Tories won't be able to form a permanent alliance with the LDs but will go with a minority government and LD support. Brown steps down but Labour promises to support the new government on key crisis management decisions - weakening LD hold on events. Electoral reform will be old news by about Friday when we've all had chance to absorb the true awfulness of the financial situation. Cameron will make a 'blood sweat and tears' speech urging us all to pull together without blubbing. Another election in the Autumn - if everyone hurting too much by then, disenchanted LD supporters will vote Labour back.

Or possibly something completely different

I think Katla will blow up, leaving us under a dense dark cloud ash, our crops will fail and the market will collapse. We will have rolling blackouts and exponential inflation. We will all start rioting and looting. The pm will declare martial law and it will be the end of democracy forever.

oybbk

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/05/2010 16:21

beans? surely wine, chocolate and loo roll are the only things that will keep you going through the dark days?

dh is brewing beer as we speak, I shall set up a still in my shed and start distilling our rhubarb.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/05/2010 16:30

The labour party can't go on with a new head / PM (miliband or whoever) - another unelected PM....

Speaking as a gutted Tory i think Cameron should stick to his guns. The Liberals are going to infight over PR but no one really cares that much about it.

We are billions in debt and most folk just want to know what will be in their wage packets at the end of the month and things like NHS and schools. PR comes way down the left to all but a few shouty liberals.

ladylush · 09/05/2010 18:15

How do you know? Lets have a referendum on it and see if you are right

I think if there is another election the UKIP voters will feel hopefully that their point has been made and will vote Tory. It seemed in some results that the Labour majority boiled down to the UKIP vote.

Events in Europe may also put Lisbon back on the agenda with what Sarkozy and Merkel have tried to push through today.

Cartoose · 09/05/2010 19:19

Yes Riven. After all, you do have friends in high places.

Actually, I think Chil1234's scenario sounds about right. But, of course, who knows? This whole thing certainly has me gripped!

Cartoose · 09/05/2010 19:22

Heh

Well I am hardly an expert but happily I am not a hypocrite.

expatinscotland · 09/05/2010 19:56

No predictions about this, but I predicted a hung parliament and bet on it. And won £53 in Wm Hill! Bonus. Was able to buy all three children gumboots for winter and waterproofs for DS and rain jacket for DD1.

No not at all Minthumbug - I wasn't saying you are a hypocrite. I was merely picking up on your point that only a small percentage voted for PR but now a majority are suddenly advocating for it. I did vote for it.

ladylush · 09/05/2010 20:20

And I'm not convinced that the BNP would get much of a voice if PR was introduced.

Cammelia · 09/05/2010 20:34

I think Andrew Lloyd Webber will point to Peter Mandelson and say "You're Dorothy PM"
