hair is so thick so they pick it up easily. I will re treat in about 10 days and hope that sorts them out. I think I got most of the eggs out though.

I'm from the western suburbs of Sydney Rubes so I heard 'map of Tassie' a lot, as in "sho' uzya mappa Tassie".

DH and I are going out tonight, just to a restaurant across the canal from us, we can actually see it from our front door, but it looks really nice. So if DS2 wakes I can pop back to settle him easily. Generally he is fine but I only let him have a short nap today and while that makes it easier to get him to sleep at bedtime it sometimes means he wakes around 10pm with a bad dream. He only ever needs a gentle pat or little cuddle back to sleep but he won't be happy if its the babysitter doing it.

Right need to start the bathing so we can actually get out tonight.

HRHvagolaJahooli · 11/06/2011 18:49

Of course the babysitter is here and both boys have gone ape shit! DS2 will not let the sitter put him to sleep but he knows she is here because he can hear DS1 playing with her. Aaargh I want my house red!

Rubena · 11/06/2011 19:03

Have fun tonight Vag. yeah, know 'sho us your map o Tassie' in the exact same way - classy aren't we Grin head Lice is a constant thing with my nieces and nephew - bloody tropics. I always feel like I must have it after they visit Hmm
I have tried cold turkey with alcohol and I still got the pain after certain foods - Chinese especially. I spoke to the Chinese takeaway that pride themselves on healthy Chinese and apparently it's "low MSG" not "no MSG" - yeah really healthy. Anyway, could be that, but that still doesn't explain it happening after certain other foods Hmm DH reckons it's not alcohol as if I have wine during the week I usually sit on 1 glass all night. I've Googled it to death and it seems so many people have similar stomach complaints that it could be anything. All I know is it's relatively new, which made dh mention adhesions after CS but then he followed up with saying it's unlikely given my symptoms Confused
Next time it happens I think I'll head to the GP.

HRHvagolaJahooli · 11/06/2011 19:12

My sil had adhesions after her first CS Rubes and it was very painful but not after eating specifically. Also she had had other abdominal surgery. Yours does sound digestive. I only mentioned the wine because that's what affected my friend, strangely beer doesn't cause her any trouble. DH sometimes gets digestive slow down when he has the wrong combination of foods. For example he can eat potatoes no problem, and drink beer and eat wheat based foods like breads or pasta, but if he eat a meal with potato pasta or bread and drinks a beer his gut slows down to an almost stand still.

Still trying to settle this monkey.

HRHvagolaJahooli · 11/06/2011 19:24

I just realised I said alcohol affected my friend its actually specifically wine.

Rubena · 11/06/2011 19:54

Vag, I started thinking maybe it was carbs as I was eating a lot recently, but then I thought, no, because I have never cut out carbs for breakfast, only ever at dinner or sometimes lunch and dinner, but rarely.
DH reckons like you, that it's digestive, and it could be a combination of things, or I've developed a sensitivity to certain high fat foods recently. White eine has always affected me a little, but not with these pains - that is more a heartburn type thing, wheras this is crippling cramps and the odd shooting pain. It has me buckled over and sometimes in tears when I have an attack that is bad. Do you know if MSG is in any other foods than Chinese? i'm totally fine with a curry or Thai Hmm
Hope the boys settled down [cheekies]
It's my youngest nieces b'day today. Cannot believe she is now 5. I was there the day she was born and it seems like yesterday!
DS was looking at one of our wedding photo's today, and he said "That's Mummy and Daddy on a bridge, I like your dress Mummy" awwwwwwwww (we had photo's done on a bridge in Japanese garden over a huge Koi Pond where we got married) Cannot believe how worried I was about him talking!

Rubena · 11/06/2011 19:56

Crikey - she's 6 not 5 I've just realised!

DeidreBarlow · 11/06/2011 20:29

Rubes I once watched a documentary on msg....its in loads of stuff iirc. Biscuits, cakes can't remember what else. Sounds horrid mind.

Beans33 · 11/06/2011 22:35

Busy bees today. Only v quick, entirely selfish post today. Went for 5k run with DH AND girls in buggies today. V good and got 35mins. But my ankle now v sore. Grrrr.
I've also found a lump in my armpit, which worries me a bit. Probably a blocked cyst or something. It'll probably go on own but if it hasnt by Monday will go to GP. DD2 also did a poo that clearly hurt and had bleeding bottom. Déjà vu of DD1. Also warrants a visit to GP. Busy busy!
On back of run before sore ankle, I signed up for 5 and 10k runs in July. Tit. But I am quite pleased to have a challenge.

urbanewarrior · 11/06/2011 23:30

rubes dh suffers from something that sounds similar - really really painful and no completely obvious cause. he has some fairly Hmm advice from a couple of drs and some pills that helped the cramping, but has just this last week seen our good GP who has got him tested for all manner of things. She says they'll rule loads of stuff out and then if they can't decide what it is it's probably irritable bowel - but that is such a catch all can mean loads of different things to different people.

sorry quick one as am knackered.

ZuleikaJambiere · 12/06/2011 00:55

Map of Tasmania Grin, love it Vaj! I'm a natural brunette, but had remembered my spanx, so the bottom half wasn't my concern, rather my small but slightly saggy boobies. Fortunately I found a tesco, and their £5 bras aren't half bad. My sis's boyfriend needed a hammer, so we were on our way to b&q anyway (the mother of the groom texted my sis this week to ask her to bring a hammer, which obviously all well prepared wedding guests have with them Hmm. It was never used, so we think it was all part of a plan to make him-all 6ft5 with hands the size of elephants feet-look even more rough and northern in order to scare all the city boy banker wusses who were there).

We were on a table with the grooms cousins, who were aged between 21 and 12. A lot of fun, they have a wicked sense of humour, but the 12 year old just made me feel maternal and horrified that in just 10 years my own DD will be wearing glam frocks and telling rude jokes. When will they invent a pill to stop children growing up? Sad

I used to love having my hair combed and used to pretend lice was doing the rounds at school at least once a week. I even told mum that it was in halls of residence one holiday I was home from uni, just to get combed Grin. Bet she loved me!

Get you in teenagers jeans, Trudy

Have you tried keeping a food diary Rubes? Those pains sound awful

Well done on the running, esp with the pushchair Beans. Definitely get the lump checked, although probably nothing. Have you been run down recently? I found one once and the dr said it was just a lymph node or something (are they in your pits or have I got confused with another gland?) and in response to my body being low. As soon as I got my energy back, the lump went. A good excuse for you to avoid the night shift for a day or two

There is an awful, ugly, buzzy fly in my room. I am not happy, it is noisy and doesn't want to let me sleep

TrudyVotion · 12/06/2011 07:24

Rubes I get something like this, but I know my digestion is a bit sensitive so have never tried to solve it as I tend to assume these things are impossible to pin down. When I get it I can barely move, I have to stay as still and straight as possible, which is a nightmare if I'm somewhere where I have no choice but to keep going. I imagine it as having a poker vertically through my middle and if I stay completely straight it's bearable, but as soon as I twist or lean I get stabbing pains, which sometimes extent into my shoulder blades. Once I get it I'm stuck with it for the day, but am usually better after a night's sleep. I put that down to my body relaxing when I'm asleep and the spasm letting up. Also I find a good parp helps Blush but doesn't cure it. Caffeine is bad news, I've had a really bad time lately with coffee - either it gives me that terrible pain or makes me feel queasy and dizzy.

Beans chances are it's a lymph node. When I was younger (teens/20s) I had terrible problems with eczema (I sound a total wreck lol!) and I used to get a very itchy back and would of course end up with nicks and sore patches from scratching it. I'd get what I called 'tennis ball arm pit' every so often, which the doc said was due to my lymph nodes working so hard to deal with the sore skin on my back. I'm sure that's a terribly unmedical and naff description, but it made sense to me. Fortunately in my 30s I've learnt what sparks my skin off, and I'm sure it's all bound up with my digestion too. I've had a candida overgrowth, which can cause skin and stomach problems, and eating too much sugar or refined carbs tends to make it flare up. Candidiasis can be controversial - some doctors totally accept it as a problem, others are very dubious about it. I don't really care what it's called or how it behaves, I'm just happy that crappy skin isn't nearly as much of a problem as it used to be.

ZJ the wedding sounds great fun. No reception is complete without a hammer-wielding giant.

HRHvagolaJahooli · 12/06/2011 21:39

Oh man again with the drunkness. Went to a friends house for a Saturday afternoon bbq with a couple of other friends and their DHs & kids. The host DH is Vietnamese and made a delicious Vietnamese ice tea mixed with vodka and it was delicious but I drank way too much.

LadyThompson · 12/06/2011 21:45

Hello pals

Am a bit behind but will try to do quick catch up. Cricket was rained off today so ended up at the house with the girls whilst DP stayed home and did work. Hmm. Not been a vintage weekend. Watched 'Coco Before Chanel' last night, thought it was a bit boring...and feel like I have eaten/drunk more than I should.

Vag, have been chuckling at map of Tasmania. There's a new Chris Lilley show on the Beeb now, 'Angry Boys'. I haven't forgotten I've got your cd of that other series he did before Summer Heights High. We watched it but didn't like it quite as much (but thank you). A repeat of 'Gavin & Stacey' has just been on and they played Angry Anderson's 'Suddenly' and DP said "What IS this song?" and I am afraid I knew it was the one played at Scott & Charlene's wedding. Aww. How I loved Neighbours in those days...(That all sounds like a stream of consciousness about otherwise unrelated Antipodean items Grin sorry. And 'had too much Pimms'? No such thing! (Actually that is not true: I had too much on Royal Wedding Eve).

Anyway, talking of weddings, your photos sound nice, Rubes. I like wedding photos. Re: funny symptoms, have you thought of trying probiotics? Maybe your intestinal flora and fauna have gone a bit wonky. Though your DH might think they are a bit duff, as I hear the medical profession are divided about their usefulness. I have just started taking them actually, as I read they are good for sufferers fo PCOS, because they speed up 'digestive transit', as they call it on the adverts, so hormones which you are excreting whoosh through more effectively rather than hanging around and having the chance to be reabsorbed by your body and then throwing things out of whack. But in your case, as I said, maybe they might settle things down.

Where did you go in Brum, Trudy? I was born fairly near there and like the centre, it gets a bad rap!

ZJ, I totally share your love of having your hair brushed/stroked/combed. It is my best thing. Is it terrible that I have now trained DD1 to do it? Grin

Beans, it does just sound like a node but get it checked if it doesn't go down. Well done on your run! I haven't even been taking my long walks recently (or doing any clandestine bouncing on my mini trampoline) as have been too busy, which is just rubbish really.

Oh yeah, DB - what was your fancy nancy sports bra? I could do with a good recommendation for one.

Ooh, must dash, supper is ready (and I wonder why I can't lose weight...we eat so flamin' late).

JamInMyWellies · 12/06/2011 22:44

Oooh just checking out the new mumsnet iPhone app. Grin I like.

Will be back tom am failing miserably in keeping up.

Beans33 · 13/06/2011 08:45

Morning all! Lady - nor was ours a vintage weekend, although it was very nice. Swimming yesterday and playdoh. DD2 just ate it. Am expecting a green streaked poo at some point today. From her, not me. I quite like quiet weekends with nothing on. Rather enjoyed hanging with DH and the little birds. DD2 has now discovered she can climb the stairs to the top, which is a bit of a disaster. Nice open plan downstairs now has doors shut to prevent it as we're too tight to buy another stairgate for downstairs!!! Once she masters coming down backwards, then it'll be easier. Will spend tomorrow (while DD1 at nursery) trying to teach her!

DH has just told me to enjoy my lazy day. As he swanned off to work and going out for lunch with colleagues. Grrrr. So, in repayment, I've told him I'd really like to go away this weekend and stay with my parents, without the girls. Actually, I would really like to anyway, but it's about time he actually knew what it's like to look after them. And I don't think I'll bother to stock up the fridge for him before I go. If they're around, I'll head down on Friday night and come back Sunday afternoon. I know I'll miss the girls like crazy, but I would love a break, plus DH does actually want to spend some time with them. Is that terrible??! I don't think so.

Uhoh. DD1 having blackcurrant jam on white sofa. She's ok, but DD2 has joined in and it is now everywhere. I'd better to and clear up. Bugger. DD2 is hard work, I tell you. Lovely, but hard work!!!

PS Forgot to say, went for a 5k run en famille on Saturday morning. The DDs loved it, and surprisingly, so did I! I managed 35 mins, which I was v proud of. But whilst high on endophins, I signed up to do a 10k run at the end of July and a 5k run at the beginning of July. I am a nit. Aiming to get under 30mins in the 5k run and am aiming to get round the 10k run full stop. But 10k is Race for Life, so doing it for my Dad to celebrate his recovery. Although he has now found a lump on his foot, which he is off to get biopsied today. He doesn't think it's anything though. Fingers crossed.

Lump in my armpit is still there - will try to get doctor appointment in next couple of days.

Your DH is effing cheeky isn't he Beans? Does he really think it's chilled and lazy at home with 2 kids? I think my DH is a bit jealous as he'd like to do it from time to time, but also sympathetic as he can see that is drives me mad sometimes.

I think you should definitely go to your parents without the girls. I would love to do that...ahhhh...no free weekends for a bit though. Would your DH get your in laws round to help though?

My DD has also learnt to climb stairs though she's only got a couple up so far, gotta keep my eye on her as she is in no way competent. I am actually finding this phase very very hard work with DD mobile too, I am feeling quite fed up with it all. E.g. Bathtime DS will go on the potty, and DD will crawl over to it and try and upend it, I will stop her, DS will run off outside the bathroom laughing and refuse to come back, they both crawl all over me and pull my hair and I just want them to eff off sometimes. I am hoping I am a bit hormonal due to stopping breastfeeding as I am really really grumpy and pissed off! Can those of you with two close together please lie reassure me that it gets easier at some point after both are mobile?

rubes no not doing cabbage soup jobbie properly and it has worked a bit! I have lost 1kg already. Though could just be fluctuations. Sorry about the dodgy tummy stuff, don't have any good suggestions i'm afraid. How is DD's teething?

Hi lady! I was just thinking of you last night and thinking you haven't posted any pics of DD2 recently, any chance of some cheeky ones on FB?

You lot are putting me to shame with all your running. I need to do some exercise, that would probably cheer me up, have been v lazy recently. vag are you running again yet?

Right I am pushing it as the tinies are about to fight. DS doing rather a lot of screeching, whinging and tantrumming at the moment, it's very hard work.

Beans33 · 13/06/2011 09:47

He is a cheeky fecker, isn't he?! But he also whisked the girls off for an hour yesterday so I could get some rest, so can't complain too much. Whenever I say something bad about him, I must also say something good!

SL - I think it will get easier. I'm struggling a bit at the moment, but it goes in waves. I found the other day, I'd been really shouty and vile for a couple of days and was reaching the end of my tether, so the next morning, I woke up and resolved to be a lovely Mummy. In fact, I ended up having the most lovely day with them. DH was away and I had no one to meet up with and was on my own, and I loved it. We went to the swings and for a walk in the morning and all in all had a lovely lovely day. I made a real effort not to get angry and actually, we were all much nicer and happier as a result of it. I don't always do that, though, and find myself getting very vexed by it all. And have to count to ten to get a lid on my rage! But your bathtime sounds very like ours, which drives me insane. Plus DD2 will NOT sit down in the bath and ends up slipping over, despite our non-slip mat. The other day, she clonked her chin on the bath and dug her little bottom teeth into her top gum and bled everywhere. It was horrible, but it hasn't taught her any lesson about standing up in the bath!!!

I had 2 croissants for breakfast this morning. You see, I had to finish them up as they were going off.... EEEK!

Hello everyone! I haven't posted for agggges so I have probably missed a lot. Anyone care to precis the last month for me?

Just back from one week holiday at Kinderhotel in Austria. Toddler heaven. Rather relaxing for parents too. Am now nearly 22 weeks and have gender/anomoly scan on Wednesday.

In other news: have sold our house. Haven't yet found anywhere to buy. Will have to move anyway cos have had to give DD's nursery THREE MONTHS notice (Angry) and haven't even got a place for her yet at a new one. AGHHH!

EffiePerine · 13/06/2011 11:13

Summer and Beans: I find myself getting shouty as well, mainly when I'm trying to get stuff dine and they aren't cooperating. Have given up this mor ing and headed to soft play on a whim. Boys are happily pottering about and I'm faffing about on my phone and thinking of nothing - much needed! It's an unhealthy lunch for us then asda - may try baking this afternoon. Summer: it's so hard when you have one you have to hover over the whole time.
