spotofcheerfulness · 23/02/2011 22:50

Erm, all I can say is my labour started as period pains at 7am and DS2 was with us a few hours later, so prepare yourself and get your doula on the case! Good luck Grin

zoejeanne · 23/02/2011 23:46

testing testing

zoejeanne · 23/02/2011 23:47

hmmm, have tried 3 times to post something meaningful, and have failed. Will try again

zoejeanne · 23/02/2011 23:59

Right, I am getting really rather angry with this now, as it won't let me post everything I wanted to. And I really want to wish lots of people luck and other stuff too Angry. This is my 6th and final attempt.

How exciting about the twinges WG Grin, and for Jolly and Katie's big day tomorrow. When I saw Trace's post with Jolly's news I sent her a text message, and she tells me she has her fingers crossed for you WG. She doesn't have an internet phone and wanted to be able to come on board this evening and join us, as I suspect she is lonely and scared in hospital tonight. I have tried to pass on as much news as possible.

But 3 new babies in one day Grin, I am so excited and giddy about it. And Mom, if you're so inclinded, maybe you could make it 4? Grin Is anyone else getting boy vibes from this lot? Billy does need some male friends his own age

And talking of Billy, I'm really glad you and him are home now and with T Spot, and that you got time off the housework too! How sad though, that he is still in a lot of pain Sad, surely the drs must be able to work out a combination of drugs that suit him soon

zoejeanne · 24/02/2011 00:11

Yay, that worked, so I will continue ...

I was trying to think back to the days preceeding DD's birth WG, as my DH was really busy then and I was on my own, as your DH is - but I guess now it's too late to offer suggestions for things to fill your time. I had those twingey, crampy pains, but I just took them for late pregnancy discomfort ... and went for a drive ... on my own ... Is there a symbol for a complete and utter nutcase? I shouldn't be allowed out! Can you take a paracetemol and go to bed with a hot water bottle? I managed to snatch a few hours sleep, between the driving and my waters breaking. Good luck my love, I'll be thinking of you

Rubes I was relieved to hear from you, enjoy the wedding and raise a glass of Wine to the bride and groom

Your holiday sounds blissful LadyT, all that peace and quiet and sunshine

Good luck with the move tomorrow Vag. How is your finger? And have you picked up DF2 yet? I hope she gets on with DF1

Trace how is half term going? Is it fun having DH and the girls with you, or are they intruding on your little oasis of calm and 'you' space? How was DH's OFSTED last week? I think you're plan of staying in your village is a good one, you can't put a price on good friends and neighbours

Are you still on holiday Deids, or was it just a weekend trip? I hope DS stopped vomiting and that none of the rest of you caught it. And Effie when is your weekend away?

Ok, will attempt to post again ...

zoejeanne · 24/02/2011 00:18

... getting there at last

I am impressed with all the brave ladies who are attempting potty training - good lukc Trace, Beans and Urbane. I am terrified by it, and even if DD is looking like she might be ready there is no way I am. Nappies seem so easy (just chuck in the bin) compared to the mountain of wee and poo soaked clothes I'm imaging. Someone sell it to me please

I've had a fb friend request tonight from a nursery nurse at DD's nursery. Does anyone else find it a bit wierd, or is it just me? I don't really want to know what she does outside of work, and I don't want her to know what I do. She's perfectly nice, but I just think it's a little odd. I've already ignored her once and now she'll think I'm rude if I ignore her again

Yesterday I took DD to see the lambs at a friends farm - they have a few mothers who are struggling to feed, so several lambs are on bottles and I thought DD would enjoy giving them their bottles. But for such an animal crazy girl, she got really overwhelmed and shy and wouldn't touch them or hold the bottles or anything. I, however, had a great time feeding and cuddling the lambs and we even saw one being born. We humans do make a big deal out of childbirth, that sheep barely blinked her eye. So WG, Jolly and Katie - just think of sheep and all will be fine Wink

Night all, I'll be thinking positive new baby thoughts and can't wait to hear how many new babies we will have by this time tomorrow (or later today, as it is now). Lots of love xx

And after 5 posts you will be relieved to know that is all from me. Night

Rubena · 24/02/2011 02:48

Good luck to WG Katie and of course Jolly

It's so hot here.... and we aren't even at our hottest destination yet!
dh just gone to the shop again to replace the G&T's I drank from the minibar on arrival Blush and to get swimming nappies as we have a lovely pool here.

dd has started eating solids again (slowly) and ds has picked it up a little after a bit of reverse psychology.

EffiePerine · 24/02/2011 06:36

Any news WG?

Best wishes to Jolly and miniJ: will be thinking of you :)

Now to catch up...

EffiePerine · 24/02/2011 06:48

And now caught up!

Rubes: great to hear from you, we have missed you! Sorry you had such travails while jetting about. When's the wedding? Will you see your bro at all?

Zoe: awwww at the lambs, your DD is lucky being able to connect wiv nature at this time of year (I love the spring, it's my favourite season). There were several new babies at the zoo when we visited and the boys were v intrigued.

Trace: you are doing a splendid job keeping us up to date! How is half term? I am sticking my fingers in my ears re the potty training and waiting until the summer when ds2 can run around in the garden with no pants.

Vag: how is the move progressing?

EffiePerine · 24/02/2011 06:54

Part 3 (posting on phone and don't want to lose messages).

Spot: is the gaviscon helping at all? I can see that the docs would want to give time between adjusting meds but it must be hard when B is in pain and not feeding :(. Are you going to be on your own with the boys for long? It's good that B likes the bjorn but your poor back.

And another baby from Katie? I'm missing lots of FB news cos I need to adjust my settings on the news feed thingy.

My weekend away is next weekend, between BIL, wife and baby visiting this weekend and FIL the week after. It's all go

Artichokes · 24/02/2011 07:14

How goes les twaaanges WG? My 2nd labour started like that and rumbled on like that from 9pm-11am when they finally became clearer. Sometimes they were regular, sometimes strong but no real pattern. Just enough to keep me awake. It was odd as everyone had told be 2nd lavours are quicker. Anyway, I hope you got some sleep.

MomOrMum · 24/02/2011 07:16

I'm scared to post from my phone as I can barely send text messages! But reading along and thinking of Jolly, WG, Katie today. Hope there's lots of reports of healthy babies later. Wish I could join you but I'm feeling very far from being ready to pop. Went into town all day yesterday with DS including lots of lifting in the hopes it might get things moving but no luck. Due date is a week Saturday so probably wishful thinking that anything will happen soon. Posting now before I screw it up.

Artichokes · 24/02/2011 07:17

And of course huge luck to Jolly for today. I am sending loads of White light and lung development vibes your way Jolly.

vagolaJahooli · 24/02/2011 07:44

I haven't managed to read through yet and movers are coming soon. But I think a Katie had her bub on Tuesday.

Next text to Jolly tell her I said just relax let them get baby out, stay healthy and then sort out the pump.

WG I had the same period like pain, it is called unestablished labour its when all the hormones muscles and all the other action is getting all sorted and ready to get going. It can all happen in a few hours or a bit longer. For me with both boys they started at 12.30 am and both boys were delivered in the evenings of the same day. Basically she is on the way sunshine. Aaaahhh I'm so excited. Regardless of how this ends WG she came when she wanted to.

sybilfaulty · 24/02/2011 07:48

How very exciting! I hope things are progressing in the WG household. Is it another wee girl though? I thought WG was having a surprise.

Jolly, stay calm and lots of love. WE are all thinking of you and your new soon to be born baby. I am glad you are in the hospital you wanted to be in.

I don't do FB, but thought LAdyT said Katie was having her CS on 22 Feb? Could well be wrong though, but s/he might already be here!

EffiePerine · 24/02/2011 08:18

Arti: my second labour was longer too! It was also better - less rushed and panicky.
I hope WG, Mr WG and doula are busy Grin

SummerLightning · 24/02/2011 09:54

Hello everyone,

Sorry been away for a bit, had my parents here and then MIL and not managed to get on. MIL had a massive argument with DH right at kids bedtime, and I got in a huge strop with the bloody drama queen pair of them. Not impressed. Seriously annoying.

Anyway everything seems to be getting very exciting round here. Lots of luck to Jolly and family for today and looking forward to a lovely announcment later.
I also think Katie was having her baby yesterday or even the day before...have not seen any announcment on FB yet, but then maybe she is a wee bit busy Grin
wg I hope things are progressing, either that or it calmed down and you got some kip. Sorry you are feeling neglected, I think DD got less fuss made of her than DS too when she was born. I quite liked it though as I got some peace. And I for one am very excited about your new arrival and am looking forward to birth story as well!!

DD has suddenly started rolling around EVERYWHERE. If she wants something the other side of the room she can make her way there. Which she often does as she is a right little nosy parker. DS not impressed. I was hoping she would be a late crawler, but I think she may figure it out soon!

Oh can anyone remember what they are like when you start weaning? Cannot decide if it is going well or not. DD not keen on being fed, but she is now swallowing things. Mostly doing finger foods as she doesn't open mouth for spoon really. She is definitely swallowing stuff as nappies show it! But she really can't be eating much. This is normal isn't it? It's quite good as I don't have to sit for ages with a spoon but bloomin heck it makes a mess.

vaggie are you in the new place yet, or still moving between the two?

zoe you made me laugh with us making a fuss about childbirth and those sheep Grin. Bet wg's not laughing at you though, bet she's thinking "fuck off zj!" haha.
I would ignore DD's nursery worker on fb again. Why do you think she requested you, is it cos she's e-mailed you and has your e-mail and found through that or do you think she specifically searched for you? I would ignore anyone at DS's nursery if they did that, though if there was someone I became good mates with who worked there I would think about it.

Hope Lady and DB are having nice trips, and hope the illies are getting better and you are having a fab time rubes.

Right better post now!

JumpJockey · 24/02/2011 10:30

Sending massive "happy labour" vibes to WG, "big healthy baby" vibes to Jolly, and I think Katie had said on FB she was due her CS on Tuesday so "tell us the news" vibes Wink

anyway - sorry to be off for so long, E has been having some kind of mammoth growth spurt and feeding what feels like every 45 mins, plus S has been very 2, shall we say... it's incredible how quickly she can go from Good heavens the apocalypse is here, ammmeeeeaaaaoooooo (mummy cuddle = I am angry about something) to happy and smily again.

random fb requests, I have been asked by my community mw to be friends - she's lovely but it does seem a bit weird!

SL the one thing about BLW is to remember that it's for fun to begin with, milk is still most of her cals for a good while yet, if she swallows anything that's a bonus really.

Spot you have been so brave for both your boys, no medical advice at all but sending you all big hugs

Rubs thanks for the update, v glad you're safe and also WG's family and Vaggie's friends.

SummerLightning · 24/02/2011 11:09

jj I am reluctant to say I am doing BLW even though I kind of am. Partly because someone at my work who i don't like a great deal in the first place told me that E would eat fine if only we'd done BLW. Honestly, i nearly fucking punched him. Twat. Just because I bloody fed him from a spoon doesn't mean I'm force feeding the child and giving him complexes you know, maybe just maybe some kids are good at eating and some aren't. I know loads of kids who were weaned on purees, most of which eat well too!! So BLW smuggos piss me RIGHT OFF. Sorry rant over, as I know there are smuggos about everything, but I have seen quite a lot of annoying smuggo BLW advocates on weaning threads on here too. And sorry I hope I have not offended anyone who does it on here with that, pd I am looking at you as I know I have annoyed you before on this subject!

Yeah I know about the food and milk and stuff. She's sleeping better, she interested in food, so I think it is going well. Can I ask did you ever go away with S when she was small and you were weaning her? We are going to scotland in April and with E I would have given him jars while we were away (which led to massive heartache when he would eat nothing else!). What would I feed her if I'm away? I guess we'd just wing it with some breadsticks and fruit supplemented with stuff we were having in pubs, etc?? This is what we'd do with E these days (and he would live on the fruit and breadsticks) but worried about salt content in pub food, etc.

jj we have the happy and screamy alternating thing as well. No "DON'T LIKE JIGSAWS"...."WANT DO JIGSAW". We had a screamy lie on the ground tantrum as he wanted to use helens pink cup, and the valve on it was annoying him, so I took it away. Bloody hell thought the world was ending!

Oh I forgot to send my love to spot in the last message. I don't know how you do it, and I have my fingers crossed everything will get better very soon.

EffiePerine · 24/02/2011 11:32

Summer: I didn't do strict Blw with the boys but both were not keen on being spoon fed so we ended up with lots of finger foods. I think it is easier in the long run, but right now you're probably fed up with perfectly good food being thrown around, smeared and trodden on rather than eaten!

Still no word from WG

Beans33 · 24/02/2011 11:55

I've heard that this is good for finger food for littlies.

Keeping everything crossed for baby people. Mine are both up a lot in the night at the moment, so am lurking.

OP posts:
zoejeanne · 24/02/2011 13:11

I'm lurking like crazy today - I hope WG and Jolly are both doing ok?

Artichokes · 24/02/2011 13:11

What a lovely day. It makes so much difference. The girls and I had a lovely morning swimming and then as we walked back through the park it was so gorgeous we decided to have an impromtu picnic so we nipped into the local Sainsburys and bought Kettle Chips, carrot sticks, guacamole and tzatiki and they thought all their christmases had come at once! DD1 kept saying "can you really just have crisps and dips for lunch? really really?" and I kept explaining that no, not usually, but just for special treats. DD2 looked very serious and then whispered very quietly "I really like special treats quite a lot". So sweet.

SL, neither of mine would be spoon fed much (except when DD2 developed an addiction to Ella's Kitchen fruit sachets and would eat nothing else). When traveling I took things like packs of pitta bread, dairylea, dried fruit, bananas and I also let them eat off my plate. I never really worried about salt. Maybe that was wrong but it just did not really occur to me.

Beans, sorry your nights are continuing to be bad. Can you make sure DH gives you a proper lie-in tomorrow?

I'm so excited about all these babies. Is this our last batch of preggos except Mom? Have I forgotten anyone?

JamInMyWellies · 24/02/2011 13:28

< pacing >

Beans33 · 24/02/2011 13:35

Oh Arti - that sounds like heaven! I want to do that with my two. But DD2 too little really and hates sleeping in her bloody pushchair. Grrr! Bring on the summer when she'll only be having one sleep a day and we can have fun picnics! Sounds blissful. DD1 had a cheese omelette and DD2 had Ella's Kitchen chicken thing. I am slummy mummy with packet food for DD2, but sod it, I haven't got time to cook all the time. Tonight she's having homemade fruity chicken. Promise.

We went to feed the ducks this morning, but stayed 15 mins too long and DD2 went into meltdown and I had a 20minute walk home with her screaming. Yikes.

DH letting me have a lie in on Sunday. YEEEHAH! Think he feels bad as has been invited to watch the rugby on Saturday afternoon and he's torn because he doesn't really want to leave us. I think he should go because it's a big match and would be amazing to be there. Hell, I'd go if I was offered tickets!

Right, house to clean!
