Fenouille · 26/02/2011 15:08

Ooh, like a bain marie? Mmm, I could cook up some chocolate sauce at the same time :)

Rinnyx · 26/02/2011 15:57

Only started Isaac on none milk food today and I have had to already give him a 2nd portion with a bottle of milk, he has his dads appetite Grin

mumcha · 26/02/2011 18:49

if any1 wants a nosy some pics of my kids on my profile

smokeybacon · 27/02/2011 12:13

Cute pics mumcha! I had a nosy.

I couldn't actually tell you how old the DTs are! Have lost track of weeks. Is it 15 or 16?

Freddie is now sleeping through (yay) but Tobias is still waking for a feed anytime between 3 and 5 am. But I'm sure it won't be long now .

My weaning plan is to do what I did with DS2 and thats the baby led route. Spoon feeding two babies fills me with dread and horror over how much time that would take and as BLW was so successful with DS2, thats what I will do with the DTs. I will prob wait till 6 months too can'tbearsedbeforethen.

Has anyone heard from comtessa? She seems to have gone quiet and she's usually so chatty on here. Hope she's ok.

smokeybacon · 27/02/2011 12:13

Oh. My crossing out didn't work v well did it?

Pidgin · 27/02/2011 17:44

Hope everyone's had a good weekend.

Fenouille my DS, Ned, won't take a bottle either and I've had some success with a Doidy cup, you can get them on Amazon (would link but am on phone). They are easier for small babies as they are slanted, so you don't have to tip them as far. Might be worth a go if the sippy cup doesn't do te trick?

Plenty hair loss here too! Am looking forward to when DS can go a whole afternoon without me and I can go and have it cut, coloured and de-frizzed... He won't take formula and I haven't been able to express much so far, so haven't left him on his own much yet - I am borrowing a hospital-grade pump this week though, hoping that will help. Anyone got any expressing tips?

Lainey1981 · 27/02/2011 18:07

Hi everyone,

pidgin hair loss still continuing here. I went to hairdressers yesterday for a cut which was bliss. but they couldn't fit me in for highlights so roots are here to stay for a couple more weeks at least.

Not sure what you've tried re expressing but heard can be useful to express from oneside while feeding from the other, as can stimulate letdown reflex. I only bf for 3 weeks so defo not an expert.

Also re formula, if you would like Ned to take it (eventually) you could try mixing a bit with expressed milk, then gradually change quantities so more formula than ebm, eventually being totally forumla. Think this will helo him get accustomed to the taste, if and when you might want to try.

Went out last night and had such a fun night. Had dinner and wine with a friend first, then met up with all the girls for cocktails after. Lovely. So nice to just be 'me' for abit , though did miss Finn a lot.

He had a scary accident this morning. Dp was changing him on wooden drawers/ changing unit in bedroom and went to put nappy in bin, all we heard was Finn cry. Somewhow the changing part on top broke off sending him tumbling to the ground. Felt so sick and upset, but luckily after a bit of a cry he was fine and has been his normal happy self all day.
Bless Dp he thinks it's fault that he didn't put it together properly( from ikea) so took it apart and added more screws etc today. He was so pale.

Am sure it won't be the last mishap, but still frightening.

Fenouille · 27/02/2011 18:17

Hi pidgin thanks for the tip. The sippy cup is better but still not a big success so I'll order a Doidy cup and see what that does. Norry has had a pretty runny tummy all weekend so don't know if CM will take him tomorrow anyway :( Argh, it was all going so well up to now.

pidgin When I express I start with a massage (saw a description saying do it like you would check for lumps) and then very gently run my finger tips down toward the nipple. While I'm expressing if I have the impression the flow is slowing down I reposition the funnel (if that's the right word) and/or do another quick massage. Good luck (and if it doesn't work, and the Doidy cup doesn't work for us, I've got a massive stock of frozen milk you can have :( )

Rinny Isaac sounds like he's enjoying his foray into solids :) and mumcha your children are lovely!

Babybean1 · 27/02/2011 19:11

lainey thats awful! Did it break or just come apart? I'd be marching back to ikea! Glad Finn is ok tho & you were able to have a nice eve out :)

Mibby · 27/02/2011 20:18

lainey glad you had a good time, I didnt go in the end, came down with DD's bug late on Friday, have spent most of the weekend feeling awful.

Shock about the changing unit tho, must have been v v scary, glad Finn is ok now

Ive started losing my hair too Sad, seems to be loads in the plughole after a shower and on my hair brush.

Lovely pics mumcha

pidgin best tip i can offer for expressing is to relax (difficult I know), don't keep checking to see what you've got and make sure the room is nice and warm. HTH

mumcha · 27/02/2011 20:40

Thanx for the nice comments ,Just to let you know i didnt call 2 of my boys after Jamie Oliver Grinas someone asked me today lol.

b00kw0rm · 27/02/2011 20:50

vix I'm not losing hair, but James now looks like an old man with only fluff left on top and a ring of hair round the back!

James has been suffering with a cough and cold for nearly a week now, so we've been coping with a clingy baby this week. Also been struggling with getting him to take a bottle- after chat with DD's nursery worker, she suggested 8-16 weeks is the key time to introduce it and to try MAM bottles, which we did with some success, but he's now completely lost interest again since he's been ill... so I despair of ever being able to leave him for long.
But in better news I did pass my driving test Grin !!

Mibby · 27/02/2011 21:17

Well done B00kw0rm :)

umf · 27/02/2011 22:19

mumcha no flaming here either. Will start solids at 17 weeks this time - 5.5 months was way too late with DS1. I've let Rocky mumble a bagel and suck yoghurt and potato from fingers already. He's very interested in food (distinctly miffed when the rest of us are eating and he doesn't get any), and seems so insatiably hungry on just milk now, even with some ff added to the bfing. He's big - 66cm long, which is like 98th percentile, but has come a long way down the chart for weight, so long and quite slim now. So I reckon he'll be wanting that food.

lainey eek!

b00kw0rm congratulations!

hair going here too. sniff.

tomorrow is Rocky's gym creche induction! I feel a bit bad about leaving him at only 3 months, but have had so many problems with hips and back this pg that really have to get stretched and exercised.

bunnygirl80 · 27/02/2011 23:15

pidgin I find expressing after I've had a warm shower seems to help, and I always get loads more if I do it in the morning.

bookworm congratulations!!

DH isn't happy with me after we went out for lunch yesterday and Will stole a chip off my plate and I let him suck it Grin Told him that my Annabel Karmel book says potato is a good first food.....I think she means pureed rather than deep fried though Grin

OP posts:
Fenouille · 28/02/2011 11:21

Well done bookworm!
Hope you're feeling better soon mibby
lainey that must have been very scary, glad Finn sufferered no ill effects.
Arf at mumcha's friend
Hope the creche intro goes well umf. I'm sure Rocky will enjoy himself with the other children

We've had a pretty bad night here. Norry and DH both have D (no V so far thank goodness) and Norry woke every hour until 6 am :( Had to cancel CM today as well. As we're still on introductory sessions unless N gets better quickly it looks like I'll have to delay starting work next week. I suppose he got it from one of the other children at the CM but if he can get it over with now he'll be fit for the rest of the Winter season

And I don't know if it's the illness related but N has suddenly started getting quite distressed if he can't see me. Is anyone else finding this? I thought that started much later?

Rinnyx · 28/02/2011 15:33

Yay congrats on your driving test b00kw0rm you got any tips?
I have finally rebooked mine and taking it in April

comtessa · 28/02/2011 19:03

Hello all (waves to Smokey - saw your post further up) good grief we're onto the weaning talk already! I don't know where the time goes and I can't blame sleepless nights as Anya (touch wood...) sleeps really well.

Exciting times here, Anya rolled over for the first time yesterday. She went from her back to her front in a very steady, lets-just-see-how-this-goes kind of way. DH was upstairs and came running down when I called him to say that she'd rolled over and he was disappointed to have missed it. We put her on her back and she very obligingly rolled onto her front again. Such a daddy's girl. Grin

Congratulations on passing your test b00kw0rm!

So nice to read all the posts and catch up on how all the other November babies are going. Anya's three months old this Saturday and I'm looking into changing the carrycot on the pram chassis for the buggy part instead already as her head control's improving all the time.

Have a great time at the gig Mibby - who are you seeing and where?

hmmSleep · 28/02/2011 20:03

All these rolling babies! What is Lottie playing at? Glad I'm not on the October post-natal thread where I should be else I'd be worrying! I like to think she's just watching and taking it all in and will suddenly surprise me Hmm.

It was my eldest's 5th birthday yesterday, can't believe I have a 5 yr old, we had a bouncy castle party with 28 children, now that was scary!

Congratulations on passing your driving test bookworm!

That must have been a stomach turning moment lainey, glad Finn's OK.

Sorry to hear Norry's poorly and still not taking his bottle Fenouille, I have friends with the constant nightmare of having to take time off work when their children are poorly, must make life very difficult. I'm hoping my Mum will have retired by the time I return to work and be able to step in in such situations!

bunnygirl80 · 01/03/2011 08:17

Rolling is soooooo the developmental milestone of last week. While DH was making dinner this evening I was holding Will in a sitting position on the breakfast bar so he could see what was going on. He pulled himself forwards and put his hands down for support so I let go of him to see what would happen........well he sat completely unsupported for well over a minute before gently toppling sideways Grin

hmm 28 children at a party Shock Hope it wasn't too chaotic

fen hope Norry's feeling better soon. Will has started only wanting me when he's tired, even DH has trouble putting him down for a nap now, but he's happy to be entertained by whoever happens to be passing the rest of the time

Lainey1981 · 01/03/2011 09:26

I think Finn is going to be like me a late mover. Tis so funny when he is on his tummy he moves his arms and legs frantically face down but gets nowhere [cruel laughing mum emoticon]

Hearing him giggle when being tickled and strangely when i sing Hmm to him is so lovely though

Boxes finally arrived this morning so means I must stop procrastinating amd get packing, only 3 days to go.

Congrats on the driving test bookworm. i am being forced going to start learning in the next few months. Am terrified though particularly as in Colchester there is a roundavout with 6 mini ones around it. The mind boggles.

hmmSleep · 01/03/2011 10:20

Lainey I love you, Finn and Lottie can flail hopelessly on their bellies together Grin. Good luck with the move.

Can I ask which pushchairs everyone finally opted for? I'm currently using my phil & Teds and a maclaren XT that I had from my other 2, but I'm fancying a rear facing. I want to encourage my 3yr old to walk more so want to stop using the P&T and my maclaren is past it's best. Does anyone have a bugaboo bee or cameleon? Looking into getting one second hand on ebay.

Jenni363 · 01/03/2011 10:31

Umf how did it go at the creche? Freya has been at mine 3 times now, and about to go again. She doesn't seem to mind it at all which is a relief as I love my one hour at the gym. I somehow managed to do 30 min run last time which was a surprise as I feel very unfit at the moment Smile.

I also ordered the Lamaze Spin and Explore Garden Gym from Amazon - thanks for the tip! It should arrive tomorrow and I can't wait to try it as F is not so keen on the tummy time. She hasn't rolled yet but kinda keeps pulling her legs towards her tummy and up a lot while lying on her back so maybe this is a sign of something.

We changed her into the pushchair chassis now (we have iCandy Cherry). Feel like she was getting way too tall for the carrycot, and she seems to like being able to see what is happening.

Sleepwise this past week has been a nightmare! Think she was going through a growthspurt and was up 4 times a night beginning of last week, and then she had her jabs on Wed and has been poorly since. Poor girl has got super blocked nose, making sleeping and feeding difficult.. Resulting a grizzly needy baby. We were up 5 times last night and the night before. I sent DP to sleep in the spare room so he can get at least some sleep, poor man!

Hope you are all well anyways - where did the amazing spring weather go!?

SGJ · 01/03/2011 10:44

Ah, the dreaded Greensted roundabout, enemy of learner drivers! Don't worry too much about it Lainey, it's only a nightmare at rush hour so you should be fine if your lessons are between 10am and 3pm! Good luck to everyone taking lessons.

Jessica isn't showing much inclination to roll yet although she isn't bad at sitting up with minimal support... am keeping an eye on eBay Bumbos to help her as she holds her head up brilliantly but her little chubby legs are a bit short so she doesn't have a strong 'base'!!

We're a way off weaning yet but I'm picking up tips from you all... not sure yet what we'll do but she certainly likes watching us eat so hopefully it'll go well when the time comes.

Pigdin - my top expressing tip is to look at pictures of your baby as you do it, it's a bit cliched but your body does react and seems to let down
more milk. Doing it in the morning is definitely better too.

Fen - hope Norry is better soon & I'm sure the clinginess is worse because he's ill, he just wants to feel comfortable & you're the most familiar thing in his life :)

Rinnyx · 01/03/2011 10:50

Lainey and hmm at least you can get your DC to do tummy time, Isaac is having none of it, I turn him on his tummy and right away he sticks his bottom lip out and crys like a big baby, think he will be happy none moving all day just like DP Hmm

In other news I got him weighed today after 3 weeks, 13lbs 9oz at 16 weeks, he looks alot more tho, also got to try and get a app today to see the GP again as his eczema is not getting any better, still all weeping round his ears poor thing :(
Lets hope 3rd time lucky
