Im watching it on sky. I do love abit of Billy Bragg. The reporter is getting right up my nose though. Its all very interesting.

PollyTicks · 08/05/2010 15:18

I'd be furious, too, if I was a LD supporter.

nobiggy · 08/05/2010 15:20

What are they after?

longfingernailspaintedblue · 08/05/2010 15:20

I think there's an outside chance, but a chance nonetheless, that the Lib Dems might split back into the old SDP and Liberal wings.

compo · 08/05/2010 15:21

I like the fact it is annoying Kay Birley on Sky news .

Billy Bragg is always reassuring.

hehe.

What a rabble.

Where was this organised?

kittya · 08/05/2010 15:29

Is that her name Kay Birley? how annoying is she, what was she trying to prove? Ive always loved Billy, he comes accross as being so genuine. What do you think will really happen?

limitedwarranty · 08/05/2010 15:30

Lets get things straight - I did not hear Billy Bragg or any other Labour party supporter wanting electoral reform in 1997, 2001 or 2005 when Labour won overwhelming majorities in 35% of the vote. They are self serving, self interested hypocrites who are now whinging about a system that has served them very well for 13 yrs.

Cartoose · 08/05/2010 15:31

They're not all Lib Deb supporters, just people who want electoral reform

Cartoose · 08/05/2010 15:31

I hope NC comes out to address them

limitedwarranty · 08/05/2010 15:33

The point is that there are diehard Labour supporters who have had a deathbed conversion to electoral reform now that it suits their agenda - just like they ditched every so called principle of the labour party in the 1980's.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 08/05/2010 15:34

I don't think there will be a deal without at the very least a referendum on PR and some concessions on Europe, and probably more than that. And I don't think the Tories will offer that, so overall I don't think there will be a deal.

I think the bulk of LibDem support would be happy with electoral reform but if Clegg makes a deal (anything more than just abstaining on a Conservative Queen's Speech) that doesn't get that then he'll be done as leader.

BelleDameSansMerci · 08/05/2010 15:36

limited that's always been the problem. It's not restricted to Labour party. No party voted in under the existing system is likely to push for reform unless they're sure they wouldn't win again...

Cartoose · 08/05/2010 15:36

Yes, if he can push this through, it will save him. I don't think he's really in a powerful enough position to do it though.

30andMerkin · 08/05/2010 15:37

Interesting point limited, although I think a lot of them are Lib Dem supporters rather than Labour.

Personally I just think it's bloody great that a decent organised peaceful protest, full of young people and first-time voters, is happening 2 days after an election. Political apathy? Pah!

HellenaHandcart · 08/05/2010 15:40

Yes it's great to see politics and democracy and passion in progress. Rather than being run by the press...

Cartoose · 08/05/2010 15:41

OOhh. Looks like NC's about to come out any minute!

Cartoose · 08/05/2010 15:44

he IS going to address them.
