I agree with SanctyMoanyArse. I heard David Cameron talking about this and it sounded just like the Duke of Edinburgh's award, except less challenging. The kids that really want to do it already do.

So relatively OK if you are a SAHM with a former profession looking to start X, Y or Z

OTOH if your child is a bit different
X Y and Z won't want to know because they set the rules and it will be for people Like Them

Andpeople Like Me who need a bit exttra (carers) are tood amn exhausted to DIY

so I suspect it will become DIN (DI Not)

It's not military service but community service, totally different.
