So who is actually going to VOTE Lib Dem then?

Because I reckon if everyone who says they agree most with the Lib Dems actually voted for them, they'd have a real chance. So how about it?

OP posts:
Pekkala · 16/04/2010 17:28

Me. I'm in a Liberal-held constituency (David Laws)and I want to make sure it stays that way.

nickelbabe · 16/04/2010 17:35

i think mine's a safe tory seat, but i have always always always voted libdem because they're the only ones who can bring real change (as opposed to passing the baton between the 2 parties decade after decade)

we need some fresh air.

and after last night, i feel so proud to be a libdem supporter!

and Nick Clegg was the only one who looked good in a suit. nice broad shoulders.

nickelbabe · 16/04/2010 17:37

ps don't forget it's libdem that wants voting reform, and constantly pushes it.

fluffles · 16/04/2010 17:37

i am going to because they lost to labour by just 400 votes in my constituency last time, no other party was anywhwere near so it's basically a lib dem, or labour decision.

TheFirstLady · 16/04/2010 17:39

I'm voting LibDem. I'm a Labour supporter, but living in a Lib Dem constituency with a strong Conservative challenger, so tactical voting is necessary. After last night, though, I actually found myself thinking I might have done it anyway.

BaDaBing · 16/04/2010 17:40

Silly question but how do you know the stats re your own mp and their margin over the other parties? Have moved to new area and would be very interested to get this info for my new neighbourhood. Thanks.

pinkteddy · 16/04/2010 17:54

Badabing - I think you might be able to get it on the BBC website here

pinkteddy · 16/04/2010 17:59

sorry you need to click on constituencies and enter your postcode - I linked to the wrong page.

fridayschild · 16/04/2010 18:09

I am voting Lib Dem. I have been a Lib Dem for ages, I have a Lib Dem MP and the odious Zac Goldsmith is the conservative candidate.

Clegg is pretty good I think and actually yes, I can imagine him at a G8 summit.

fotheringhay · 16/04/2010 18:16

Me

fluffles · 16/04/2010 18:24

BaDaBing - it used to be available on findyourmp.parliament.uk/ but they don't list them during the election because parliament is dissolve - sorry.

When did it close (or was that some technical problem outside your control) ?

moi. always was going to. vowed never to vote labour again when they took us to war illegally.

notnowbernard · 16/04/2010 20:01

I would, but LibDems currently polled in 4th position (brhind UKIP) in my constituency

So sadly feel it really would be a wasted vote

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 16/04/2010 20:01

I think that I will.

They have never represented us around here, but like OP says, if everyone who says that they support their policies actually votes for them then who knows!

gingerkirsty · 16/04/2010 20:03

Agree with OP, I think this year is the year they could get in if people vote for what they really believe in instead of for the lesser of 2 evils.

I will be voting Lib Dem - we're in a super-marginal Lib Dem/Conservative constituency (top 10 Conservative target). I've been told a bit half-heartedly by the Conservative candidate today that 'you don't have to vote for Gordon Brown to get him back in' ... it's definitely a concern, but I will NOT vote Conservative in a general election (candidate is actually quite a decent chap however).

cornsilk · 16/04/2010 20:09

possibly

GreenMonkies · 16/04/2010 20:11

It's not a wasted vote if you do use your vote though. If everyone who'd like to vote Lib Dem does vote Lib Dem, then it's not a wasted vote. It's only a wastedvite if you don't vote!!!!

MountTheFairy · 16/04/2010 20:25

I am voting LibDem. I can see Nick Clegg at the G8, and moreover, I see him with Barack Obama much more than either Cameron or Brown (well, I know Brown has already been there). LibDems are the only ones that can bring real change and they have a really good chance now. I would also be very happy to see Cable in charge of the economy. I am voting LibDem both locally and nationally. I can see that it may sometimes be necessary to do a strategic vote locally, but nationally it is never a vasted vote.

Gosh, I sound like a seasoned Lib Dem. The truth is I am not! This is the first time I will vote for them, but they have convinced me!

MountTheFairy · 16/04/2010 22:43

vasted wasted

omnishambles · 17/04/2010 09:25

I am - we've got a sign up and everything - we're in a lib dem marginal with a tory challenger parachuted in from head office who isnt local though grr so its an easy decision...

braveandcrazy · 17/04/2010 16:40

I shall reserve judgement on NC's international abilities until after the foreign policy debate I think.
