Iwcas- just a vague suggestion- is he tucked in tightly with a sheet? Just if not if might help. Stops my DS doing a 90degree turn and getting wedged sideways x

scooby26 · 03/10/2010 22:16

[snort] at Iwcas's feeling batter.

I'm fine thank you Pixie. I've just been thinking of you and your separation from DH and hoping you're doing OK. Also thinking of you as I have to sew one elastic onto one second hand ballet shoe for DD and even that task makes me shudder so the idea of sewing on 8 seems very heroic. And you are clearly wise - you have more children than me and yet are so calm AND have time to chat to us.

ang, PD and Iwcas, Alex sits quite nicely but shows no signs of moving anywhere whatsoever so can I join the "non-movers" sub group?

Someone tell me the golf is over. Oh, it is for the day so now we have motor racing. I suppose I should be grateful that I was allowed to watch Merlin... and it does at least allow me MN time!

Can I Join non movers? Only moves if walking holding my hands so not really!

BlueyDragon · 03/10/2010 22:40

She's in her second term and it is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Good toes, bad toes, being butterflies... and she loves it so much she wouldn't take her leotard off afterwards last Friday, even though it was pouring with rain. How's DD1 enjoying ballet school?

pixie that just made me cry too! Blush

Was it really a whole year ago pacific told us the bath time rule? It seems like yesterday! But I also feel like I know some of you better than I do. What will you call each other at the unauthorised meet? Real names or screen names? When I see some of you on FB I do a little mental translation to MN names.. IWCAS however will never be 'it was certainly a surprise' but 'ICWAS' to me!

Congrats on your Bruce Sariska!

Valium there was a brief discussion about why some of mine and Angs muffins were soggy. We needed you!

BlueyDragon · 03/10/2010 23:05

I just hope she stays keen, otherwise she's doomed to her mother's complete lack of grace and co-ordination.

Must go to bed, good night all! May the babies sleep...

Have I missed something in my speedreading? Who is *fairyofcake(

Tooblessed glad you are going to cut that friend loose.

Flip it's great when you don't have to feed to sleep anymore isn't it?

Thanks all for the nice comments on DD. She is a little cutie. She commando crawls forward and is up on her knees for ages and makes one crawling movement foward, but not there yet. She is really vocal though mamamamam (when upset), dadadada etc etc. Not with meaning (I presume anyway).

pixie glad DH is due back. IWCAS no advice i'm afraid.

Smac have been pondering whether DD is waking so much because her nappy is damper than it used be. Did you reach any decisions re night nappies?

Have added up all my bills for a year to see how much we need to live on. Scarey!

Waves to everyone else.

Good morning everyone,

lovely sunshine up here!
We had a spectacular bad night! DS was TOTALLY awake between 4 and 6.30 am :( he would either be chatting, screeching, rolling,playing... I don't know what else.
Finally he slept between 6.30 and 8.15am.

How was your night IWCAS, Pacifc?

Pixie how are you?

Where is Arcadie?

Thanks for the advise on milk. We have your 6/7month check this afternoon.. feeling slight nervous about it, but really don't know why.

x

FlipFantasia · 04/10/2010 09:45

V quick visit from me.

Dontry arcadie and anyone else who is using/has used washable nappies (Siamese? I may be totally wrong on that so apologies if I am!) please can you check out this thread - Smac has already v kindly been there.

No time for shout outs. I'm off into the office this afternoon for a meeting about my flexible working application (gulp) and a short catch up on what's been going on since I've been off.

FIL is minding DS and am nervous about that too. I had hoped DH could work from home and help out but he can't so me, DS and FIL are going to have to brave central london (which will be a hassle because of the blardy tube strike!). I'm going to show FIL the office (he's a builder so is quite excited about seeing our shiny, new, environmentally friendly office building Grin), show off DS to my lovely colleagues and then cut the pair of them loose to explore the delights of Kings Cross...I reckon it'll be St Pancras and the British Library for them (with DS hopefully sleeping in his buggy for a fair bit of it).

Keep your fingers crossed that they let me have a four day week...

sunshinesarahandco · 04/10/2010 09:47

OMG bad mummy- Elliott rolled/nose dived off my bed this morning! bad mummy- i was too busy werstling Rosie to get her dressed-(defiant 2yr old this am) and he just went- poor lad- he is not hurt but weas rather shocked about it i think! whoops ! still i am positive both the others did it too-

oh and pixie i loved reading your post from a yr ago i really made me giggle! seems ,ike it was last month!!!! how time flies!

and yes the talk of babies makes me very broody- however it wont be me who is pg next as DH had the snip in july!!!![gutted] still i have 3 beautiful children they are enough to keep me busy and skint!

annamama · 04/10/2010 10:14

You ladies are so funny! It's nice to be back even though I'll never have time to be on as much as I used to... We live in London now (well Bromley anyway) which is great, we're so happy that we finally managed to sell the house.

Flip - I didn't go cold turkey THAT long ago... :) and yes I will come to the London meet-up. Exciting...

Babies crawling etc... amazing. With DD1 I was very competetive and was still trying to teach her how to crawl at 10 months old, but these days I really don't care if my baby is "behind", because I know that she will catch up eventually and she's good at other things! Like using her hands to grab and destroy everything in sight... Grin

Sleeping is not good, like I said she used to sleep through the night for a few months, then since she had chickenpox (awful) a while ago she has not really slept through. She seems to wake up at 3 and 6 almost every night, so I'm considering trying something I read about before, set the alarm for an hour or so before the usual wake-up time, wake baby up and then settle her back to sleep... this is supposed to break the wake-up pattern. Worth a try, like everything!

Has anyone's baby got belly button hernia ? This is something I've self diagnosed by googling squishy belly button. It's not dangerous apparently and most babies grow out of it, but I'm still slightly worried. We have doc's appt next week.

Off to feed Isabelle a late breakfast of baby porridge! (she's had the boob already so not starving, don't call social services!)

hecklephone · 04/10/2010 10:19

Phew, so much to read and catch up on even after just a weekend. In brief, because I really should be in the shower and getting dressed:

cake fairy so nice, whoever you are!

pixie loved the 'this day last year' recap, it made me Grin

BMI happy belated birthday!

AuntySariska Congratulations!

Manda loved the dress - really glam!

Valium Welcome back!

donttry your DD looks like a bonnie baby girl to me! tbh when they're that age, many babies just look, well, like babies! And I have had the same problems with (usually older folk) calling my DDs boys, even when they've been almost head to toe pink. It's one of the issues you face when you a)try to avoid pink and go for, say, light blue with just a smidgen of pink details or if you b)give your girls names which are often used for boys, both of which I do. Oops!

Here is the conversation DH and I had first thing:

Me:
DH: I'll get her up
Me: do you WANT to?
DH: well, no, but...
Me: I'll get her up then.
DH: I can do it. Is there a bottle ready...?
Me: I'll get her up.

Angry

Is ONE LIE IN too much to ask???

On the up side, DD2 has been spending more time in her cot again in the evenings and half the night, which is good. But it does mean more time wrangling her back into the cot at night, which is making me more tired, hence the need for a long lie...Hmm

Right I've really got to go, DH spent an inordinately long time getting the two of them ready to take to the park (welcome to my world!! Wink) and I really should be dressed when they return. Laters.

MummyElk · 04/10/2010 10:26

morning all
sorry for delay was a busy weekend in the end - shopping took AGES, can't believe how busy it was and also had to get my friend on the phone to talk me through Fashion Nowadays in case i bought something stupid. saw some lovely boots bmi am looking forward to seeing The Ones on Thurs. Also ate prawn pad thai. Imagine DH's joy when I got home and started throwing up....Hmm. Still. Good practice for him for next weekend - I'm away two whole nights and it's down to him! DD1 spent the entire time in the zoo saying "I love you Daddy" and actually Sat IN the Buggy.....Shock.... it must just be me then...[harrumpf emoticon]
fairyofcake how nice of you to semi reveal yourself Smile!!!
pixie loved the post from last year, that was v funny. and nostalgic.....
sariska congratulations on becoming an auntie to a lovely NEPHEW PEOPLE will you read the posts properly the little man peed all over the doctor!!! HE'S A HE!!

As you were.
Iwcas no massive advice here but I do feel your pain - DD2 is doing it too. I've tried tucking her grobag in under the mattress (if you can stretch to it, you could buy a 6-18mth one now which is much longer, will tuck in and will last you ages) and also stretching a sheet right across her and tucking it in. Neither worked with any real success. I can only hope it's a phase...???!!!
Similarly I'd quite like some advice please on how to remove swaddle and dummy...at same time and cry it out or gradually? So she's swaddled because she knocks the dummy out. But I want to remove the dummy soonish. So we are currently trying to get her settled on her tummy sans swaddle but with dummy....it semi worked last night but any other thoughts? tbh I need to get rid of the swaddle anyway, it's getting a bit tedious...

Right.
I'm going to make hay and try and finish this blasted blind I started for her room about a month ago.
valium glad you back safe(ish) and sound, hope DD1 ok, looks like you had fun
pixie not long now Smile
