I make the numbers, based on declared results, plus safe seats yet to declare:

Tories - 293
Labour - 246
Lib Dems - 50
DUP - 8
SNP - 6
SF - 4
PC - 3
SDLP - 3
Alliance - 1
Green - 1
Unionist - 1
Speaker - 1

Then there are 32 remaining marginals, which could be won by the Tories.

So Tories can get a MAXIMUM of 325, which is technically not a majority, but actually is, because SF won't sit.

But they won't get that many.

OTOH, Labour/Lib Dem have 296 seats, so are at the moment a little ahead, because they could win all those 32 remaining seats.

IDemosthenes · 07/05/2010 06:50

Can I just post something. I am sure it has been said, either here, or on another thread.

How can we justify a system where 22.7% of the country vote for one party and they get 48 seats, and 28.7% of the country vote for another party. Just 6% more, and they get 225 seats. How on earth can we consider this to be fair or just? Or proportionate? For the first time in my entire life I have woke to see results that have made me so tearful. I am not even an avid lib dem supporter. But the fact that the opinions of this country will not be truly reflected makes me feel sad, and sick.

ASecretLemonadeDrinkerDAVE · 07/05/2010 06:51

Frakkin, Yah, for sure

dinasaw · 07/05/2010 06:51

We've just gone Lib Dem by 800 votes. This seat has been Tory for years

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/05/2010 06:52

Absolutely ID this election, more than ever before has highlighted the need for electoral reform.
