Shiny new thread for Christmas!

Well, I tackled my dsis (not literally!) about my dnephews playing COD.

Dont think she was very happy about me pointing out what a violent unsuitable game it was for a 5 and 7 year old but dont think they will be playing it again so I'm glad I did.

I think I did it in a respectful way. She is, for all intents and purposes, a single parent and I think she does a good job all things considered, but its her decision to put up with the siutation with BIL and I dont feel as sorry for her as I used to.

Trying to get Toby in a better sleeping pattern and to sleep earlier at night and so far on day 1 and 2 its taken 45-50 mins to get him to sleep Sad We then take him into his own room/bed but he always ends up back in with me Smile Oh well.

pacita · 11/01/2011 13:01

I think you did the right thing confronting your sister, becaroo. Hope she takes it in the spirit in which you meant it.

Well, now that I'm feeling human again, Diego goes and develops a fever and an ear infection. He has spent all night screaming for mamá and saying it hurt. Took him to the GP today who prescribed antibiotics...

I am worried that the baby will be coming any minute now into a den of germs and disease! Help!

becaroo · 11/01/2011 14:52

oh pacita I feel for you!

When I was in early labour with Toby ds1 got sent home from school because he had had a nasty bang on his head - I honestly thought he might have concussion and had visions of me on the labour ward and him in A&E!!!

(He was fine btw!)

AFAIK Ear infections are INCREDIBLY hard to "catch" - it is more likely that A has had a virus and thats whats caused the ear infection. Dont think the new baby will "catch" it.

How long have you got to go now?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/01/2011 17:04

Poor Diego, hopefully the AB's will be doing their job and ds will start feeling better tomorrow, and maybe even by tonight.

I have no idea if it is true, but I have often heard that a woman won't go into labour when they are ill or overly tired. For your sake I hope this is true!

Good luck for the new sleep time tonight Bec. If it's any consolation, ds's sleep is a bit all over the show at the moment. He needs to sleep for another hour or so in the morning, but for some reason is waking up early. I do wonder if starting pre-school has something to do with it - it's a huge step for him.

Talking of pre-school, it was M's second session today and it went well again - much the same as last week. I am very relieved Smile

One of my friends is in labour...eeeek!

How exciting!

Do you get anxious when a friend/loved one is in labour? I do, I feel quite anxious for them Blush

pacita · 11/01/2011 18:29

thanks for the kind words ladies. Becaroo I'm due next tuesday, but the moment my parents land on Saturday, and whilst right now I'm crossing my legs fiercely, I may embark on curry eating, pineapple chomping and shagging to bring it on!

Exciting, Carrie! Let us know how it goes.

Smile carrie well done your friend. Enjoy the cuddles.
A friend of mine who lives in Gibraltar was due to have a c-sec on Monday. They ended up having to go to Marbella to have it but we haven't heard anything from them yet about it. Her husband said he'd email as soon as he could but as they're all away from home I guess he hasn't got any internet access as none of their friends here (well the ones i know anyway) have heard anyhting.

DebiTheScot · 12/01/2011 11:09

argh, I'm in a double lesson (finishes at 12.25), my class are doing a test for the next hour and I'm desperate for a wee!

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/01/2011 13:32

Oh dear debi hope you survived! Pelvic floors!!!
My friend is home, gonna pop in at hers for some baby sniffing this afternoon!

pacita · 12/01/2011 13:58

LOL debi. hope you kept it in. I certainly couldn't have! Just been to the midwife: baby 3/5 engaged!

becaroo · 12/01/2011 16:33

ooohhhh...exciting pacita!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/01/2011 16:47

I hope you had a sniff for me Carrie! DH is addicted to the newborn smell, although he's not fussed if it's a puppy or human Grin

Hurrah for 3/5 engaged. Subsequent babies often don't engage anymore than that I think.

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/01/2011 17:35

Just sniffed and snuggled 15 hour old baby, so small and cute and gorgeous!
Great stuff pacita :)

..its the hair for me.

Baby hair.

Its all soft and downy and smells divine.

Sigh.

I made it to the loo! Was hard work though!

DebiTheScot · 12/01/2011 22:28

I just texted this to a good friend's brother "Would be good to ho regularly again" Shock
I'm mortified and in stitches! I meant go. We were discussing going climbing next week!

Meglet · 12/01/2011 23:06

LOL debi. Extra cash? Wink.

Is that your iphone? They seem to have very over-enthusiastic predictive text functions.

pacita · 13/01/2011 10:19

LOL Debi - did you send one of those "eeeek!" explanatory texts afterwards?

Diego is feeling a lot better and I've sent him to nursery. They will take care of giving him the ABs at lunch time. I feel tired and headachey because a) i must have peed about 10 times last night, and b) they must have changed the flightpath of city airport and I've had a fleet of planes only narrowly avoiding my roof. What the hell?

I think I'm having one of those grumpy pregnant days, so it's a good thing man and boy are away, rather than in my sphere of grumpyness.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/01/2011 10:43

Join the club Pacita. I've was a right old miserable cow this morning, no wonder ds was running all the way to pre-school Blush

Lol at debi calling herself a ho!

becaroo · 13/01/2011 10:49

Hi,

Quick question re: the swine flu jab?

Both my dc had it last year - do they need it every year like the seasonal flu vaccine or was one vaccine it?

Sorry - am so dense about this!
