In anticipation of tomorrow's TV debate, MN will be launching a fifth poll of Mumsnetter voting intentions as soon as the debate finishes. Can Cameron regain the ground he's lost? Will Clegg continue to build on his success following the first and second debates? We'll have to wait and see - but in the meantime, we've put together a handy table showing how your voting intentions and attitudes towards the party leaders have changed over the past four polls

OPf course con becuase honest ahrdworking people are never in need of benefits are they? Yikes

Damn us lazy arsed carers, yet again.

My DH is self employed but becuase of his field he is having to take on training as well as the busoiness (he was employed, redundancy)- TC's are helping him keep the business afloat and not land us on Income Support and JSA. A bonus ofr all, surely?

MollieO · 29/04/2010 22:19

Mandy hasn't been at the other debates. Interesting that he is wheeled out now. Not sure that is a smart move by Labour.

cinnamontoast · 29/04/2010 22:19

Herbie that does sound tough but I honestly don't see why you think you'd be better off under the other parties.

MmeLindt · 29/04/2010 22:20

By idealistic I mean that he lacked gravitas.

He was not nearly as collected as in the other debates, seemed out of his depth, did not answer the questions asked but waffled a bit.

He also came up with a few truly silly ideas, like the refurbishing the boarded up houses as a solution to the woman not able to afford to buy her own house.

gaelicsheep · 29/04/2010 22:20

Honestly, did nobody else see straight through GB's outright lies? How can he justify spending huge amounts taxpayers money to administer miniscule CTC handouts to wealthy families? And claim that abolishing that ridiculous practice is going to harm the "poorest families"? Whatever credibility he had left just ebbed away tonight.

And the corporation tax cut is for ALL business Gordon!

I wasn't particularly a Tory supporter, and I won't vote for them here because it gives GB more of a change. But boy were GB's lies a turn off for me. I was nearly throwing things at the TV by the end. I cannot stand politicians that take the electorate for fools.

gingercat12 · 29/04/2010 22:20

That is a surprise

vesela · 29/04/2010 22:21

clam, LD extra education funding is costed within the deficit reduction plan.

atlantis · 29/04/2010 22:21

comres poll cameron wins 35%

Heathcliffscathy · 29/04/2010 22:21

everyone claiming that libdems aren't realistic/are idealistic etc etc have you read the manifesto? have you read the back where they breakdown how it would be paid for? neither of the other parties do this. what are you on about???

SanctiMoanyArse · 29/04/2010 22:21

(that was to Bacon btw- can't type and breastfeed sadly)

CaveMum · 29/04/2010 22:21

I'm no fan of Osbourne, and I say that as a 'cough' Tory voter 'cough', but worse than The Prince of Darkness?! I can't see it.

'Hums the Darthvader music from Star Wars - Dum Dum De Dum Dum De Dum Dum De Dum!

clam · 29/04/2010 22:22

As if I didn't have enough reasons to not vote Labour, Mandelson is the biggest. He makes my skin crawl.

Vile man.

And did we really hear GB say that he knows how to run the economy in good times and in bad? I almost spilt my tea!

atlantis · 29/04/2010 22:22

You Gov

cameron 41%

NC 32%

Brown 25%

scottishmummyofone · 29/04/2010 22:23

apparently on the Ch4 poll, brown is winning? :D

cinnamontoast · 29/04/2010 22:24

MmeLindt, agree with you about naivety of boarded-up houses claim. And where are all the single people going to live when he ditches one-bed flats?

animula · 29/04/2010 22:25

I am amazed that this is seen to have gone well for DC.

Amazed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/04/2010 22:25

the worm didn't like DC attack on Lib Dem Immingration amnesty.

BeenBeta · 29/04/2010 22:25

Looks like the instant polls are consistently giving the winner of the debate as Cameron with Clegg and Brown second and third.

My view is that is exactly the election result in terms of vote share will be as well. How that turns into seats is still uncertain but I think LibDems will take far more votes form Labour than Tories. As a result handing the Tories a win.

vesela · 29/04/2010 22:26

I think the reason I was getting frustrated tonight is that NC was putting out a fairly straightforward pitch. Having listened to him on Radio 4 and Radio 1 this week arguing hind leg off a donkey and going deep into philosophy and policy detail, tonight seemed more bland than he's capable of. Could have gone down well, though - we'll see.

Cameron way too one-note, seemed to preach to the converted and use phrases like "do the right thing" over and over again - maybe trying to appeal to Gillian Duffies, but can't see it doing much. The worm thought he attacked too much though.

Gordon - well, I'll spare you any more of my rants.

wubblybubbly · 29/04/2010 22:26

GB quite possibly might have saved my life when I think about it. The whole 2 week referral thing for suspected cancer might just mean I caught this bugger in time.

It doesn't bear thinking about what might have happened if Cameron and his lot were in power.

whifflegarden · 29/04/2010 22:26

woosam, ideologically, I agree re. child benefit. I haven't put enough thought into that one though.
I was disgusted when they cut vat, pissed £12bn up the wall right there. Even buying a relatively expensive £1000 item, £20 reduction is not going to matter to consumers but cumulative effect on govt finances was significant.

CUNextTuesday · 29/04/2010 22:26

YouGov is a Murdoch led enterprise IIRC

animula · 29/04/2010 22:26

I saw that immigration amnesty worm! It was interpreted as "people don't like you being nasty to each othr" -- maybe it's because people think it's sensible.

Heathcliffscathy · 29/04/2010 22:27

absolutely animula

SparrowGirl · 29/04/2010 22:28

The LD policy to reclaim empty buildings is one they have had for years and I rather like. I think it's disgusting that there are empty houses all over the country when people live on the streets or in completely unsuitable accommodation. It is perfectly sensible to take buildings left empty and unmaintained off their negligent owners and put them to proper use.
