.sounds like a similar method to bean burgers (can be done in oven as well as frying). So if you wanted egg free, just use plain flour. I think I'll try it as DD is going through a preference for finger food at dinner atm.

tbh the idea of cheese and lentils make me gag, but apparently the vast majority of the population actually like cheese Grin (people's faces when they ask how did I give it up and I respond with 'well I never liked it anyway'). If you're lazy (like me) you just chop the onion quite finely, let the mixture sit in the fridge before molding and then bake/fry without cooking the onions first. Lentils often get cooked before hand in this house.

DD actually ate dinner today, as relaxed as we try to be, it's always a relief when it happens.

PenguinArmy · 24/06/2011 07:36

BC In my defence on the minor pleasures thread, I'm having a pg libido spike. DH is quite happy as he keeps randomly getting woken up when I get into bed WinkGrin I'm quite proud of myself even if it's a short term thing, plus since he's not that awake he's happy with anything so less pressure.

SconesForTea · 24/06/2011 09:13

PA you have sparked my interest, I'm off to look for that thread in a minute. Good for you though Grin I had a definite spike in libido a few weeks ago, it was great, seems to have died down now though.

Thanks for the recipe bc. I'm with PA on hating cheese but DD does like it, I'd prob make the wedges without and give her cheese on the side so that I could taste them too.

I'm pretty sure DD is teething, anyone know what comes after the first molars or is it random?! Lots of dribbling and she wouldn't settle for an hour and a half at bedtime last night. Thank goodness DH was there to share the stress and dole out the calpol. A fairly standard night, one wake-up at 3am and then up at 6.30 (DH resettled her til 7 though). I can tell she is really tired though, I hope we're not going to have a day of it.

chinook so pleased for you that DS sleep is so much better. But isn't it strange how you suddenly feel awful after better sleep. I find the same if I've had a night away from DD - feel like I've been run over by a truck the next day. Hope you start to feel better soon.

SB Shock that your DS can eat raw carrots. DD is desperate for them as I eat them quite regularly but she can't manage them, even if I serve her peelings (not the skin, but the carrot sliced with a peeler). Just too chewy.

I am going away again this weekend! Tbh I wish I wasn't. I've only had two nights at home since coming back from my mum's. But it has been planned for months so I must go, and I will enjoy it I'm sure. My two sisters and I are staying in a cottage in a very pretty village not far from here, to chill out for the weekend. We're going to a comedy gig tonight and will probably spend the rest of the weekend eating (me) and drinking (them). I would love an early night in with DH followed by a weekend just relaxing with him and DD. Ungrateful sod that I am!

SconesForTea · 24/06/2011 09:13

Last day at work PA?

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 24/06/2011 09:23

scones it should be the canines after the 1st molars. The 2nd molars should be around 2 yo. The canines usually don't come easily... so good luck.
DD2 has been shaving raw carrots since she had 2 teeth (5/6 months ?), she is now eating them properly, she also eat steak in small pieces.

DD2's fever is down, no blood test , and she has the telltale rash so I can give up taking the urine sample (it didn't went well yesterday Grin even with the pediatric pouch)
I can sleep now!

StoneBaby · 24/06/2011 13:08

Sick baby here! Picked up DS from nursery at 12.30pm as he had 38.7C in temperature. He's now asleep in my arms. I'm hoping it's not chicken pox or hand, foot and mouth Hmm ony time will tell

Waves to all

InmaculadaConcepcion · 24/06/2011 14:16

Thank goodness, Mous - now the rash is out, I hope it won't be too long before your DD2 is back on form.

I can attest to canines being the worst so far, Scones - apart from a bit of night restlessness, DD was fine with all her other teeth, but these have caused mealtime tears and general grumpiness......
Enjoy your weekend!

Good news on the better sleeping, PA. As a fellow insomniac, I feel your pain. Mine's also been better the last few days - helped by DD sleeping through, thankfully.
And enjoy the libido spike! At least you won't need the morning after pill now Wink

Yum, that recipe sounds lovely Bc! Our household would probably collapse without cheese and as DD has taken well to daal, that sounds well worth trying.

chinook I'm now very intrigued at the prospect of having a ferry travel cot...! Whether DD sleeps in it or not remains to be seen - I bloody hope she does....

Soc I continually marvel at how advanced your DD2 is!
DD has expanded her repertoire of animal sounds to included panting and wuffing for dogs, "ming-yow" (cat) and "eeh-eeh" (mouse). She adores dogs and gets very excited if she sees or hears them when we're out and about. Her vocabulary is still very limited, although she's getting the idea that saying "please" when she wants something gets a better response than when she doesn't.

Thanks for reminding me about raw carrots, SB - I haven't tried DD on them since she was much smaller and I wimped out because they seemed too hard. Good idea on offering "peelings" too, Scones .

Poor old DH had to hang around all morning in the lobby of our building with all our boxes waiting for the shipping company to pick them up. They said they'd come between 09.00 and 14.00...and arrived at 13.55. Typical!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 24/06/2011 14:17

X-posted SBH - your poor old DS. I hope whatever it is doesn't hang around for long. Get well soon, little fella!

OP posts:
StoneBaby · 24/06/2011 15:19

Just came back from gp, DS has tonselitis (sp). He's been a brave little spldier and he's now back to sleep on my chest.

We love cheese here but I'm not sure about mixing some with lentils. DS discovered goat cheese while in France and really enjoys it

InmaculadaConcepcion · 24/06/2011 18:10

Ouch, poor thing, SB - I used to get that a lot, it hurts. Easily cleared with anti-bis, though. He should perk up in a day or too...

Goat's cheese is a big fave with DD too - especially melted on things.

OP posts:
StoneBaby · 24/06/2011 18:19

Thanks IC I also use to suffer from it a lot when I was his age up to about 6 yo when I had the tonsils removed... Hopefully he won't have inherited my genes on this Hmm

PA how was your last day?

SocietyClowns · 24/06/2011 18:25

IC I think a lot has to do with having an older sibling and simply copying them. Smile She is pretty random on animal noises... They mostly say 'Ahhh' like a lion. Grin She's also somewhat hazy on body parts apart from her nose, tummy and bottom HmmGrin

Stone Glad you know what's wrong. Did you get AB? GP's usually don't prescribe them any more...
mous Also glad your dd2 is on the mend.

Adding to the cheese debate, I rarely have a meal without it!! (Curry is one more obvious exception). My two girls love cheese, the stronger the better!

SocietyClowns · 24/06/2011 18:27

Oh and IC, pat your dh on the back from me... that is some dedication!!

SocietyClowns · 24/06/2011 18:31

bear I've just printed off your recipe and will try it (probably adding extra cheese... Grin Thanks!

StoneBaby · 24/06/2011 18:48

sc yes I got some AB especially as DS throat wasn't looking nice at all. My poor little thing Sad he's now in bed and I hope our night won't be too bad. I'm aiming to do a fever check by 10pm and give him ibuprofen if needed.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 24/06/2011 20:09

Out of interest, does anyone (BBB ?) know which is more effective at getting a fever down: ibuprofen or paracetamol? Or are they about the same in that regard? Just curious....

(Back duly patted, thanks Soc) Smile

OP posts:
StoneBaby · 24/06/2011 20:18

IC I don't know which one is the most effective but I know that DS temperature drops quicker with ibuprofen.

soc DS does exactly the same 'lion' sound every times he sees an animal (real or tv). Grin

PenguinArmy · 24/06/2011 21:16

I also think that I've heard that ibuprofen is better

SocietyClowns · 24/06/2011 22:15

Hmm, I was told paracetamol is better at reducing fever, but ibuprofen works longer for pain relief (most useful at night)...
BBB should be able to give a definite answer? (PS. Hope your appt was okay)

PenguinArmy · 25/06/2011 03:49

Well work is over, I feel more dumb than anything but it is a relief. I may have walked out with a 16GB memory stick

Went for a lovely walk around the harbour today, although I forgot to change into shorts first so was rather hot as the sun was fully out by then. Let DD run around loads and now she's suitably knackered as well. There's a solstice parade tomorrow so think we'll go to that, clothes shopping on Sunday, lazy day Monday i.e. slow stuff that's not work :)

DD has a odd night but was also running very hot Confused she did sleep through the night before though. She normally resettles almost instantly but not last night.

Did I mention no work?

StoneBaby · 25/06/2011 07:30

Yepe houra for PA Grin

DS slept through the night and this morning seems in a better shape.

SocietyClowns · 25/06/2011 10:01

Well done PA and enjoy the beach and shopping. Hope you got presents and cards from your crap boss to compensate for all the hassle he has given you?

StoneBaby · 25/06/2011 12:03

15mn tantrum and counting...

BigBadBear · 25/06/2011 17:16

Hello and sorry (as ever) for not posting recently. I read everyone's posts on my phone, but writing a long post is a bit painful, so I wait until I can get to a computer.

So we had the biomechanics appointment on Thursday. DD2 has hypermobility in her hips and ankles. It's not very bad and it should sort itself out with a bit of support from boots and correcting her sitting position, but also as she bears more weight on her legs. Her knees are unaffected, so that's good, but she has it in her hands and feet too. The podiatrist was very good, and said that it was probably a bit from me (as I am quite bendy) and also due to my SPD. We can go back whenever we want and he definitely wants to see her as she starts walking. So a big cheer for the NHS!

DH and I are still struggling a bit, but he is making a bit effort. I need to come away from the edge a bit, and respond to his efforts more than I am doing at the moment, but I'm finding it difficult as we've been here so many times before and it never lasts long. But hopefully this time will be different.

We've talked about how we need to swap the girls a bit between us, and we've got stuck in a rut with him spending a lot of time with DD1 and me with DD2. This means DD2 won't go to him very happily, and DD1 often gives me a hard time, so we need to break that habit.

DD2 has rather randomly sprouted a molar (I say random as she only has five teeth at the front) so she's a bit cranky, especially as she has a nasty cold too. She's off her food and a bit grumbly, but not too bad.

Well done on finishing work PA.

IC paracetamol and ibuprofen are supposed to be as good as each other. I prefer ibuprofen and find it more effective, but there are many more side effects and contraindications compared to paracetamol.

Sorry to all those with poorliness in their houses. And sorry for lack of personal responses.I'm grabbing a couple of minutes when I should be cooking dinner, and will write more later.

PenguinArmy · 25/06/2011 17:28

BBB Glad you got a diagnosis. There are loads of hypermobility threads on here, in fact I saw one the other day but didn't want to point it out until it had been confirmed.

Good luck to your's and DH's relationship. You're right, it takes a sustained effort and often the case that people make that effort for a few days then slip again.

SB Let us know how long it lasts
