vagolaJahooli · 12/03/2011 23:23

Drunk, DS2 gave the babysitter curry, but we were blissfully unaware because her phone wasn't working so she couldn't call us to get us to cons home. The result a great night out!

vagolaJahooli · 12/03/2011 23:34

Oh have just read back. Quite strange, ng can cause reflux to be worse because it literate opens up the pyloric sphincter a little so easy access for the material that wants to reflux. Obviously the NJ does the same but in theory should be less likely to worsen reflux because its not got anything, food wise in the stomach to be sending back up. I assume they have done the xray and confirmed position and no curling. Could it be that the hernia is causing pain? It's not inconceivable. I'm sorry I'm a little drunk and rambling. I so wish I could get him seeing some of the peads gastros I worked with, they could be arrogant buggers sometimes but their dedication to relieving kids pain and general commitment to sorting out stuff was brilliant.

vagolaJahooli · 12/03/2011 23:34

Did I say I was drunk three strikes I'm out.

vagolaJahooli · 13/03/2011 19:16

Really, no one today? I couldn't let a whole day go by without posting so have come on. This doesn't count as post three as its a new day!

Had a lovely day. The boys had their fun run this morning a little one km route around a big park. They loved it, there were thousands of kids taking part. DS2 was ecstatic and just ran like a little demon around the course. Tge finish was in the same place that the longer adult races finished so was the real deal with the fenced off crowds and ad banners and race finish. Waa so sweet DS2 & I were towards the back so amongst the stragglers but the big crowds cheers him on and clapped for him. He just beemed as he ran along and was just so chuffed with the whole thing.

DH was feeling a bit better but we both decided to ditch the 10km and had lunch with the boys in town instead. DS2 played up a little, I think the crowd pleaser thing went to his head. Then home and a friend popped over, and then DS1 & I baked up a storm of biscuits & muffins ready for a bunch of friends who are coming with their bubs for coffee tomorrow morning. Feeling a bit shattered now. Thankfully DH is cooking tea. The boys were ravenous and ate a huge dinner bless them. Off to sleep now. Yay.

Right I've rambled better go.

JumpJockey · 13/03/2011 21:25

Evening all, well it's been a fairly frantic weekend here, house went on the market on Friday Shock so have spent the whole time clearing junk into the loft, touching up paint on doorframes, etc etc. Will be putting in an offer tomorrow [double Shock] so cross your fingers for us! went back for a final view on Sat and there were more people having a look, they've already got two offers above asking price and have found a place so need to get a good offer in then sell our place. Yikes.

Veggie, your boys are superstars doing a 1k run! DD likes to try walking home from nursery but usually stops to pick leaves, walk along walls (we've a rule that if wall is higher than her head then no go, otherwise they're fair game!), walk backwards (?), walk on her knees (??) etc etc, so would take hours on end to do a race like that!

Invis, hope ds is better soon, poor youi and him :( Can you freeze some of the food? Otherwise, we cvould all pop by to help? Grin

spot I really wish there was something that could help poor B, the one good thing is he won't remember any of it. Presumably also T understands more but won't have long term memories of his brother being ill.

beans, am keeping your mil in my prayers :(

arti, so glad to hear you feeling more chipper. And how lovely to have your mum come back to you like that in a happy dream :)

WG - windiness, we had that with S and E seems to be going the same way. One thing I've found is that my milk comes really fast when there's a let-down, especially on the right hand side - I was expressing while feeding her on the left and it came out like a flipping watering can - so I've been feeding her more in a lying back position (me lying back, her on my tummy) so the milk doesn't make her glug and swallow so much air. Plus lots and lots of bicycling, but that's usually when she's doing the pained writhing so a bit late. Not bothering with infacol, it's such a faff with bfing and never seemed to help. We're clinging to the idea that if it's colicy pain, ie related to under-developed gut, she'll be out of it soon.

JamInMyWellies · 14/03/2011 08:38

Finally got our router all back and working properly so will have a sit down later for a proper catch up.

zoejeanne · 14/03/2011 13:51

Welcome back Jam

Vag you did make me laugh, with your impressive medical advice followed by btw am drunk. Your boys did so well, DD sounds just like Jumps, taking forever and a day to get anywhere

Good luck with the house Jump, have you offered on the one you linked to?

Hope the voms have passed Invis and the food wasn't wasted

I'm taking DD to the docs this pm, as she had a scream a thon for a couple of hours again in the night, this time worse than I've ever heard her scream. When we calmed her down she told us her ear was hurting so I suspect she's picked up the infection that has been doing the rounds at nursery. Typically she's been fine all day, but I'd prefer to get her checked. And what worried me most about her night waking last night was that she was incredibly cold to touch, which is odd I think, so will quiz the doc.

JumpJockey · 14/03/2011 14:22

zj yes we've put in our offer, and have two lots of people coming to view our place this afternoon Shock Shock fortunately before dd is back from nursery! have to hope the washing's dry by then. wouldn't give the best impression of the garden :)

hope dd is ok, ears so painful :( and the being cold sounds a bit scary.

vagolaJahooli · 14/03/2011 20:10

Very exciting about the offer JJ! How did the viewings go today?

How are things with you Invis, any better today?

Hooray for internet resumption Jam. We are still waiting for our connection. We are finally booked in for Friday afternoon. I have to wait in from 12-1730! One of the school mums is kindly taking DS1 from school for the afternoon and then bringing him home so he won't be stuck inside too. It's a half day on Friday.

Had a lovely morning with a bunch of girls and todds over for a coffee morning to christen the house. Was really nice and the tots had a great time. DS2 really seemed to love having all his little friends over at his house. Was very sweet. Will have to do it more often. I made way too many biscuits and muffins though so have loads to eat through.

Right better go dinner time.

EffiePerine · 14/03/2011 22:14

If anyone has Jolly's address (Sybs?) could they pm me on here or FB? I have several hats of wildly different sizes to post off. I suspect some writers of baby patterns to be having a laff.

Exciting news on the house JJ :).

Spot: hope B is getting used to the tube feeding. Poor little man :(.

urbanewarrior · 14/03/2011 22:22

Just quick one from me to say that Spot I've been thinking of you and B. I think you're being heroic.

And beans lots of white light for MIL. Am too tired to offer any thing more constructive (although will say JJ that's fast news on the house - fingers crossed).

TheInvisibleHand · 14/03/2011 22:50

Just quickly as I am supposed to on to work, DS is finally getting back to normal - threw up again this morning, seems to have more or less stopped vomming. Would love to have redistributed the food mountain to you lovely ladies - we have more or less managed to dispose of it through a combo of the freezer, my mum/sis and slowly eating our way through it. Biggest challenge was a whole salmon we had ready to cook and which needed eating really. Suffice it to say we've had our fill for a while!

JJ - house stuff sounds v exciting good luck!

Vag - loved the drunken ramblings. Sounds like you had a lovely coffee morning.

Right. Back to work.

JamInMyWellies · 15/03/2011 08:45

Gosh where is everyone?

zoejeanne · 15/03/2011 08:56

Have pm'd you Effie with Jolly's address

traceface · 15/03/2011 09:38

hello ladies
it has been quiet on here hasn't it? I'm quite releived - I was bracing myself for a mega catch-up!
zj how did E get on at the GP? The cold to touch thing is often when their temp is really high, which would go in line with an ear infection. Hope you had a better night last night.
spot I just want to echo what everyone else is saying - you are doing the most amazing job. It is so so tough for you at the moment and you are getting through it, one day at a time. Are you and DP getting on ok? Also are things resolved with SIL? Thinking of you.
jj can't believe how quickly your house move is happening - we've been on the market 2 weeks and haven't heard a thing yet! I'm rather Envy
Where is deidre? She's been quiet for ages.
I heard some rather sad news this morning. One of the playground mummies has been battling cancer for a while and she passed away last night. She lived to see her dd start school in January, despite thinking she would not make it that long, which must have been wondeful for her. Can't imagine how it is for her dh and their 2 LOs. So sad.
My manager is ringing me any minute... She has written a referral to Occ Health, and wants to discuss it with me. Basically she has written that she's concerned about my ability to make decisions, to manage lone working and to manage situations involving young people and mental health. I can see where she's coming from, but the reason I'm heading towards going back to work is because I am getting better, so hopefully when I have my occ health appointment they will judge those things to be ok. I guess it's about identifying possible areas where it might all go wrong, and putting things in place to stop that happening.
I weighed myself yesterday, as all my clothes are too tight (couldn't even fasten one pair of jeans yesterday), and I've gained half a stone. Grr. So as from yesterday I'm trying to eat more healthily and move more! I did a workout dvd and no naughty snacks, so if I keep it up then hopefully I'll reverse the damage!
I have a questions relating to boobs... my left nip has been feeling a bit tender, just a bit sensitive when pulling clothes on etc. Yesterday when I was in the shower I noticed it was a bit oozy, so I gave it a little squeeze, and what I assume was milk came out. Not loads, but I could get quite a few drips. I stopped feeding P at 16 months, which is almost a year ago - would it be normal to leak a bit of milk or do you think I should be worried?

LadyThompson · 15/03/2011 10:56

Sorry ladies, I have just been catching up with myself since the hol, and trying to pack up a bit for the ever-postponed housemove! I didn't even end up going to London last weekend - DP nobly went off to chambers to work so I stayed home to do stuff.

It's really springlike around here - the birds, the daffs, something in the air...I like all the seasons actually but I am always ready for spring when it comes. There are other harbingers of spring, like the hassles of finishing off organising the cricket fixtures...and the new council tax bill....

Trace, that is awful about the playground Mummy. My gosh, how fortunate we all are. As to your manager, at least she is putting you first and making sure everything is in place to protect you. Don't know about the boobs but someone else will.

ZJ - how is DD? How scary.

JJ, cor, properties don't hang around in your neck of the woods, do they Grin How did your house viewings go?

Beans, am thinking of your MIL...any further news?

Invis, I am glad your DS seems to be coming out the other side. I have noted that Freedom is a goodie. I have just started The News Where You Are, by Catherine someone who won the Costa First Book Award with her previous book. It got big praise from Jonathan Coe so my ears pricked up.

Rubes, did you go to the country club/gym? There is one of those near to the new house...and it has a spa attached. We have been but it is ruinously expensive but it's not even that - they have no creche! So next to useless. They are struggling a bit and er, I think that's partly why...But if yours has a creche, what heaven. As to your DD2, I don't think people should comment about size (it's just so variable). Also, I have the chalk and cheese sisters...DD1 is so petite and DD2 is so...well...massive. Did you have a good weekend? How are your spirits after the trip?

Arti, your skivey day sound lovely. I love shutters. Glad you sound more chipper. I do still feel quite bouncy, yes. However, I only have to think about the fact that I will probably have to rent out my London flat by the end of the year to put me in a gloom.

Yes, where IS Deidre?

Jam, I'm glad your broadband is sorted, it's such a niusance without I know.

Vag, you sound like you are having such a nice time in Den Haag. I know you were a bit blue about it a few months ago, has that gone now?

Ugh, must go as DD1 needs a nappy change. I can't even mention the potty now as she gets annoyed. So will be leaving all that for a few months.

LadyThompson · 15/03/2011 17:00

Strike a light, it IS quiet on here! Well, I managed to effect one of my New Year Resolutions today and got the double buggy out. Lumme, it's heavy. I'll have arms like Ross Kemp by the summer if I push that monster every day.

I was a proper SAHM today and we did things, instead of me selfishly surfing the net and drinking coffee. Post Office, walked to the farm shop and let DD1 choose some things (strawberry jam, a yellow pepper and carrots) then on to the playground.

Artichokes · 15/03/2011 18:39

Hellooooo,

I haven't much to say but it's so quiet on here so i want to u the post count.

Oh I do have something. Rubes, we have a "club" membership. Our place has gym, indoor and outdoor pools, soft play, playground, crèche, tennis courts and cricket pitch. It's our one big indulgence becUse we both need to swim to keep our backs healthy and the outdoor pool makes that so much more pleasant. Has your place got lots of kids classes? If so I would go for it. DD1 does ballet and swimming classes at ours so we save on paying for them. And DD2 does gymnastics and swimming (I use both those terms loosely).

Trace, is your manager being sympathetic and supportive or box ticking. I hope the former. Are you still feeling good about returning to work? You do sound so much better.

Lady, your DD2 doesn't look massive, just gorgeously squishy. I love spring too. It's arrival is cheering me no end.

Work still manic. House still a mess. Spot on chin still there. DD2 ill for last 3 nights so no sleep has been had. But all that is outweighed by the joyous news that I found my spanx. Wobbly bits now under control.

sybilfaulty · 15/03/2011 19:10

Hello everyone

Sorry for no post but I am in work hell, just too much to do and no time in which to do it! I should emerge next monday but I will try to read in the meantime. Hope everyone is well.

Lots of love XXXX

DeidreBarlow · 15/03/2011 19:42

Hello All, apologies for my absence. I have been lurking but haven't felt much like posting. I feel really 'flat' at the moment. Just lots of very silly things that seem to bring me down...all of which is absolutely nothing compared to what some of you are going through. So I'll stop sounding so self indulgent I'm annoying me.

Lovely Spot, you've had such a rough old time of late. I think about you often and hope that things get easier for you soon.

JB, how are you and how is DD doing?

Beans, so sorry to hear about your MILSad. I do hope that your DH is doing okay, and you. How is your Dad? You have such a lot to deal with at the moment I hope you are looking after yourself.

Ladyt & Rubes glad you both had wonderful holidays!

Trace, great to hear you sounding better. I hope your manager is supportive of you too.

Avo, Hooray for the move. I'm sure the stress and madness that surrounds you at the moment will improve as you settle in and start to make 'the house your home'.

Invis, how are things going now?

JJ, Exciting news on the house. I do hope it all goes smoothly for you.

MOM & WG, How are you both coping with the newbies?

I'm sure I have missed lots of you out but lots of love to you all Smile

traceface · 15/03/2011 20:02

hi deidre
Sorry you're feeling rather flat. Is there anything specific? Are you still running? We've missed you on here. Take care of yourself xxx

zoejeanne · 15/03/2011 20:26

Hello Deids , lovely to 'see' you again, I'm sorry you're feeling flat, please do unload into the basket, no problem is too small

Trace that is so sad about the school Mum. One if my workmates has a friend who is seriously ill with cancer and who has 2 young children. I wonder if it is the same person? My workmate has been busy the last few weeks getting photo albums made up and ordering gifts for the children that their Mum had chosen. Heartbreaking. On work, did you say you were having a phased return? Could it be your manager is just trying to work out what your workload should be? Interesting about the cold to touch, thanks, it would explain why she wasn't shivering.

Hooray for spanx Arti

LadyT my day has been the opposite of yours, with much poor parenting and telly watching. Maybe there's only room in the world for so many good mummies?

E does have an ear infection, thanks for everyone's concern. Once I'd got the appt booked, she perked up no end and spent yesterday saying 'no poorly, no ear hurt', especially loudly when we were in the waiting room - typical! But she has a slight infection in one ear, the one she was telling us was hurting her (which in some ways makes me pleased she can communicate so well), and now has ABs, which she loves. I think I'd better book her into the Priory now, she can't get enough of prescription drugs! Her appetite has come back with a vengeance today, and we had a rather yummy gruffalo crumble for tea, that came home from nursery. Disappointedly, I found no warts or purple prickles in it

zoejeanne · 15/03/2011 22:09

Oh, I forgot to ask you all for your help with a work thing - last year you kindly did a quick survey about York, please can you do an even quicker one (just one question) for me? It is aimed at people who've been to York, but if you have a burning desire to visit then it could also work. Thanks lovely ladies!

survey

TheInvisibleHand · 15/03/2011 23:09

LadyT - thanks for the book tip. Meant to ask, did you like Cold Comfort Farm? It is one of the ones I tend to turn to for a bit of a comfort read.

Deids - sorry you are feeling flat, but very glad to see you on here again.

Slowly getting back to normal in our house. At least DS has stopped throwing up, although he does have the runs instead now. He is looking pitifully tiny. (LadyT, meant to say, I am sure your DD2 is perfectly proportioned. I keep looking at my lovely niece and thinking she is enormous, but then she is firmly 50th centile - its just that my two have always been small, so I have no perspective at all).

ZJ - glad your DD is on the mend and very impressed with her communication skills.

Arti - if spanx makes your world a little better, I am glad for their reappearance. The rest will soon follow.

Trace - hope the call went well and your manager is being properly supportive. V sad news about the playground mum. Does put everything else into perpsective

TheInvisibleHand · 15/03/2011 23:11

ZJ - I have never been to York. I did have a burning desire to go there when I was about 10 and they had opened the Jorvik centre. My brother got to go with school and I was very disappointed to miss out. I can fill out your survey in honour of my 10 year old self!
