Just starting this so that we can all post our thoughts throughout the day.

My wish for today is that as many people as possible GO OUT AND VOTE.

I cannot vote as I have been living abroad for over 15 years so if anyone wants to vote for me, I would like to vote for Gordon Brown. Voting by MN proxy

Sorry. Where was it again where people were turned away from voting? I'm just wondering it that's normally a safe seat for anyone.

Jux · 06/05/2010 23:18

Why can't you let people vote after the exit poll's been announced, if they're queueing? It's only an exit poll, it's not the result.

I think it's disgraceful.

And also I'm comparing to my experience. I went in at 5.30 when i expected it to be really busy but was nobody else there at all!

PixieOnaBallotBox · 06/05/2010 23:19

Game here

Cartoose · 06/05/2010 23:19

Dominos? It's pretty gimmicky on the BBC tonight isn't it. Cute though.

gingerblonde · 06/05/2010 23:19

My polling station apparently had queues in the middle of the day - unheard of (safe Labour seat - trying to read something meaningful into that).

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 06/05/2010 23:19

We took DD with us to vote at 6pm. She was very disappointed to find that we weren't going on a 'boat'...

HalfMumHalfBigot · 06/05/2010 23:19

right have bfed dd have got glass of wine and family bag of crisps lets see how long I can stay awake...

...anything happening yet?

DreamsInBinary · 06/05/2010 23:19

Sparkly - for may commuters 7am isn't early enough, and 8pm onwards is the only option.

gaelicsheep · 06/05/2010 23:19

Cos they might hear on the grapevine and change their vote accordingly.

anastaisia · 06/05/2010 23:20

some people saying had been waiting to vote for hour or more.

One of our polling stations ran out of ballots and had to send out for more and told people to come back later.

anastaisia · 06/05/2010 23:21

(wasn't one of those people turned away from in the end- but could have been things like that)

gaelicsheep · 06/05/2010 23:21

Lol Bumperliouzzzzz - my little boy was expecting trains!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 23:21

it is utterly shocking, that because more people than expected wanted to vote after work so many are denied their democratic right.

there are going to be legal challenges galore I expect. a very messy time.

DreamsInBinary · 06/05/2010 23:21

Exactly the same here, Bumper!

Hulababy · 06/05/2010 23:23

cartosse - all over the country. Wards in Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, London...

PixieOnaBallotBox · 06/05/2010 23:23

Washington and Sunderland West imminent.

MumofOscar · 06/05/2010 23:24

Right - off for a quick ciggie before they declare!

Jux · 06/05/2010 23:24

Thousands of people denied their vote

toccatanfudge · 06/05/2010 23:25

here we got for number 2

mspotatochip · 06/05/2010 23:26

sit in in hackney!

amelem · 06/05/2010 23:26

I have started watching Kinky boots on BBC2 until next lot of results come through. Is anyone doing the same? looks like a good film. Hoping for a Labour/Lib dem coalition.

Cartoose · 06/05/2010 23:26

Oh, I had no idea it was in so many places. That's awful.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 23:26

so, we have Sheffield and amnchester closing their doors at 10 despite queues. Lewisham keeing their doors open for an extra half hour and Birmingham (?) locking doors at 10pm and if you are in room you can vote.

what a mess.
