Cameron has won the yougov poll. DC put on a polished performance. What do you think it means for the election?

Murdoch owns Yougov??

It's run by Peter Kellner, a Labour guy married to Baroness Ashton.

They have consistently been extremely accurate.

LackaDAISYcal · 22/04/2010 21:57

My initial thought was that it was a YouGov/Sun poll....and the sun is a tory rag. Does that mean I'm cynical?

Cameron wasn't the strongest imo, and the post debate interviews on sky news seem to be backing that up.

BoggleJunior · 22/04/2010 21:59

The Sun just commission YouGov, I think. (i.e. they paid for it). Have never heard a whiff of YouGov being biased.

southeastastra · 22/04/2010 22:00

To balance Kellner - YouGov's former chief exec has stood down to become a Conservative candidate.

Is Murdoch a client rather than the owner?

atlantis · 22/04/2010 22:09

You gov is an independent pollster they are not owned or influenced by Murdoch, how stupid is that, you gov have been a reputable pollster for years.

Yes cameron won that one easily, then clegg then brown.

ReneRusso · 22/04/2010 22:09

David Cameron was a bit stronger this week. I thought Gordon Brown was a disaster this week, he just comes across so badly. I think these debates will only help the Lib Dems and make a hung parliament more likely.

southeastastra · 22/04/2010 22:09

bog all

Molesworth · 22/04/2010 22:10

Yougov independent? I don't think so

missymousie · 22/04/2010 22:10

OMG How ridiculous - did they ask anyone who watched the debate to comment on the yougov poll.

Brown did far far better, Clegg held his own but David Cameron looked like a liability and totally out of his depth.

What appalled me was the shocking level of bias in the SKY coverage. The moderator obviously favoured Cameron (who still couldn't pull it together)

and as for cutting to the yawning man.....

that was cheap - sky shouldn't have the opportunity to host this sort of serious politic debate again

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 22:11

if yougov themselves admit to this HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU CLAIM IT'S UNBIASED!!!

here

"Plainly this is a deliberate attempt to produce a poll which shows the Lib Dem surge as a blip, and thus discourages potential Lib Dems voters. That the Murdoch press pull such a stunt should surprise nobody. But even though they are getting huge money from Murdoch for these daily polls, YouGov must realise that this abrogates all professional methodology and breaches the ethics of the polling industry. The senior management of YouGov must resign.

STOP PRESS

Anthony Wells of YouGov (known henceforth as YouGove) admits YouGov asking these "questions, but claims the voting intention question ought to have been asked first. He also points out that the antiLib Dem questions were "Not for publication".

I bet they bloody weren't. "

just in case you couldn't be bothered to read the link, yougov admit to slandering nick clegg before asking polling question.

how very evenhanded of them.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 22:12

atlantis, please do read the link and the comment from yougov itself and then come back and claim unbias.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 22:18

NO response?

none?

ShadeofViolet · 22/04/2010 22:26

I took part in the ComRes poll which put
NC -33%
GB- 30%
DC - 30%.

Much more realistic IMO, and not biased!

atlantis · 22/04/2010 22:28

"atlantis, please do read the link and the comment from yougov itself and then come back and claim unbias. "

Sorry, watching sky news and squabbles, great fun.

I have been a memeber of you gov for the past four years and have done a number of the election polls including tonights.

You get the link early and as soon as the show goes off you click the link and answer the questions. All the question were evenly based such as who do you think did best; NC,GB,DC etc.

There's no bias there.

The poll closes 10 mins later and thats your lot.

atlantis · 22/04/2010 22:30

As for that nc poll I suspect that that was commissioned by either the tories or labour as they both (don't know about lib dems but possibly) use you gov to do flash polls on other parties.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 22:31

so no response to the link or to yougov's statement admitting what they have done?

atlantis · 22/04/2010 22:31

I had a poll yesterday that gave a policy speech by each leader and you had to choose which one you liked best, not sure which party commissioned that but I think the speeches were out takes from the first debate.

atlantis · 22/04/2010 22:32

"so no response to the link or to yougov's statement admitting what they have done? "

I clicked the link and didn't see anything from you gov just some bloke talking about a survey on nc.

Enlighten me please.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 22:33

atlantis, yougov admit to making anti libdem statements BEFORE asking you who you'll vote for...don't you think that is wrong? whatever your political persuasion, don't you think that tarnishes their reputation for equity and unbias?

MollieO · 22/04/2010 22:34

The YouGov poll is utterly meaningless. DC won last week too and NC was 3rd.

Better to wait for some proper independent polls that ask non-biased questions.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 22/04/2010 22:34

Hmm, you see, atlantis, I am a member of Yougov. But I kept saying in their polls that I would vote Lib Dem... and now they don't send me political polls any more.

I get loads of those bloody ones about soap powder, pies and fruit juice though.

Heathcliffscathy · 22/04/2010 22:34

if you scroll down you'll see the statement from yougov admitting to the 'question' and stating that they should have asked the polling question first and that the slur 'was not for publication'. so before they ask you who you'll vote for, they make an anti libdem statement. it's not really unbiased polling is it?
