Shiny new thread for Christmas!

Hey, Meglet, you are quoted TWICE in the talk roundup newsletter! Well on your way to mumsnet royalty. I salute you (but without genuflecting as the bump is way too enormous).

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 21/01/2011 16:06

Lol at swipe, I think you could mean sweep pacita, however I have to say that ime a swipe more than adequately covers how it feels Grin

Some dilation and 50% effaced is great news Smile

I have been sorting out baby clothes today, it's my way of making me feel organised. I'm only 26 weeks but I realised I have done nothing. I also added some huge sanitary towels and breast pads to my online shopping order to help me feel even smugger Grin

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 21/01/2011 16:08

Oh yes, I also meant to say Pacita, lots of good pokey sex and an earth shattering orgasm tonight may help things along Grin

pacita · 21/01/2011 16:11

LOL, sorry, yes, sweep! You just make me think of this image of the MW inserting her credit card up my fanjo (wont get much cash, mind).

You are being remarkably organised, ILTMIMI. I only packed my hospital bag and bought maternity pads 2 weeks ago!

Are you having boy or girl?

pacita · 21/01/2011 16:15

PS: we have indeed tried eviction sh*gging. I can't report earth shattering orgasms, unfortunately. I am an unwieldy beach ball, and I think DP felt a bit like a prostaglandin dispenser...Blush

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 21/01/2011 16:24

Lol at credit card swipe! That saying always reminds me of how my friend explained how she cleans her little girls genitalia when she's done a poo. Very apt I thought!

We're having another boy Grin

I think I'n trying to be organised with the baby stuff to balance the lack of progression on the extension. I can control washing clothes, but not how fast the extension goes!

Eviction shagging is an especially good idea after a sweep. Tell dh he has to step up to the plate Grin

CappuccinoCarrie · 21/01/2011 16:26

Sorry there's still no baby pacita and with your parents having to go home too :(

mrsa hope you have a fun weekend Grin, we know what you and pacita will both be up to!

ninja hope your weekend isn't too bad either, ROFL at the idea I'd ever be feeling sad that I couldn't exercise!

becaroo · 21/01/2011 16:57

pacita The credit card swipe idea has made me chuckle Grin

Meglet · 21/01/2011 20:55

bookmarking, about to eat dinner, gnocchi in tomato & mascarpone sauce and some garlic bread.. followed by home-made Nigellas molten chocolate babycakes (from domestic goddess) and ice cream.

Grin
digitalgirl · 21/01/2011 21:39

Grin Shall we do a sweepstake (or should that be swipestake) for when pacita will drop? I say Sunday.

We have a packed weekend. Friends for lunch tomorrow. I've been wanting to make a lasagne for ages, so that's what they're getting. The meat sauce has been made and will marinate overnight so it will be even yummier tomorrow. And I'm doing a choice of lemon meringue AND rasberry and white choc tartlets from Ottolenghi's book. Have even made the pastry [smug].

Some good news. Got a brief 'ALL FINE' from the consultant today on my clotting test results. Which is good. So we're just waiting on the chromosome test results which I'm 99.9% sure will come back normal too.

mrsA That's really interesting about your friends not planning on ttc yet. I'm the last in my M&B group of friends to have #2 Sad.

In my NCT group there are two women who are sticking with one for age reasons (they're both in their 40's), so I know if I never manage to have another I won't be the only one I know with one child. One of my best friends has a 1 year old. We were ttc when DS was 1 so I was worried that I'd have to start dealing with pg announcements from friends with DC younger than DS. But she told me that she's not planning on trying for another this year. She's the same age as me and it was very easy for her to conceive her DS so I imagine she doesn't feel the pressure to start soon.

On a completely different topic, DS is addicted to all things electronic: laptop, my iPhone, Leapster... I am a bad mum for enabling this addiction aren't I? Although he has learnt to recognise the word 'Play' in books and when out and about, on top of numbers, letters and family names. So it is sort of getting on the road to reading. We also read to him every night, so we're not completely neglectful.

DebiTheScot · 21/01/2011 21:44

I say she'll go into labour on Saturday just as her parents leave.

Your dinner sounds yummy meglet

I'm a proud mummy today. DS1 looked fab as Wally today (photo on profile) and then we got a letter saying he's been put on the G&T register for his reading Smile so I'm having a G&T to celebrate Grin

Meglet · 21/01/2011 22:02

digi Pleased to hear your results are ok. I'm impressed to know you made pastry, I have given up on making it and just buy a ready made packet of the stuff Blush.

Well done to your DS debi. Does that mean your DS1 can read books already?

pacita · 21/01/2011 22:37

I like the idea of the swipestake Grin, Digi. At this point, I'll refrain from making any bets, as I am sadly resigned to the fact that nature will take its course.

Despite all the sweeping (and swiping), still no contractions. I've been out and about, cooked a nice dinner for my parents' last night in London (albeit not as delicious as meglet's), put Diego to bed (who was intent on being a monkey), and am about to harass my DP for sex. All in all I feel absolutely fine and full of beans, better than I felt the whole of this last month of pregnancy. Go figure.

I'll keep you posted!

PS today it has been suggested to me to sit on the washing machine to induce labour. Just thought I'd share Hmm

pacita · 21/01/2011 22:44

Oh, and Digi, those are great results. I think feeling relaxed about things being how they should be, together with lots of sex, will probably produce the required results!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/01/2011 09:23

Lots of hurrah's needed here.

Hurrah for Digi's test results.
Hurrah for Debie's ds1
Hurrah for making own pastry - I can never be arsed.

Lol at swipestake Grin

Digi - I'm sure you are sick to the bloody back teeth of people saying 'have you tried xyz', but I was reading an article recently that made me think of you. A lady had multiple unexplained miscarriages, she then had various blood tests and found out that she had high levels of killer cells. Great for keeping horrible conditions/illness' at bay, but not so great when trying to carry a baby to term. If the condition is diagnosed it can be treated with immuno-suppressants. Just thought I would mention it.

RMCW · 22/01/2011 14:34

just trying out my new nickname...its becaroo by the way!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/01/2011 17:13

Hi RMCW, what does it stand for? I first read it at YMCA??!!!

I have just been on FB and seen a picture of a very new newborn Smile Congratulations Pacita xxx

digitalgirl · 22/01/2011 20:05

Congratulations pacita!! Must stalk on fb.
Birth story when you're ready! (I never tire of those)

iltmimi Actually not many people have mentioned NK Cells, but I have looked into it. People seem to think i just need to 'relax' or 'not think about it so much', as though the fact that im worried about miscarrying is causing it, but that's another thread altogether! I asked my nhs consultant about the nk cells tests and I get the impression that not many nhs docs support that theory. The current thinking is that the risk of taking steroids in pregnancy outweighs the potential benefits (unless you have an auto-immune condition like asthma).
So if were to investigate that we'd have to go private. I looked into some initial costs and it would be about £650 for initial consultation, tests, follow up consultation. And then if discovered I'd be looking at potentially more costs for a treatment programme.
DH and I have talked about it. I sway between wanting to be completely confident that we've ruled out everything to wanting to give my body one last chance before we go that route (especially as it would mean risks of developing GD).

Rmcw ....Really Mad Child Wrangler?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 22/01/2011 20:11

Huge congrats Pacita Gorgeous photo on fb. Even in a few yrs how things have changed and you can post photos within an hour of giving birth. Yay.

DebiTheScot · 22/01/2011 20:14

oooooooo how exciting! Gutted that I'm not her friend and can't see photo. Congratulations pacita did she make it before your parents left? And must have been fast work getting a photo on fb!

DebiTheScot · 22/01/2011 20:17

In pacita's profile photo is there sunloungers?

CappuccinoCarrie · 22/01/2011 20:36

Hooray for pacita!! Such cute photos, can't wait for the birth story!
Hope you had a nice G&T debi Grin

Too busy eating Galaxy counters to type properly Blush.

Debs75 · 23/01/2011 09:34

I'm a bit behind the times as usual.
Congratulations Pacita

Robyn is sat 'babysitting' Lucy so I can finally catch up. Good news on the results Digi

So next Wednesday is nursery day, 1 hour at 10am then 2 hours Thursday. Am starting to get a bit scared but looking forward to it as well.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/01/2011 09:45

debi - yep, Pacita is the FB pic with sunloungers in.

Those Galaxy Counters are the business aren't they Meglet?

That sounds like a nice gentle start to nursery debs, good luck Smile Let us know how it goes.

I'm glad you took what I said in the manner it was meant Digi, lot's of people are well meaning but it can be very annoying a lot of the time can't it?
