Biscuits congratulations!
You do look lovely in the pics. She is gorgeous. Well done!

I have sat H down in front of Shaun the Sheep (my current favourite kids TV) in an attempt to post, he's heading this way though so this may be brief. Still have a clingy baby, not as bad as before, but it means when he is asleep I have to rush around getting things done.

PiggyPenguin · 25/11/2010 16:23

Aw Biscuits she is beautiful! And what a lovely name. See, photos like that are why my dh insisted on the snip after Jamie was born.

Well done on the make-up though, I was nowhere near as organised. I just insisted on having baby-only photos until I wouldn't scare people.

My god it is freezing! We have no snow though. Anyone building a snowman today?

Amberc · 25/11/2010 16:41

Very impressed with the make up application Biscuits!! Even with a trowel load on I would never have been able to make myself look human! Sybil - MArk is going for the snip after my two are born - just thought - I am next!!!!

WhatWouldLeoDo · 25/11/2010 20:22

D is beautiful Biscuits - we'll have to arrange a meet up in the new year so I can have a wee cuddle!

Grin at the make up. You look fantastic and very content in your pic. S was born late at night so we didn't actually take any pictures of him till the next day and I made sure I had been for a shower, washed my hair and put some make up on before a camera came anywhere near me. I think I looked like death warmed up after that (as opposed to just death Wink).

I love the name too. Tis fab and works really well.

Hardandsleazy · 25/11/2010 20:56

Congrats biscuits (and am also impressed as make up one thing that stayed in my hospital bag- the just after photos would not be suitable for public viewing).

Hardandsleazy · 25/11/2010 20:57

Anyone else watching I am a celeb- lembit a cock isn't he?

Sympathies for all those with colds- still feel rubbish after 10 days

Hardandsleazy · 25/11/2010 21:44

Feeling lazy (and over sensitive) but any comments on this welcome - too idle to post twice concern

neenz · 25/11/2010 22:09

Congratulatuions Biscuits! Lovely pic, lol at the make-up and double lol at Rolf getting broody Grin.

Sorry H&S, not much good on nanny stuff. Am I right in thinking the nanny doesn't want to have so much free time and get paid for doing nothing? Shock

Hardandsleazy · 25/11/2010 22:13

Yep that is right - and I don't really like idea of having to think about replacing her as a background factor while I go through various tests and possibly ivf (haven't posted on this but have plan of sorts with dr about ttc). Feel that adds pressure that don't need (ie if I have another she will
Be more settled)

WhatWouldLeoDo · 25/11/2010 23:09

Hey H&S, I don't have anything valuable to contribute re: nanny, but I'm sorry that you've got this to worry about on top of everything else.

I'm not watching celebrity jungle, but re the former Mr Cheeky Girl - I knew him way back and concur with your findings!

Rolf · 26/11/2010 07:50

Sorry you've got this worry, H&S. When I had a nanny she sometimes had one child whilst the other was at nursery for a few hours, but never had time on her own. So I'm not best placed to advise. But I'd have thought it sounded like a nice job, tbh.

Amberc · 26/11/2010 08:29

H&S I don;t understand why the nanny would not want some free time and get paid for it - how odd! We will be getting a p/t nanny in March/April who will get no free time at all!

H&S if you are going private and have to purchase any IVF drugs I have some unused and perfectly in date that you could have if you are prescribed the same. Hope you don't need it though.

Had such a bad day yesterday - I think the lack of sleep is making me very depressed. It's the sciatica which is stopping me from sleeping. I'm only getting about 3/4 hours a night. Energy levels zero. I spent all morning in tears yesterday Sad

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 26/11/2010 08:30

We're going home today, I can't wait!

Am currently in suspense waiting to hear from my sister as she went into hospital at about 7 am. As predicted, she's going to have her baby on its due date! She's been in labour since wed morning and her hinders broke on wed, but no baby yet - she's always very organised so I've been teasing her that it would be today, as she had it in her diary!

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 26/11/2010 08:31

Hinders = hind waters !

Rolf · 26/11/2010 09:31

That's lovely, the cousins being the same age Smile.

Hope C's nice and crusty now. Is Dorothy going to be Dorothy or Dottie/Dotty?

Amber poor you Sad. No sleep in winter is especially miserable.

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 26/11/2010 10:27

We haven't decided yet rolf C is often Lottie, so Dotty might be too much!

amber poor you. Having had a few bad nights recently I can only imagine that you are feeling worse. Much sympathy.

Amberc · 26/11/2010 11:02

Thanks all! Another 6 weeks of it!

Biscuits - glad you are getting home - Lottie and Dotty could be cute!

WhatWouldLeoDo · 26/11/2010 12:34

Glad you're getting home Biscuits and that C is finally getting to meet D.

What's the betting that you decide against Dotty, but C ends up calling her that so it sticks? Grin

PiggyPenguin · 26/11/2010 13:15

I do feel for you Amber, late pregnancy is crappy, and late pregnancy with twins with must be so hard. With J I had to use so many pillows to be comfy in bed that dh could barely fit in, I can hardly imagine how difficult it is for you.

Biscuits I think you may well end up with Dottie too, although I think it is really adorable so would be doing so purposely!

H&S, I've never had a nany so can't really advise but if she is wanting to change the agreement surely you could too? Getting her to do more housework/cooking when she's having down time maybe. Too be honest, I would try not to think about it if I were you. You need to concentrate on what else is happening in your life, and stressing over how it affects her is not going to help that. When push comes to shove, I suspect she will be unlikely to leave what sounds like positive and flexible employment, especially in the current economic climate.

Still no snow here and now it seems that we may not get any. Kids are gutted!

abdnhiker · 26/11/2010 17:00

Uggh! DS1 has a tummy bug and is completely miserable. Poor sweetie - although on the positive side, he's managed to throw up in a bowl every single time which is so much easier for me to cope with.

Sleazy I would have thought it would be a bonus to have some spare time during working hours. Now I'm wondering how my nanny will like it next year when Fraser's in the school nursery every afternoon - more incentive to look for a nanny share (I so hope she doesn't leave - although I'm more afraid she'll want to travel as that's what I wanted to do at her age). It's a difficult thing isn't it? I feel so thankful to have a good nanny that it makes it a different employer/employee relationship - I really really want her to be happy because it's so good for my boys on so many levels. (Next year DS1 will be in school full days and fraser will have nursery every afternoon so I was hoping for a nanny share anyways just to split the cost a bit and fill Fraser's day with another kid - he really misses Duncan when his brother's not around).

Biscuits, Dorothy was my grandmother's name and her nickname was Dot when she was young. It's a lovely name :)

SpiderWilliam · 26/11/2010 17:57

Hi All,

AH sorry that ds1 has a bug. P was vomiting yesterday too and is still not eating normally now. Not nice. Well done on catching it all though. More than I managed.

H&S sorry that you have these nanny worries at a time when your attention should be elsewhere. No practical advice I'm afraid but I echo what others have said that it is strange that she seems to want a more intensive working regime.

Amber - all I can say is that when I was in hospital the other week the woman opposite me had a 3 yo DS and had just had twin dds. They were gorgeous sleeping in the same bassinet. It will be worth it in the end.

abdnhiker · 26/11/2010 18:38

btw - anyone else have snow? We've got 15 cm at least! I've been out shovelling twice today and it's still falling.

SpiderWilliam · 26/11/2010 19:53

Nope. All is green here. Although it is well below freezing with clear skies.

PiggyPenguin · 26/11/2010 19:57

Rub it in why don't you Abdn Wink

My older two will be devestated if we don't get some snow, they have been weather watching avidly since Monday.

It is so cold here I am planning on leaving the heating on overnight. I got up to get a drink last night and the water in the bathroom was so cold it was painful to drink! I put the heating on very sharpish, burst pipes are the last thing I need right now.

Rolf · 26/11/2010 22:11

Poor T has had the most awful bout of tummy spasms with her constipation. It lasted about 30 minutes, and she was sprawled across me, crying and sweating with each spasm. I wanted to try to get her in a warm bath but she was so distressed whenever I tried to move her that we just stayed put. I thought the worst of it was over the other day, so hadn't gone to the chemist, but evidently not Sad. I had to phone the school mid-way through and ask them to tell DS1 to walk home on his own as I just couldn't move her. I know he's old enough to do so, but it was the first time in the dark and he obviously wasn't prepared for it.

sorry for the poo-obsessed posts Blush
