llareggub · 29/11/2010 23:08

I'm here! I'm snuggled under a warm blanket and dreading going upstairs to a cold bed.

flippineck · 01/12/2010 08:49

momino - you thread killer you! Wink

Don't worry about the book, I was thinking of asking if you'd sent it but more in a hope-it's-not-lost-in-the-post way rather than an I-want-my-book-now kind of way.

Sorry for lack of posting, we're all still ill - every time I think the girls are better then things go down hill again. A's chest is much better than it was but she's still full of snot, poor thing. And I've got sinusitis and feeling a bit crappy too, constant head and face ache.

Hope everyone is ok and surving whatever the weather's throwing at you x

momino · 01/12/2010 19:16

Hi all!
keeping the thread alive, I say Grin.

I hope everyone is warm and safe in your homes.

DH was home working and will probably be home working tomorrow. dd1 home early from school today and home tomorrow. dd2 home from nursery tomorrow. it's all good fun. we watched a dvd and had popcorn today.

i did no work and felt no guilt!

DH had a tel interview today and is waiting for a call about another job from a separate interview so keeping fingers crossed. He's still working at current job in 'consultation' and is expected to apply for a job in London but don't think him working 4 days in London and one at home is what our family needs right now. And a move to london isn't in our plan (well, it would be if he were offered with a salary a figure or two higher!).

Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the snow pics on FB. x

Hi everyone,

Popping in to say hello.

From FB and here it looks like there are a lot of ill people (big and small) around. (llare and ds's, momi flip banned, just to name a few). I'm just recovering from a bad cold + fever type thing myself and C's had a temp all day + is doing some serious frantic teething chewing. Hopefully she'll be better tomorrow.

School is open here, the snow's not been too bad in our patch of Kent, though I've heard that Kent has been the worst in the South East, but clearly not our bit of Kent Hmm. Yesterday, though, was a bit of a nightmare. The ap's family was visiting and the train to Gatwick Airport was cancelled, so I kindly offered to take them while DH and the ap stayed at home to pick up the dcs and stay with Claire. Trip to the airport that was fine, on the way back I was a touch engrossed in my thoughts and missed the exit for the M25 on the M23. Actually I just noticed, but due to the snow I decided not to risk a sudden and slightly illegal turn onto the sliproad. At first it looked fine, my plan was to turn back at the next junction and the M23 looked empty. Then I hit a wall of traffic standing still and I stood there, occasionally moving a few yards at the time for over 2h. Luckily there was a handy service road between the 2 sides of the motorway and the police was letting people turn around through there. I had to battle my way from the outside to the inside lane, but got there in the end and then I was off back home. Only took me 4h longer than it should have! Funnily enough DH made me pack up food, a torch, blankets and all sorts in case I got stuck. I had found it a touch OTT, but had done it anyway. I really was glad with that food! But he had also asked me to take C at first, which I'd refused. Really if he's so worried about me getting stuck in the snow, a toddler in the back really isn't the bestest of ideas. I do sometimes wonder about him Xmas Hmm

Our cat is still missing too. I'm really hoping she's now living with someone, because I don't like the thought of there being a possibility that she's out there lost in the snow Xmas Sad The dcs are taking it quite well still. Ds has the occasional wobble, but dd1 doesn't mention her at all.

We're in the middle of trying to buy that house we like. As far as we're aware we're the only ones who are interested. We think that the time of year, the state of the market and the fact that we've got no chain all play in our favour and hopefully by the end of the week we'll know whether the house is ours or not Xmas Grin

I'm enjoying the last few days of my annual leave and the snow and illnesses have scuppered my xmas shopping plans, so online shopping it'll be I think.

Talking about online shopping. Better go and do my Ocado shop now.

Hope everyone's well.

llareggub · 01/12/2010 21:41

Oooh! Good luck with the house. Fingers crossed you get it. I'm very impressed with your local police. We had a similar situation last year and they were booking people who were escaping off the gridlock situation on the local A road by using the sliproad illegally.

I had to take poorly DS2 to the GP as he suddenly developed fever and vomiting. I always say that our surgery is magical because a visit there always results in a rapid change in symptoms and today was no exception. When we got home he was running circuits of our downstairs, following his older brother.

We are definitely suffering from being cooped up for days. Because of our bug, we haven't really left the house since Monday and we have cabin fever. Our street is a weird one as it sees hardly any sun or traffic so we still have loads of snow, despite the main roads being clear. The countryside looks beautiful though. Totally white!

llareggub · 01/12/2010 21:43

Oops! Forgot to add the rest of my post.

Momino fingers crossed for your DH's telephone interview. How is he feeling?

I hope everyone is else is recovering too from the horrid lurgy!

momino · 02/12/2010 14:23

HOw's everyone today? Hope those not feeling well are better today. Have you been out today llare?

Belgina, Sad about your cat. I hope she's ok and warm somewhere.

llare, DH hasn't heard back about the tel interview yet but he thought he'd done ok. He also had an interview last week but hasn't heard back from them yet so a bit Sad as he really wants that one.

no news is good news (?). [hopeful emoticon]

Hello everyone, hope you're all well!

Momino, fingers crossed foryour DH.

Thanks for the get well wishes....not worked though, on top of the sinusitis (me) and chest infection (A) we both have D&V. Oh joy. So DD1 will be watching CBeebies all day. DH is going to try to come home from work a bit earlier than usual, but he's really busy because of people not getting into work (there's a whole rant there about how much effort some of his colleagues have made Angry)

momino · 03/12/2010 21:14

aw, hugs to you Flippin , hope you are better tomorrow.

btw, do rant away if you need to, I'm here! Xmas Smile

smokeybacon · 05/12/2010 19:52

Hello.

Another apology for being so rubbish at posting. But its quite hard finding the time to keep up as I am finding that when I have a spare mo, I am too tired to do very much other than either veg or sleep. So I am so very sorry I haven't been keeping up with the thread recently. I manage on FB as its on my phone so easily to hand when feeding!

So NC amnesty please!

Cannot believe that the twins are now 4 weeks old. They are emerging from their sleepy phase but am pleased to report that they are superstars at night and only waking once

smokeybacon · 06/12/2010 20:05

Oh dear, have I scared you all off?

hopalongsausage · 06/12/2010 20:09

Whats the bear thingy?

Back later / tom Xmas Smile

smokeybacon · 06/12/2010 20:25

As I understand it, and I could have got it wrong, Pom Bears are offered in awkward silences. I think.

momino · 06/12/2010 23:13

i like the bear thingy. Xmas Smile

how is everyone? it's so cold here.

just wanted to share an anectdote: Harper has a generally healthy appetite though she loathes sitting and I loathe repeating, 'H, sit down. H, sit down. H, sit down'. what's funny is that she'll have a normal meal, maybe pick a little at it more than eat it. but then, after the other two have left the table and I'm starting to clear the dishes, she makes her way round to the other two girls' chairs, picking at their leftovers and can eat twice as much more after the meal than she did during the meal. what a little scavenger Xmas Grin!

today, she ended up eating the rest of a bowl of steamed broccoli an hour after the meal had finished. in fact, I now leave some bowls of the veg and healthy food on the table for some time after the meal ends just knowing Harper will be making her rounds. Probably not a good habit to get into as I should be encouraging her to eat a meal whilst sitting down with the family but at least she's getting extra greens this way!

Can I just say that I met up with Tummum, Llareggub and Dandy last Saturday for a fantastically swish lunch in London and I had such a lovely time - I would like to apologise, though, for my incessant nose blowing, coughing, and any inappropriate swearing. I blame the prosecco Xmas Blush

sausagewrappedinbacon · 07/12/2010 20:38

AND can I also just say that I am sick and tired of so much snot everywhere.

And can Cher Lloyd just go away.

momino · 07/12/2010 22:19
