Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

D has totally gone off solids yesterday and today, and had a fever this morning - doc says just a cold but he is very sad and just want breastfeeds (hopefully not all night!) He actually slept well last night cos he was ill. He went down at 7pm, refused his dreamfeed and went through till 4am! Then till 7.30.

Marzi, i tried cutting down his feeds in the night and it did seem to work but then on about the third night I was so tired I let him have both breasts again cos I was so desperate for him to sleep till morning! So you have to be willing to see that one through cos it could take lots of nights. Leaving to re-settle without a feed is better for us (short sharp shock treatment!).

thedogwalker · 10/03/2011 19:31

Hi all

Neenz Hope D gets better soon.

I took Thomas for his first swim yesterday and he loved it, we were there for an hour in the water. so glad I took him, will make it a weekly occurance now.

Well I've had notification from work and I'm moving back to England next month, so part of my maternity leave will be taken up with the move, but I will be glad to be back in the UK, sadly, DH has to stay out here for another year. Not happy about that at all, but there is nothing we can do about it. Just worried he is going to miss so much of Thomas's growing up.

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep tonight. Take care xx

neenz · 10/03/2011 19:39

The annabel karmel website has a few recipes on that have been a success here. Click on 6-9 months in left hamd column

neenz · 10/03/2011 19:40

dogwalker are you in Belgium now or am I mixing you up with someone else? Where in England will you move to?

thedogwalker · 10/03/2011 20:38

Nennz, I live in Germany, but there was a girl on our ante natal thread who was living in Belgium. I'm moving to Bulford in Wilthshre, already checked out the local swimming pool, which does baby swim classes on a Saturday, yipee.

I am glad I am moving back to the UK I've been abroad for too long now, but I just wish I could have had more notice.

CherryPie3 · 11/03/2011 02:39

Hey ho...

Hate the 2:30 feeds!! I simply do not feel alive right nowand nor do I look it Grin

Thanks for the recipe ideas, we had omelettes today :). Will check out the AK website tomorrow later today.

neenz I promise I'm not a stalker!! I was rblong aimlessly around eBay whilst feeding Corey and came across the listing that way. I definitely DO NOT email random sellers wondering if I know them lol. That one simply had to be you!

Best go, my brain is not working properly yet [confused ]

Xxxx

CherryPie3 · 11/03/2011 02:40

rambling

CherryPie3 · 11/03/2011 02:41

Oh neenz, I think it was NichyNoo that was in Belgium x

Chulita · 11/03/2011 06:28

thedogwalker my DH was in Bulford for a while, he quite liked it. Before my time though so I can't comment. Sucks that your dh isn't coming back with you though.

cherrypie One day C won't do the 2am feeds and you'll miss them! and get crazily broody--

OP posts:
neenz · 11/03/2011 12:56

haha I don't think I have ever missed middle of the night feeds! Daniel is still doing well - going from 10pm to 4.30am but he is ill atm so maybe that is helping him sleep. Still not eating much solids though he had half an oatibix with milk and pear for his tea last night (after refusing cod/potato/cheese concoction).

i dont think you are a stalker Cherry! I have delisted the pram cos someone offered me £350 cash for it so no ebay fees Smile.

morsbagmum · 11/03/2011 14:14

neenz I hope D is better soon.

dogwalker I hope all goes well with the move.

soontobefatnat I hope the time with your guests goes well - I've found the beauty of living in a two bedroomed house is that you can't have people to stay Grin, but we are lucky enough to have all our family close by.

Chulita I hope you have a great break away.

Weaning does anybody have any quick/ easy recipes using beans /lentils? and do you use tinned or dried?

Miss Evie and I have just had great fun playing with salt dough - she loved squashing it through her fingers, and was squealing laughing... after much squashing and mess we I rolled it out and attempted made some hand prints, which are now in the oven drying out....

sleep Miss Evie has been constantly rolling onto her front when she is going to sleep or having her nap, she doesn't have cot bumpers (just a breathable cot wrap), but she can't roll herself back.... does anybody else's dc do this? and if yes, do you leave them on their fronts?

CherryPie3 · 11/03/2011 15:05

Good lord I just read my last post back Blush Grin

chulita 'fraid I'm already at that 'crazy broody' stage. Dh not budging :(. it's early days of begging discussions though :). Hope you enjoy trip away :)!

dogwalker how utterly crap that your dh can't come back with you! Hope the move goes smoothly for you :) xx

neenz great news about the pram!!

mors how did the handprints turn out? Wrt rolling onto front, C doesn't do it but my ds1 did, in the end we started pitting him down to nap on his front - he slept much better/easier from then on x

Wanna know what just landed on my doorstep......mumsnets guide to pregnancy I am not obsessed , I am not obsessed Grin. To be fair, I thought I had ordered the babies guide, clearly not! Fate perhaps? Wink

Have a lovely lovely day peeps xxx

bellygazing · 11/03/2011 20:05

neenz sorry Daniel is poorly, hope he gets better soon.
thedogwalker I echo what the others said - great to be back in the UK but rubbish your DH can't join you.
morsbagmum The other night when E woke for a feed at 2ish she was on her front doing press ups in the cot... don't know if she rolled and it woke her, or she woke, got bored with me not coming immediately and then rolled. So far just a one off.
cherry Can't believe the broodiness! Pretty sure we will have another but not for a while - too much of E to enjoy at the mo.

E has cried at bedtime the last two nights Sad just 5 mins last night and 10 tonight but I still really hate hearing her cry. Think I'm a bit off-colour - everything is making me well up at the moment (know this is a common side-effect of parenthood but this has only been the last couple of weeks), have been really tired despite theoretically getting more sleep, really struggling to drop off in the evening, headaches and also lots of sneezing.

On the plus side, E is so nearly crawling - she will be on the move any day now I reckon.

morsbagmum · 11/03/2011 20:11

bellygazing hope you're feeling better soon, look after yourself.

cherrypie We did two handprints, one turned out ok the other looks like Miss Evie just has 3 fingers as I didn't press her little finger down hard enough - DH said it was her Simpsons print - typical - they survived the oven and no bubbles appeared so I think I'm going to paint it with some acrylic paint for nana....

Hope everybody has a good night.

morsbagmum · 11/03/2011 20:13

OMG just read my last post back and I sound like one of those really annoying uber competitive crafty mums who write a blog about their perfect dc's who all wear beautiful home sewn clothes.... Blush, I'm not at all like that.... promise!

bellygazing · 12/03/2011 10:11

Stop press - Elodie slept through for the first time ever last night, from 7.30am to about 7.15am (and I got her up because my boobs were about to explode).

Must go, off to see SIL and BIL.

CherryPie3 · 12/03/2011 11:13
Grin

Whoop whoop Belly!!! Hooray for E's first sleep-thru :). Hope you're feeling better!

Mors I didn't think you sounded annoying at all!! How do you make salt dough? And what temp to you 'bake' it at? I quite fancy doing that with my 3 darlings as they love anything remotely messy! :). They make a great keepsake I imagine, so twas a fab idea, thanks!!

Today is the 3rd anniversary of my dads death, :(, so last night when dh got home we drove to the place where we sprinkled his ashes and fastened some white tulips to the fence. Had to drive for 90mins to get there but glad we did as I don't feel as sad today. This is the first year I've actually acknowledged he's gone! Since the horrid day we scattered his ashes I haven't been back so it was a huge thing for me to do. Especially as in 4 weeks time my mother will be marrying someone else!! Hmm. Not too happy about that but it's her life. The thing that really winds me up is she wants my kids to call her new fella 'Grandad'. She's very angry and upset that I've said no way - do u think I'm wrong?

In other news... Corey still has not done the 7-7 sleep-thru again...I think maybe cos he's having a proper nap in the daytime now? He's just fallen asleep now and will probably stay asleep til 1:30-2pm, is this too long do u think?

The gardeners are here today to finally fit my new fence in the back garden, have waited years for this! We've never had the money so am very chuffed that it's finally happening :). Busy weekend actually as tomorrow there's a chap coming to finish fitting the iron fence on the driveway - why is it you wait sooooo ling for things to get done then suddenly it all just happens? If I could only get dh to get the kitchen and bathroom finished!! Am I asking too much? Grin]

Off to start dinner.... Have a nice Saturday everyone xxx

CherryPie3 · 12/03/2011 11:16

Long*

CherryPie3 · 12/03/2011 13:37

Everyone must be very busy today....

CherryPie3 · 12/03/2011 16:37

Very very busy Confused

morsbagmum · 12/03/2011 17:56

Bellygazing long may it continue, fingers crossed for tonight.

Cherrypie ... long ramble re The salt dough -it was really easy to make - 1 cup of plain flower, 1 cup of salt and 1/2 (half) cup of water... mix it all together and give it a bit of a knead... you can also add food colouring if you wish.... roll out to a even level.. and cut out to the desired shape.. I cut round a small bowl,(I rolled it out onto a sheet of greaseproof paper as it's a bit sticky)... make hand / foot print into the surface.... transfer to a baking sheet on the greaseprrof paper and cook for 2 to 3 hours at 100oC... you can let it air dry but it will take a few days.... If you want to hang it up put a hole in the top (to thread ribbon through later) by using a drinking straw before baking .
I'm going to paint mine with acrylic paint, last Christmas I made these with my nephews we used christmas shaped cutters and we decorated them after with paint, pva glue and glitter and they hung them from the tree... but they are older (2 and 7)... let me know how you get on Smile.

It is quiet on here today.. everybody must be up to something more exciting...

Re the grandad - I wouldn't like either, dh's step is referred to by his Christian name so its nana and x... but I know others who are quite happy to use grandad, you should do what you feel comfortable with, I'm sure your mum will understand.

CherryPie3 · 12/03/2011 19:31

Thank you for the salt dough instructions, sounds easy enough (in theory)! Will try them tomorrow!! :)

You're right, it does sound much as though everyone is having an exciting day, I've been ironing...hence the regular visits back to the thread Grin

Chulita · 12/03/2011 20:21

cherry I think I'd find that odd too re grandad. Maybe you could find some other name that's not got any associations for you (like Gramps or something).

bellygazing hurrah! fantastic for you both Grin I hope you get many, many more long restful nights and of course I'm not remotely Envy

morsbagmum I might give that a go too, I've got loads of painted handprints up on the wall but clay-ish ones sound great!

OP posts:
bellygazing · 12/03/2011 20:34

morsbagmum think I might nick your salt dough idea too! Would love to have some teeny handprints.

cherry sounds like it was a really therapeutic thing for you to do. I think it's totally up to you re the granddad thing - I think if it was me I would very much want granddad to refer to my father but whatever makes you most comfortable. Re your naps - I aim for 3 hours in total during the day, usually 2 hours in the morning and one in the afternoon, sometimes an hour and a half each but they're all different aren't they! I haven't found that daytime sleep seems to affect E's nighttime sleep much but I know for some babies it does make a huge difference. Sorry, not very helpful.

We've been out visiting the in-laws which was great - E on top form. But she had somewhat random naps and had a bit of a meltdown at bathtime (although went down with no tears after a fairly fervent breastfeed). Think it might have been slightly my fault - I decided not to breastfeed her after her last nap (just solids) because she keeps refusing her bottle at bedtime and I thought if she was hungry for milk she might take it. But in the event she was so distressed post bath I didn't even bother offering her the bottle as I didn't want to upset her further.

Altho E did her amazing sleeping through last night unfortunately I did not - slept really badly and feel knackered. Sending sleepy thoughts to all!

CherryPie3 · 13/03/2011 13:02

hey all..

It's chaos in my house/garden again! The gardeners are back to finish the fence, the iron workers came this morning to finish my driveway - it looks finished! Finally :)

Trying to cook dinner, not bothering with a roast today - it's far too busy! So am cooking toad in the hole instead, so I can still make sure the kids are getting some veg down today. We're having brocolli and sliced carrot batons.

Belly Yeah it was very therapeutic! Glad E behaved for you and you had a lovely day. And hope you got a better nights sleep?

Might go peruse the July thread... (not deserting you btw, just very quiet on here).

Love to all xxx
