I'm a PR supporter but I voted Tory - Lib Dems don't have a chance where I am!

Thing is:

Everyone wants PR but they don't know what it is except for some nice knowledgeable people on MN who I can have sensible conversations with about it...

If Labour offer a referendum they want to use AV, which I wouldn't go for and neither, I think, will the Lib Dems

I (and I suspect I'm not alone) also want to see a % bar in place and much better education on politics for the country as a whole

If the Lib Dems can't make a workable coalition then I'll lose all respect for them because this could easily happen with PR and then it NEEDS to work.

GB staying is a condition of Labour staying in power - he, the person holding the position of PM, has the right to form a Govt. If he's replaced by Milliband or whoever Labour lose power by default. They can't make his dismissal a condition of anything and another 'formal handing over of power' would kill Labour.

I have many possible predictions, they all depend on other factors. I can see how each party could do well, I can see how each of them could fuck up massively.

Predictions IF Lib/Con goes ahead:

Labour will give GB the boot and elect a leader properly, have a serious rethink of their policies and come back guns blazing intending to get the 100 seats they need.

Cameron will give 'wartime leader style' speech telling us we need to take the pain, which will sort the economy but be incredibly unpopular

We will have a thorough committee review of PR which will come out with the LDs preferred solution and possibly a referendum.

Or Lib/Lab....

Lib/Lab pact will be formed and they'll spend most of their time squabbling about what form PR will take. The economy will get a sticking plaster. The coalition won't hold for tricky issues.

Or no-one can get a coalition together....

Minority Conservative Govt will get nothing done and we'll see and Opposition motion on PR which will tie up lots of time. We'll lose the triple A rating and the economy gets screwed.

Or no-one can make any decision....

We have another General Election and the deal just done in Europe by the Labour Chancellor-with-no-legitimate-authority will give the Conservatives the majority they need.

I need to sit down and weigh up all the ideas boiling in my head properly. Or I could do something productive like cook dinner!

a limited term agreement I think

I think it would be good to have a referendum on voting reform and then the tories/lib dems could start sorting the economy out.

What do you think the Queen makes of it all? One must be feeling a little impatient!
