Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
spotofcheerfulness · 23/02/2011 08:42

Oh and I should have struck out stupid, now it sounds like that's what I'm calling you, Will get me coat.

V glad to hear Rubes is ok.

Artichokes · 23/02/2011 08:47

I am mucho jealous of Effie and Jam's late sleeping kids. My littlest monster arose at 5.10am. She NEVER does that when DH is home. She says she has a sore cheek so maybe it's teething.

Effie/Jam - I am so sorry but I think I'm going to wimp out. DD2 is going to be in a terrible mood if she doesn't get a good nap after that early wake and she won't nap in her pram anymore. And if she is teething then history suggests that trying to get her to do anything (sit in a buggy, not run off the Tube platform, not to bite babies etc) will be a nightmare. I know that's really flaky of me and Canary Wharf does sound fab but I feel a DVD day coming on. Luckily both DDs enjoy The Sound of Music and Annie at the mo.

EffiePerine · 23/02/2011 08:56

Arti: I was just about to wimp out too. DS1 crawled into bed with me at 8 and asked pathetically if we were staying at home today. But I would like to do a run to the Docklands at some point, so can we reschedule?

Jam: will be around this afternoon if you want to meet for a coffee - do you know where you will be? What about the Minories or Coffee Cube (near the park)?

EffiePerine · 23/02/2011 08:59

Spot: have no idea re the meds. Can you ring the doc to check? May e try posting on the wider MN, I bet there are lots of mums with experience of severe reflux. Sending lots of white light to you.

JamInMyWellies · 23/02/2011 09:01

No idea where ether of those places are Effie. If I go to CO I normally just park in one of the town center carparks and wander into town.

EffiePerine · 23/02/2011 09:09

Sorry! The Minories is a gallery with a coffee shop at the top of East Hill, down the hill from the tourist info place. Coffee Cube is on Museum Street, the little street between the big yellow estate agents on the High Street and the side gate to the park.

Artichokes · 23/02/2011 09:35

I just realised that my post acknowledging WG's post never posted IYSWIM! WG, sorry you are feeling low. I think it's a universal truth that second babies elicit much less attention from friends and even family. DD2 got half the birth cards, less than half the new born pressure and about a quarter of the visits to pay homage. I put it down to the fact that I had a smaller social circle after DD1, people knew I could cope with a baby, plus people were busy with their own kids. People still cared but it was all more low key. Thinking of you. I am a big fan of afternoon cinema as a lovely indulgence.

vagolaJahooli · 23/02/2011 10:55

If you do go to the Docklands museum when you get there ask for a ticket to 'mudlarks' its a lovely little kids area with a softplay for the really littlies. In the term break they have timed entry so you can get a slot that is after an hour of being at the museum or something and then take the kids there when its their slot. I have to say I've never been to the main part as we used to just go straight into mudlarks. DS1 & I used to meet friends there at least once a week, when we lived at CW.

We have the keys to the house. I'm the cold light of day it does need a new paint job but apart from that its pretty good for now, so we have one last push with the packing and then tomorrow the movers come.

My uncle George (friend uncle not real uncle) in NZ is fine which is wonderful news. I'm hoping the damage to their building and shop is not too horrendous, they have has a hard time recently, George has had some health problems, and their daughters DH left her just after their child was born. But at least they are all alive and well.

Right better go pack. DH is letting me have a little reprieve from packing as I have done the lion share so far but I'd better get on. This time tomorrow all this crap is going to be in the new place hooray.

Sybs, is bished a cross between, pissed and bushed.

vagolaJahooli · 23/02/2011 11:00

Oh flip I missed a whole page. I can't read it all now, but Spot. I would go back you have to keep on them, if you think the cocktail worked better then it might be better to go back to it. How long has he been on this dose?

WG meant to say I FB instant messaged you the other day, but didn't want to ask you how bump was as thought you might be sick if the question so asked you how the weather was instead! I think you went offline by the time u sent it.

JamInMyWellies · 23/02/2011 11:08

Vag whoop for the new house.

WG I also forgot to respond to your 2nd baby thing. When we had DS2 we had approx half the amount of cards pressies phonecalls visits etc.

I have decided to stay home and do nothing all day it is disgusting outside really vile.

vagolaJahooli · 23/02/2011 11:29

Hey WG I just found this that I thought might be good for you, DH & your Doula to read.

traceface · 23/02/2011 13:27

hi ladies.
haven't caught up and have a stroppy Phoeb on my knee, but just wanted to pass on a message from our JollyBear.
She has sent me a text - she's been admitted to hospital with pre-eclampsia because her BP has gone up and she has loads of protein in her wee. She's waiting to hear from the docs re what happens next, but it seems like MiniJolly will be here rather soon.
I'll let you know when I hear more from her, but for now I think prayers and white light would be valued Smile

EffiePerine · 23/02/2011 13:48

Thanks for letting us know Trace :). Best of luck to Jolly and baby Jolly :). Do you know how many weeks she is now?

waitinggirl · 23/02/2011 15:10

best of luck to jolly - i think she is 2-4 weeks behind me, isn't she?

vg - thx for the link - have just forwarded onto dh and doula - lovely uplifting reading, just what i need.

sybs - thank you for your kind offer to cheer me up - i had a relatively good night's sleep (only awake for 1.5 hours), had a lie in, a bath, a walk around muswell hill and a lovely lunch with myself in carluccio's. i may go back to bed now. apols to those of you who are struggling with half term, or with poorly babes (spot - you truly are superspot, even if you called me stupid and don't live in north london).

back to the waiting...

JamInMyWellies · 23/02/2011 18:44

Good Luck to Jolly and family!

Beans keep forgetting to ask, but how is your Dad and you Mother in law?

Rubena · 23/02/2011 19:31

Hello,
Have just skimmed through as I got the text from Vag and Lady (thanks) and I replied as soon as I got it when we landed so was probably flying Vag.
Thanks for concern we are all fine, and about 600 miles away in Auckland however turning on the telly in our hotel room on the 19th floor and watching the news was a little disconcerting!

We were in the US for the first 4 days. Flight over was hideous. DD had thrown up the night before and had a little nappy rash but I thought she was fine. It developed into the worst nappy rash I have ever seen and the poor girl screamed and trembled most of the flight Sad Changed her about 10 times as she had the runs and I discovered TWO teeth poking through together! Spent most of the time in San Diego trying to get her better and ended up using quite strong nappy rash cream and also cortizone cream and she has only now pretty much recovered. DS has been really out of sorts and quite tired. has the most hideous cough and did several more of his dive on the ground style tantrums over the past few days - one of which at LAX and several in the aisle of the plane Blush but all in all he wasn't as bad as I feared, and while he did scream bloody murder at being strapped in for takeoff and seatbelt sign on etc, he also played nicely for a bit too. He enjoyed hanging out with his 2nd cousin in the US - despite the fact she beats him up! We
heard about the earthquake driving en route to LAX and had to double check but our flight wasn't effected at all.
The flight to Auckland was completely different from the first and although longer (13 hours gulp) and ds had a total meltdown at the gate area (well it was 1130 pm poor boy was shattered) he behaved really well on the flight and slept the first 6 hours then played and did several laps of the aircraft, but I didn't mind as I'd been able to sleep the first half too! DD was much better and slept almost the entire flight in her skycot Grin Lucky, as we checked into our hotel and I went straight out that night to the Hens party while the 3 of them crashed out!
So nice to see my friend again and really glad we came.
Must go now as dh has just made scrambled eggs and then we are off to look around the area. We are here until Sunday then off to Cairns and my brothers house for a few days. My parents are travelling up there to meet us all.
Sorry that was long!
oooh heard back from Lady too and she is having a nice relaxing time at Sharm

traceface · 23/02/2011 20:23

hello again.
Jolly is 33 weeks today and is in Bolton hospital at the mo (her home one). It's looking likely that the baby will be born there, rather than Birmingham, so she's pleased about that:)
Glad to hear pubie is fine and that ladyt is chilling on her hols too.
WG sorry you're feeling a bit un-special. Sounds like you had a nice day in the end. And you know you are super-special to us and we're more than interested in how you are NOW as well as when dd2 is born.
spot you poor thing - I don't have any answers about severe reflux, but I would say don't be worried about going back to the Gp - it's what they're there for, and the wider MN might be helpful.
arti how long until dh gets back? Did you survive the day ok?
re potty training - P did well over hte weekend and monday, but then yesterday had 3 accidents at nursery, then today had 2 accidents this morning, so this afternoon I put a nappy on for her sleep but then left it on her for a couple of hours (lazy mummy), then she weed on the potty again once it was off. Is it normal to have quite a few accidents or should we try again in a month or so? I can't remember what to expect!
Had a mega headache today and also have one very ugly small red weepy eye, so think I might have an infection [yak] Everything is blurred!
SOrry not to do more personals (I'm always saying that at the moment).
bye for now x

waitinggirl · 23/02/2011 20:34

having the teensy tiniest crampy type feelings. i'm going to call them "les twinges" as if spoken in a french accent.

Artichokes · 23/02/2011 20:42

OMG, OMG, OMG WG!!! That is very exciting. Are they showing any sort of pattern? Have you told DH? Is R still with your Dad? Questions, questions, questions but mostly I just wish you luck. xxx

Trace - thanks for letting us know about Jolly. 33 weeks is still early but its beyond the magic 32 so that is good. Did she say whether she was feeling ill or whether its still all only showing up via test results? Sorry to hear about your eye by the way.

traceface · 23/02/2011 21:09

quick update from jolly
The drs have just confirmed they're delivering the baby tomorrow morning. Jolly is really nervous but is trusting that the Drs know best.

DeidreBarlow · 23/02/2011 21:09

Just a quickie from me to send lots of love to jolly. And WG if this is it good luck lovely!

Rubes glad your all well. The flights sounded like hell to me but I think your little travellers coped very well

Vag good luck with the move when are you in your new place!

sybilfaulty · 23/02/2011 22:05

Gosh, if this is it for WG then we might have 2 second babies on the same day! Jolly, huge love to you my darling, I know that this is early but you are following advice. We will all be thinking of you and sending love to you and your family tomorrow.

WG - get bouncing on that ball love!

Hello to everyone else. Am tired and a bit queasy so am off to bed.

Trace, I hope half term is going well and that you are finding things with L ok.

spotofcheerfulness · 23/02/2011 22:25

Ooh I am vv excited for you, WG, and your twaaanges. Can you please do a minute by minute blog for us?

Jolly if you get to lurk I am thinking of you and hope everything goes smoothly. On this one I guess you have to trust the docs and I'm glad you're in the place you feel most comfortable.

Rubes you sound remarkably chipper despite your hideous travel tales. You Aussies are so much better than us whingeing poms on the travelling front. And v glad you enjoyed the hen do.

Lady do we see the hint of a tan yet> How are the DDs shaping up on hols?

Trace than sounds v uncomfortable, maybe a trip to the docs in in order. On the potty training, I think what you're doing sounds v sensible. How are you doing in yourself at the moment?

Vag fingers crossed for the big move, I'm v impressed you've got it all together with the two boys at home. Did they help or just try and pack themselves in the boxes? And that's great news your uncle/friend is safe. DP's cousin lives in Christchurch but is fine too. There but for the grace...

My back is screwed after carrying the won't be put down baby all day and trying to do things with T while DS2 is in the Bjorn, like change a nappy or put him in his cot. I have a cloth sling a friend lent me but he much prefers the Bjorn, my to my dismay.

I went to the GP this morning, says we should go back on the Gaviscon and wait for the Omeprazole to kick in. Thing is he spits out a lot of it, so that's his only chance at medication, whereas at least with the cocktail he was on before he had a chance ever few hours at some relief. I think at the GP appt on Monday I will ask about upping the dosage so he stands a better chance of getting something in him.

It's absurd. We should move nearer the hospital to save on parking charges. In March alone we have: T - appointments with ENT consultant and respiratory guy. Then on other days DS2 will see ENT, SALT, Dietician and GI.

This is also a Very Good Reason (if such were needed) not to have another child. They would more than likely have the same stuff going on and I would go loopy.

DP off to Amsterdam at 5am tomorrow, hoping DS2 gives us a bit of kip tonight. He's also now got a cough and a cold c/o T so keeps waking himself up when he does get off to sleep.

Ooh, I think Katie will have her DC3 tomorrow as well, according to FB. It's all happening at once!

JamInMyWellies · 23/02/2011 22:38

Ooh how exciting 3 new babies! Grin

waitinggirl · 23/02/2011 22:45

well, les twinges are sort of becoming stronger. a bit like period pains - i can't say it's that obvious when one starts and stops, like contractions, though. sometimes it's obvious, sometimes not. so so different to last time where we started with a wham bam thank you mam.

my lovely doula is at a big glitzy do tonight - she already texted me to say she wasn't drinking and had packed a spare set of clothes. hilarious.

i've taken paracetamol - might dig out the tens machine. i just want some sleep, really. bugger.

any advice, lovely ladies?
