Just starting this so that we can all post our thoughts throughout the day.

My wish for today is that as many people as possible GO OUT AND VOTE.

I cannot vote as I have been living abroad for over 15 years so if anyone wants to vote for me, I would like to vote for Gordon Brown. Voting by MN proxy

OP posts:

sorry this is going to sound random I know - but status update on FB about the election and a certain candidate has just sent me into bit of a jibbering wreck again....

But I could ask if people could refrain from making post that they metaphorically of course as you can actually mean these things of wanting to do physical harm, particularly in relation to necks, of political figures - regardless of their vileness.

PixieOnaBallotBox · 07/05/2010 00:20

Do you think that any real celebrities have something better to do tonight?

DitaVonCheese · 07/05/2010 00:21

I reckon I can make it to 1 am if I nap when DD does tomorrow.

Count faster, dammit!

Cartoose · 07/05/2010 00:21

Here come Gord & Sarah

DitaVonCheese · 07/05/2010 00:21

PS seen this:

Counting at a centre in Londonderry has been officially suspended following a security alert. About 500 people have been moved out of the Templemore Sports Complex after a hijacked car was abandoned in the car park. The gymnasium where the count was taking place has been closed and the doors sealed. Army bomb disposal experts are on the scene.

It's a very exciting night ... though very dull at the same time

toccatanfudge · 07/05/2010 00:22

yes Ali - but that's presuming you could have done easily - there are a multiude of reaons why someone may not really be able to hang around (for nothing in the end!) for hours in the evening.

flowerybeanbag · 07/05/2010 00:22

Ken Clarke is hilarious.

Was that Noel Edmonds at Kirkcaldy? Looked like him...!

DitaVonCheese · 07/05/2010 00:22

Toccata you know you can hide people?

Cartoose · 07/05/2010 00:22
Shock
Cartoose · 07/05/2010 00:24

That was to Dita's post

HollyGoHeavily · 07/05/2010 00:24

Ooh Birmingham Edgbaston count - this one should be interesting....

Or maybe not - they are still counting

Stretch · 07/05/2010 00:24

I am your fb friend TAF, are you ok,? What status?

Paxman is very anti-Brown.

toccatanfudge · 07/05/2010 00:25

I know Dita - I don't want to hide her (as I'll probably forget to unhide her and I do like this person and she'll have had no idea the effect on me - and neither should she really care as she's a "virtual" friend not a RL one) it'll be gone out of my feed soon as I have lots of friends on there.

Its just easier to ask people to try and refrain from things like that on a thread like this than it is to ask a large number of FB friends to do the same.......especially as they will have their friends commenting on their posts who won't see my plea at all (iykwim(

sorry waffling a bit now get a bit like this when I've had a panicky teary moment

ChallengingCitrusHalibut · 07/05/2010 00:27

DreamsInBinary · 07/05/2010 00:31

Greens expecting to take Brighton.

Alibabaandthe40tories · 07/05/2010 00:31

TAF you ok?

I do know what you mean about the voting. More than anything this raises the case for a general election day being an extra bank holiday so that people can vote steadily throughout the day.
Otherwise returning officers have to be geared to an evening rush and have more staff in to hand out ballott papers etc.

Makes me realise how organised our lot are here. There were 10 or 12 staff and at least 30 voting booths.

DreamsInBinary · 07/05/2010 00:32

Which channel is carrying that, knockraven?

gaelicsheep · 07/05/2010 00:32

How d'ya know?
