Welcome to our new, cosy thread. Log fires, big jumpers and Christmas shopping Grin.

What do you mean it's still August?! Wink

Dewin - any news on your test and dh#s finger?

Neenz, I stopped with sleeping bags ages ago for Ethan and he just has blankets at the mo and will be having his duvet in a week or so when it's colder at night.(still in cot)

Knitting - hope you get some better news when you see the surgeon, bleeding sounds miserable.

Rough night here with Tristan in with us, he has an inhaler, but hasn;'t been diagnosed with asthma(yet), anyway he has picked up this cold that dh and I have and he had a high temp last night, and such rapid breathing, 42 breaths a minute at one point. This morning thank goodness he is so much better and the breathing has really calmed down, but it's awful to hear him like this, might have to fit in a trip back to the specialist before we move back.

KnittingisbetterthanTherapy · 25/09/2010 08:56

Deb, that must have been so stressful Sad. Poor T.

Hope he gets over his cold quickly and a trip to the specialist definitely sounds like a good idea.

DebInAustria · 25/09/2010 12:51

Thanks Knitting, he's fine now, you wouldn't believe that he'd been so poorly last night.

Checking in for news from Dewin, hope you're OK, and how's dh?

DewinDoeth · 25/09/2010 16:41

Ooh, the suspense!
DH is ok - not dislocated but has a slightly torn tendon. Not great for trying to get a suitcase out of a big pile on a virgin trains luggage compartment...maybe he should sue for personal injury! Grin (For those who don't know, that's his area of law.)

Me - still no totm but haven't got round to taking the test. (Sorry!!!) Am rather enjoying the 'must be pg' phase. Smile

KnittingisbetterthanTherapy · 25/09/2010 17:44

You have far more willpower than me Dewin!

DebInAustria · 25/09/2010 18:04

How can you do this to us Dewin?

DewinDoeth · 25/09/2010 18:44

No, I live in a rural area and Tesco is a 15 minute drive...

KnittingisbetterthanTherapy · 25/09/2010 19:32

Lol at 15 min drive! When I suspected I was pg with M I drove to Tescos (10 min drive) and they were out of pg tests Shock so I then drove to Sainsburys (20 min drive from Tescos) to go and buy one!! Grin And this was all the night before a GP appt where he would have given me a test for free, but there was no way I could wait that long!

Like I say, more willpower . . . Smile.

Rolf · 25/09/2010 20:59

Dying to know here, too!

DH is away at the moment and phoned today to tell me that he'd fallen asleep on his pen, and is blue Hmm. I hope it's not on his face, or else he'll have to wear his wig back to front next week, which won't inspire confidence Hmm. I think he ruined the bed, too.

We went to a brilliant adventure playground today. T was racing up hills to go on a v fast slide, and charging off all over the place. We went to a fair (giant pumpkin fair, not dodgems), and went home via the beach Smile

neenz · 25/09/2010 21:16

Sounds lovely, Rolf. We spent the afternoon driving to Chester to look at bunk beds Hmm. Not very exciting and made worse because DH took a wrong turn and the sat nav then took us on a 15mile diversion instead of just turning us around Angry. We got the beds anyway £510 for beds, pocket sprung matresses, under-bed drawers, pillows and duvets. We got 10.5 tog (don't want them waking up cold Smile). Knitting it never occurred to me to put duvets in their cots! But I assume cot duvets are a lot smaller than single duvets Confused. It would have killed me to buy cot duvets only to have to buy bigger ones a few months later Grin. So the beds are coming on Thurs and we'll put them up next weekend. DH calls their cots 'bed with gates' because they love gates Hmm, so now we have to convince them that beds without gates are just as good!

Falling asleep on his pen Rolf? HmmWinkGrin

Knitting, bet you were glad the test was +ve after that epic drive Grin.

Deb, sounds very scary about T. Hope you can get him seen and diagnosed if necessary.

Dewin, I also enjoyed the 'must be pg because I haven't taken a test that says not' stage Smile. You are going to do it tomorrow tho? The cheapo tests are just as good as the expensive so always go cheap!

I have got a big spot on my face Sad. I know it is vain but I am so annoyed - it's cos of the contraceptive implant (I assume). Like I said, vain Blush

systemsaddict · 25/09/2010 21:53

Dewin this is all very exciting and my pg radar are going off at full force by the accounts of your symptoms!

We need to buy a bed too. Caitlin learned to climb out of her cot last week (but not back into it) and since then she sproings out like Zebedee as soon as we leave the room. Tried rapid returning her and sticker chart but no joy, so for naps we are back to taking her out in the pushchair!! and at night have to wait till she's dropping with exhaustion before she'll stay in. But she does at least stay in her room and play, so I figure if she has a bed she can play in her room and crawl into it whenever she gets tired - so long as she's not bothering us I'm happy!

We've had cot duvets since moving into this house in November 'cos it was very very cold here last winter, better now after cavity wall insulation and some windows fixed but both kids are used to snuggling under duvets now.

DebInAustria · 25/09/2010 22:05

Rolf, it sound slike you've had a lovely day. and what is your dh like, that's where your dd1 gets it from, didn't she have an orange face for somethinging important?

Neenz , are you having the bunkbeds as separate twin beds? If so you could keep the safet bars on the one which should be top and then it still has gates, then just get a bed guard for the other

Systems, I am so glad that Ethan doesn;t do climbing yet

As if things weren't bad enough last night, Tristan just appeared upstairs about an hour or so after he'd gone to bed, sat down next to me on the settee, then went and got the phione and started to dial someone's number, he was obviously sleepwalking and it was quite scary, anyone got any experience?

systemsaddict · 25/09/2010 22:18

Deb I had a friend who sleepwalked regularly, and when staying at our house he more than once turned up at our bedroom door completely naked, you had to have your wits about you! I used to sleepwalk as a child too, often turned up in the kitchen downstairs, Mum would just tell me to go back to bed and I didn't remember it next day. It was only a problem when I dreamed the toilet was somewhere inappropriate like behind the armchair ... My brother did it too so it may be genetic.

I understand it's not normally anything to worry about, more like a disruption of the usual dreaming process, and people normally negotiate stairs etc OK by muscle memory, but I would just have a safety check, make sure windows etc are secured and keep the front door locked.

Yes this climbing thing is a mixed blessing! she's fearless and extremely capable but you have to watch her. 'Don't worry Mummy I get it for you' and suddenly she appears with scissors in her hands having climbed up on the kitchen counter for them ... she gets up and down off the full-size trampoline in the garden using a step which she drags out herself ... while I'm still lifting Liam down!

DebInAustria · 25/09/2010 22:31

Thanks Systems, Shock at the naked visitations from your friend, did you persuade him to wear pyjamas? Interesting to hear about your experiences, did you just grow out of it? Caitlin sounds so brave compared to Ethan !!

Rolf · 25/09/2010 22:31

Blimey Deb, that's a good memory! We couldn't remember whether she coloured her face purple or orange for DS1's 1st Communion. You're right, it was orange.

DS1 sometimes sleepwalks to where he thinks the loo is. He's been caught peeing in a bin and onto various walls, and trying to pee on a computer. We became attuned to it and would wake up when we heard him walking in a particular way, so we could get him to the loo but he was always very cranky when we did it.

DebInAustria · 25/09/2010 22:44

Rolf I remembered because I taught a little girl who stamped all over her face with my red smiley face stamp and when your dd1 did that it reminded me!!!

Off to double check all the doors are locked in case he wanders again, at least he stopped off at the loo on the way back to bed.He sleeps with Ethan and their bedroom light was on and the door wide open, thankfully Ethan hadn't woken up.

DebInAustria · 26/09/2010 13:12

my turn to kill the thread, boo hoo

PiggyPenguin · 26/09/2010 13:19

We all want to know Dewin, do it for us if not for you!

Just popping on really briefly. I am meant to be helping ds1 with his science project and will shortly be turning several small balls and a large sheet of card into a model of the solar system. Allegedly. It has actually just cost me a small fortune in hobbicraft so fingers crossed it turns out to be at least presentable.

SpiderWilliam · 26/09/2010 14:28

Grin Good luck with that Sybil.

Back from my parents. P is really out of sorts, but not obviously ill. He has been like this on and off since last weekend. It is somewhat vexing. My best assumption that it is his molars trying to make an appearance. Who knows?

DH is wanting to look for cars on the internet, so had better go and show more commitment.

Upsidedowncake · 26/09/2010 20:07

Hi Ladies

Just checking in and now enthralled by Dewin's pregnancy test. D was negative for a week (when she should have been positive) by the way.

Very imrpessed by all the bed chat. D has a duvet in her cot. Friends moved to Canada and got rid of their stuff - incluidng D's gorgeous White Company bedding. It didn't work out so now they're back. Keep thinking I should offer to give them back. what do you think?

I am keeping her in her cot at the moment, though she does now share a room with DS1 (they both loved sharing so much on holiday that they wanted to be together) Although today's the first day they're not. Am punishing DS1 by separating them...

Got to go help DH with his CV. Just been made redundant again. And I'm due to go on 1 Nov

Sorry to be so self centred.

UDC

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 26/09/2010 20:39

Just marking place really, but sorry to read of redundancy woes UDC. I would probably offer to give friends stuff back (but secretly hope that they wouldn't accept Wink )

Duvets - Although we bought a 4.5 tog duvet for S, we haven't actually used it yet because in an PFB moment we bought a mamas and papas cotbed duvet before he was even born! We started using it in his cot at about age 18 months when he grew out of his -18 month grobags. I'm sure cotbed duvets are about 4.5 tog which is why we went for that weight. S gets a bit hot I think when he sleeps in our bed and we have a 10.5 tog. I think it all depends on how cold your house is at night, whether you have heating on in the night etc.

Just home from my parents and a 101 things to do so must get off the computer!

DebInAustria · 27/09/2010 08:34

UDC - sorry to hear about the redundancies, fingers crossed that one of you gets something else before too long.

DewinDoeth · 27/09/2010 10:32

Hi all, a v. quick one.
Did a test yesterday but it was inconclusive (!!) i.e. whilst I did seem to have two lines they were very faint indeed and the control line only came up 10 minutes afterwards nice and clear. So I decided it hadn't worked.
Did a test this morning - negative. But still have all symptoms and no period. Confused

Might go to see GP (seeing as I'm feeling sick as a dog all the time!) but not sure what's going on.

PiggyPenguin · 27/09/2010 11:07

So sorry to hear about your redundancieds UDC hope something works out for you soon.

I would go to the doc's Dewin at least that way you will find out and if it is something else they can sort it for you. Although, my dr is very much a 'come back in a week if it hasn't improved' kind of guy so it wouldn't help me to go at all.

Has everyone else got their heating on? Its very parky here!

systemsaddict · 27/09/2010 11:28

Dewin a line is a line is a line .... if they've come up even very very faintly yesterday then there was some HCG in your system. Negative today could mean just more dilute urine or different time of day. Suspect GP would just say wait and see and test again in a few days. It is extremely early days yet - HCG levels double every day in early pg - try again tomorrow or the next day? But still feeling sick is good!
