The glee that you welcome the revolution is slightly sickening, Coolfonz.

These are real people, not chess figures on a board.

People who are sitting frightened in offices, banks and homes hoping that the anarchists will not torch their buildings and that they and their families will survive unscathed.

It is easy to get caught up in the politics and the economic equations and loose track of the normal Greeks whose lives will never be the same.

Nice to be able to sit in an investment bank with your spreadsheets and cheer the revolution whilst people are torched to death in riots. Contradictory to say the least, or are you trying to kill the system from within or something?

Germany is being self interested, its banks are in the firing line if Greece defaults. So basically the German state is organising a bailout for German private interests. That and the fact that Germany and France created the fiscal conditions for entry into the Euro and screwed it up big time...

ElenorRigby: Yes, indeed. There does at least seem to be some realisation here that some austerity measures will be needed - none of the main parties are denying that, just disagreeing about when and what to cut.
