suzi2 - Well done little man!! A good night's sleep in your house all round then (well better than normal anyway) fingers crossed for tonight.

My DS4 has just projectile vomited all over himself, his playmat and the floor, I have never seen so much milk and stomach acid in one go before!! It was 2 hours after his feed aswell. DS4 has had a really bad sicky day today he threw up all over himself and the floor in Gordon Scott today when I was trying to get DS1 new school shoes. It was so embarassing and what made it worse was I was talking to DS2s teacher at the time and her little boy looked horrified

Pookey - Looks like Ealing is best then, maybe one of the Starbucks or somewhere similar where we can have a coffee and some lunch (I like my food)

I do know Darren Butterfield, he was in my year at school. I think I had some lessons with him, actually he might have even been in my tutor group in year 8 (my memory is getting bad, I blame the kids)!!

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 27/11/2005 20:21

Poor DS4. Hope he is doing better really soon.

Pookey-- I live in Southern Oregon, USA. So you will probably never see me posting much before 3 pm your time, and I post up until 5 or 6 am your time. I can't really see her tooth all that well, but I can sure feel it if I put my finger in her mouth. I am actually kind of sad, because I love the toothless look in babies.

dazedandconfusedmum · 27/11/2005 20:30

Unfortunatley they think he has a problem with his intestines (hyetus hernia - wrong spelling) so he will always be throwing up everywhere It doesn't bother him though, he normally smiles after!! I just feed him with a towel on my lap and one on the floor, it's just a bit harder when I am out, I go with LOADS of bibs, cloths and baby wipes

I know what you mean about the toothless look, it is realy cute. I think they look funny when they have a couple of front teeth here and there

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 27/11/2005 21:05

My two babies If it works.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 27/11/2005 21:11

I guess you need a sign-in. The e-mail is notbucket24(at)yahoo(dot)com, and password is caitlin.

suzi2 · 27/11/2005 22:33

Aw - they're real cuties! I love that yellow dress.

D&CMum - when I was a baby they thought I may have a hiatus hernia. but then they decided it was just that my oesophageal sphincter wasn't closing properly and I basically grew out of it when I was a couple of years old. DS is a very sicky baby so has possibly inherited the same thing. I've found he's less sicky if I don't burp him - I simply sit him up until he burps after a feed.

Talking of teeth - I can't imagine DS with any! I think he'll look weird!

pookey · 27/11/2005 22:43

Awww they are both adorable C&CMommy, Colin looks as though he really looks after his little sis Wow there certainly isn't much hope of you meeting us in London any time soon! Why did you choose Mumsnet rather than a US website?

Shows how much I know about teething, i was imagining a little tooth must have errupted from nowhere like in the cartoons!

I think it would be fun if we all tried to post a piccie of our august babas in their crimbo outfits?

D&CMommy respect - you have got your hands full, it must be a real mare having to prepare feeding sessions for your DS. Haven't seen DB for a couple of years but he wanted to be a labour politician!

Azure would you mind coming to Ealing - promise we wont go on about did you know such and such at school?

kate100 · 28/11/2005 17:36

Hi all, what a lot of chatter to catch up on!

C&Cmommy, congratulations on the tooth

We've been away for the weekend to Broadway in the Cotswolds. We had such a lovely time, we stayed on a farm and got woken up by the chickens each morning. We've done lots of walking and ds1 loved the cows.

when we got home today it started to snow and now it's white over everywhere. We took the boys out in the snow and ds2 was not impressed, he got all wet when the snow melted on him.

DH has had a taste of my life today, he did the food shopping while I went dress shopping. He looked a bit harassed when we met up again and ds2 had slept the whole time, can't imagine waht ds1 must have been like then, oh well.

josey · 28/11/2005 18:43

hi everyone have just been trying to catch up have been away for the weekend, took DD to meet her great gran, and took her to the cemetery to see my dad, you probably think im a bit daft but feel better since i have done it, and it made my Gran very happy as photos just arent the same as getting a cuddle from the real thing.

photos of babies in xmas suites sounds cute, i keep meaning to try and work out how to post a photo on here and havent yet or have a clue where to start, and i used to be good on computers

Teeth wow congrats to caitlin - i dont remember having alot of trouble with DS and his teeth apart from he got red lumpy spots on his cheeks and the occasional sore bum. DD is having a good slever and chew at everything but dont think she will have teeth for a couple of months yet, my gran had a nice saying for it or so i thought, was "picking out your toothy pegs"

not looking forward to weaning, i dont think DD will last till the 6 months though she is already getting excited when she sees your plate and her mouth starts going i think if im not careful she will sneek something.

ps c&cmommy i cant see your pic there is something with my computer it switches off when try your link so not being rude but not saying your babies are cute if you know what i mean

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 28/11/2005 21:26

Josey-I wouldn't have thought anything if you didn't say anything about my kids. Not putting their pics up for compliments.

Pookey-I'm on here because I googled some parenting food issue thing for Colin a long time ago (we had just moved to the area, and I didn't know anyone to ask, and I didn't realize sites like these existed) and one of the things it brought up was MN. Everyone was really nice, and even though I've looked at other American sites, they are too slow, too boring, too weird or no sense of humor comparitively. Or mostly I'm just too lazy to find one.

So Caitlin was up 7 times last night. She won't sleep today, either. Not fun.

suzi2 · 28/11/2005 22:09

C&Cs mum. Poor you. Sounds like DS was last week! Have a glass of wine or something - you'll need it by the end of the day! Or lots of long walks in the pram to get her to sleep.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 28/11/2005 22:38

Thanks, suzi2. Now if I only liked wine, and it wasn't snowing outside, I'd be doing great.

moschops · 29/11/2005 11:11

have tried giving ds a bath this morning and ended up with a hysterically screaming child for 30 mins.

he is terrified of the bath, i've posted over in Parenting to ask for help as i've tried everything i can think of. it is becoming a problem as i can only strip wash ds and it's not ideal.

i just feel so bad when i see how scared he is, i really want him to grow up enjoying bath time.

josey · 29/11/2005 12:20

sorry c&cmommy didnt mean it to sound that way sorry caitlin isnt sleeping very well just now

moschops have you tried putting his feet up against the bath so he can feel something have heard that helps

dazedandconfusedmum · 29/11/2005 14:14

moschops, my DS3 HATED the bath so I just strip washed him until he was past 6 months and could sit and then put him in the bath in one of those baby seat things sitting up and he thought it was great!!

Nothing wrong with strip washing, it does the same job just less water!!!

suzi2 · 29/11/2005 17:07

DS isn't fab about the bath either - so we only bath him every couple of days and just give him a wash the other days. It's not like he really needs a bath yet anyway! Those bath seat things - what age can they go in them from? DS is too big for his baby bath now and keeping a hold of him in the big bath can be tricky!

We had another night of waking 8 times last night. Spoke to the HV today who said that becuase DSs eczema was bad, that might be waking him. Looks like we'll have to move onto a steroid cream which I'm trying to avoid (I've used them myself since 6 months old). I'm at my wits end. he's unsettled, biting his lip, chewing everything in sight, skin all broken out, cradle cap bad and grumpy. I really feel for him but I'm not sure what else I can do to help.

dazedandconfusedmum · 29/11/2005 17:56

They can use the bath seats from 6 onths (or when they can sit). If he is used to sitting in a supported chair then you could probably try him in one now and just hold him so he doesnt slip down (might hurt his "boy bits")!!

I can't believe you guys are getting such little sleep I REALLY feel for all of you with "non-sleeping babies". My DS2 suffers with ezcema and has to be bathed in Diprobath and has creams etc but I am lucky his never woke him up, my biggest problem was potty training because if he wet himself it really stung his legs and he used to cry ( a long way off for you yet but worth remembering).

Miaou · 29/11/2005 18:02

Another non-sleeper here, though not so bad as c&cmommy or suzi, but ds is back to feeding twice during the night just now! - the first two nights were awful but I'm getting into the swing of it again. Still not weaning him though

Twiga · 29/11/2005 20:04

Just in process of checking back over the thread, I can't keep up you're all talking too much ! Anyways, much excitment here as dd managed to roll onto her side about 10 mins ago and dh is now on the floor next to her willing her onto her tummy - she's 11wks tomorrow - not sure she'll make it the whole way over, can't seem to get her shoulder over enough but she's giving it a good go. Bit scarey really, am gonna have to stop leaving her on the sofa, changing mat and other high surfaces. She's usually really wriggly in the bath and when having nappy free time, guess she's been building up the muscles. There is heaps more to up-date on but i just know that if she's gonna make it onto her stomache tonight it'll be when I'm looking at this screen not at her so gonna go and help dh with the cheering and waving of tempting objects!!!

Twiga · 29/11/2005 20:20

dd is now flaked out on her playmat - didn't make it this time and has obviously worn herself out trying !

To be honest it's really cheered my day up, dd has been very unsettled and spent a lot of time screaming since Saturday, it's been a hard few days as dh has been working nights and I feel like I've been managing by myself. We suspect she might be teething and when I spoke to hv today she says may well be the case - white dot on bottem gum where canine would be, feels raised. Aparently very unusual to be this early - dd was two weeks overdue so if you add that to her age (11wks tomorrow) maybe that accounts for things - hv did say she's seen teething as early as 14wks before. Been feeling very emotional last few days and everything feels a bit preassured. Got dd's Christening on Sunday and rellies start arriving from Thurs night, house a tip and feels like still have lots to do. Things ok otherwise!

Will check in again in the morning to catch up on rest of chat - don't go talking too much before then!!!

josey · 29/11/2005 21:03

suzi2 i have one of the lie down bath chairs its sort of molded for there body its the only way i can discribe it dont know what it is called dd loves it and its much easier than holding them in the bath they are £9.99 out of mothercare i got it a couple of weeks ago as she was kicking half of her bath water out, also have you tried grape seed oil, i was told by midwife at massage class to try that as its very good and very natural dd doesnt have eczema but ds does.

wow i dont know what i would do if dd woke as many times at 7 or 8 she is away to bed at 8.30 and i dont expect to see her till her usual 8am i feel very guilty saying so.

nice to see you twiga, was thinking about you today must send you email to catch up

is anyone elses baby trying to sit up? if dd is propped up say sitting on my tummy with back against knee she is forcing herself forward into sitting possition not interested in rolling though!!

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 29/11/2005 21:35

I didn't think you meant it that way at all, Josey, I just know someone like that, and they're driving me crazy right now, so I don't want anyone else to think I'm like that, and I'm over paranoid about it right now. Caitlin's trying to sit up. I think she'll be like DS, who hated to be on the floor, and sat up before he learned to roll over.

Moschops-I just usually spot clean Caitlin, too. She hates the bath, and then I have to deal with Colin because he wants to be in the bath, and it is just too much.

Congratulations Twiga. Good to hear from you again.

I hope all this waking up is just teething. Usually she only woke up once around 4 am. She's only taking 10 min. naps, too. I don't think I can take much more of this. Her tooth isn't broken through anymore, but that is because her gums are so puffy, I think they just came over her tooth.

pookey · 29/11/2005 22:19

Hi all - there have been so many messages I can't keep up! ds isn't sleeping so well but last night he only woke once, unfortunately I had my own mid night waking for ages with some kind of tail bone pain or sciatica, I had the same pain about 2 weeks after giving birth it reminded me (in a very small way) about how physically battered I felt in those first weeks so not nice to be reminded!

Funny that most of our babies seem to have reverted to waking more -are people feeding everytime they wake?

Ds isn't anywhere near to rolling over he likes being propped but not sure that he is actually trying to sit. He is very chatty and smiley though

DS quite enjoys his bath but does cry sometimes when being dressed afterwards. I think he is ok with it because he knows it means he gets a feed afterwards. Dp holds him on a giant sponge while I clean that makes it so much less stressful than having to do it alone. To be honest I was a bit distant from Ds at first so perhaps he liked the undivided attention and the routine of it. The bath, feed, bed from 6:00 is the one bit of routine we managed to keep to.

Must try to figure out how we can post some xmas piccies

Miaou · 29/11/2005 22:32

my ds is the same pookey, loves the bath and cries once he realises it is over!

colinsmommy, you sound like you are having a really tough time atm. Are you ok? I'm around for a while if you want a chat.

OP posts:
suzi2 · 29/11/2005 22:42

C&Cs Mum - I know those feelings all too well. DS is struggling to stay asleep for more than 10 mins. I feel a bit of a failure actually - most people I know have perfect 'sleep through' babies! Except you lot The only think that's keeping me going is to keep thinking "tonight will be different" and when it's bad, just going with the flow and telling myself it's not forever.

Pookey - I have a huge problem with my sacrum - it was a bit of an issue pre pregnancy, got worse during pregnancy and now is awful since birth. I'm seeing an osteopath which has made a real difference. Just out of interest, did you have a lot of tearing or an episiotomy? I didn't, but my osteopath tells me that sacral/coccyx pain can often be due to that.
