Comment I came across..on twitter I think somewhere.

I thought there was a large element of truth in it?

Views?

OP posts:

I would agree with the OP. I have found left-wing people (especially on MN) to be particularly venomous towards those on the right.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 11/05/2010 21:52

There's too many anti-tory threads on here, facebook is the same though. It's uncalled for. I've not heard as many Labour bashing threads, not even by half. It's pathetic. I didn't vote Labour, I never have. I have also never openly bitched about them the way that Labour supporters have bitched about the tories.

Cyclops · 11/05/2010 21:53

The two sides show their respective displeasures about each other in different ways.

Left hate on right = loud protests, lots of noise

Right hate on left = stiff upper lip

CrosswordGeekWantsChange · 11/05/2010 21:53

I see a lot more anti-Toryness, and have been on the receiving side of it on here and on FB from friends.

And the Conservatives got a larger amount of votes, wish people would stop blabbing that the country "doesn't want them". 2 million more people want them in than Labour, end of.

HerHonesty · 11/05/2010 21:54

I wont find he is genuine, because i know he, and most tories are not.

TheFallenMadonna · 11/05/2010 21:54

What a lot of daft generalisations.

I am amused by the right on this thread I think.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 11/05/2010 21:56

There's no such thing as the stiff upper lip.

I think there's alot of animosity (sp?) because a higher percentage of tory MP's are privately educated.

BelleDameSansMerci · 11/05/2010 21:58

Why does anyone ask if single parents on are the left? Why would we be anywhere other than where our convictions take us?

Not all single parents receive benefits and the assumption that we would necessarily vote for Labour to protect those benefits is offensive and smacks of self interest being the only reason to vote.

Personally, I am sure that I will be financially better off under a Conservative government but I voted Labour because I care about people who are less well off than I am.

Granny23 · 11/05/2010 21:59

What has become obvious over the last few days is that the Labour Party in Scotland hates the SNP so much that they would rather submit to Tory Rule than even talk to the SNP. Why is this? Labour talked with the LDs who are slightly left of centre, so why not SNP & Plaid who are well to the left?

Greensleeves · 11/05/2010 21:59

right-wing thinking lends itself more readily to hatred IMO

socialism from its starting point is a less ruthless and selfish mentality

vesela · 11/05/2010 22:01

BelleDame, I care about them too, and I didn't want Labour to carry on shafting them any longer. Because the more Labour overspent, the more those people were going to ultimately end up in the shit.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 11/05/2010 22:02

The UK has become a capitalist society under Labour. Shopping and big business has flourished (until it all went tits up). The economy has boomed at the cost of families and the needs of children. I would have loved to have stayed at home to care for ds but I just couldn't afford it. Labour were all about the economy, economy, economy.

gomez · 11/05/2010 22:03

The right are too f*cking arrogant to hate anyone.

claig · 11/05/2010 22:06

Granny23 it's because Labour fear the SNP. They know that the SNP are their main opponents. In Scotland, Labour don't fear the Tories, they know that they will always beat the Tories in Scotland. Alex Salmond is a real opponent for them. It's a compliment to Salmond, how much they hate him, just as it's a compliment to Cameron that the rent-a-mob turn out to boo him on his first day of office.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 11/05/2010 22:07

Arrogant?

Cameron made a very gracious speech, where he praised Gordon Brown and Labour for the good work they had done for the country.

HumphreyCobbler · 11/05/2010 22:10

I was waiting for a left wing supporter to come on and say Yes of course we hate them more, they DESERVE it

I think it is the way in which the left ascribe many beliefs and ideologies to me, as a Tory voter, that are simply NOT TRUE that is most irritating tbh.

Although really informed left wing people don't tend to do this, just as informed tory voters don't read the Daily Mail etc.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 11/05/2010 22:11

Quite right MintHumbug. There's no illusion about how tough things are going to be. I for one wish David Cameron all the best (and lots of luck).

HumphreyCobbler · 11/05/2010 22:12

Yes I do agree MintHumbug

The left believe they are morally superior to the right, that lends itself to self righteous invective.

TheStraitsofWTF · 11/05/2010 22:12

Gah. If you're right-wing, you'll always see/perceive more anti-right than anti-left sentiment, and vice versa, so it's no good all tory supporters going, oh yes, I see all horrible lefties everywhere while the right are so polite (and vice versa) because people see what they want to see, what they're sentised towards seeing.

And this - this - is what pisses me off about some politics discussions - all this ya boo sucks shit. Stuff that matters gets lost in political point scoring.

TheFallenMadonna · 11/05/2010 22:12

There's not much to gloat about though for the Tories. Five days after the election they are only just getting the deal done that will get them into government. Had they won a majority, I suspect they would have been more emphatic.

And if Lablor had won it would have been a bloody miracle and they would deserve to gloat...

Cyclops · 11/05/2010 22:14

Agree MintHumbug. Call it stiff upper lip or call it quiet respect, it means the same thing.

claig · 11/05/2010 22:15

HumphreyCobbler, I'm reasonably informed and I think the Daily Mail is great. It breaks hugely important stories that the Telegraph doesn't touch. It broke stories on swine flu and many other important topics that the other papers steered clear of.

HumphreyCobbler · 11/05/2010 22:15

So funny.

The left deserve to behave badly, the right just do it because they went to public school.

Which I didn't btw.
