So who is actually going to VOTE Lib Dem then?

Because I reckon if everyone who says they agree most with the Lib Dems actually voted for them, they'd have a real chance. So how about it?

LouMacca · 16/04/2010 12:06

I'm voting LibDem for the first time.

Where I live LibDem and the Tories are neck and neck, there is no chance of Labour getting in here so my vote in the past has been a waste. I am voting LibDem mainly to stop the Tories getting in.

vesela · 16/04/2010 12:35

oh.my.giddy.aunt

An ITV/Com res poll has just come out showing the Lib Dems on 35%.

LAB24% - LIB 35% - CON 36%

4000 people, no more details as yet.

BikeRunSki · 16/04/2010 12:37

I will.

Dyed-in-the-wool labour voter all my life, and even the grass is red where I live.

I just can't vote for either of the other two though.

TheFallenMadonna · 16/04/2010 12:39

Me. But I always do, so they don;t gain anything there

anastaisia · 16/04/2010 12:40

I am - I was before the debate. I think our Lib Dem PPC, who has been a local councillor for years is the best option and may take the seat from the current Labour MP this time.

I'm glad that the debate has made people think of them as a serious option, but am concerned about people forgetting (in all three cases) that we don't have a President. It's great if people 'agree with Nick!' but we still have to vote for local MPs as well as considering the party the PPC belongs to.

TheFallenMadonna · 16/04/2010 12:42

Won't gain anyhting anyway - ultra safe tory seat. Grrr. Bring on the electoral reform.

ChickensHaveSinisterMotives · 16/04/2010 12:42

I will vote Lib Dem for the first time in this election. I am just so sick of the two 'main' parties spending all their time squabbling and sniping at each other. The Lib Dems seem to have some genuinely new ideas, and I think the whole system needs shaking up.

BertieBotts · 16/04/2010 12:43

I think I will, but I keep changing my mind. I come back to Lib Dem more than the others, though. Problem is where I live the history has been something like 40% conservative, 40.5% labour, 15% lib dem. So very competitive between labour/conservative and not much bother about lib dem.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/04/2010 12:47

Yes - I'm Lib-Dem anyway. I would vote Labour if they had a chance of kicking the Tory out round here.

whomovedmychocolate · 16/04/2010 12:55

They have no bloody chance of getting in here but I'm voting lib dem anyway.

strawberrycake · 16/04/2010 12:56

In my area the Tories have more votes than all the other parties put together! IT's hard to even get the will up to go and vote seeing how many Tory posters are in windows. I'll vote Lib Dem, but it barely matters.

vesela · 16/04/2010 13:01

ok, it's now been clarified that the poll above is the voting intentions of those who watched last night's debate. But still.

vesela · 16/04/2010 13:21

Now it's been adjusted, it's LD 24 (up 3), Lab 28 (down 1) Con 35 (no change).

WebDude · 16/04/2010 13:45

You could 'vote' for a question about PR on this site

If there was P.R. then every vote cast would count and we'd get away from claims that "voting for X is a 'wasted vote'"

If people who say "it won't matter" actually voted, then once again, after the election, the numbers would show (again) that "first past the post" isn't very democratic.

WebDude · 16/04/2010 13:49

I only came across that website recently when the Digital Economy Bill was about to be read (on the day the Election was announced, so news media covered Gordon Brown and others, and gave little time to the Bill being pushed through that same day, and then into the Lords on Wednesday 7th).

BakewellTarts · 16/04/2010 14:07

Just to say I will vote after all previous generations fought hard for my right to vote and I value it. I just know it will make sod all difference where I am. A system of fair votes is well overdue.

JustineMumsnet · 16/04/2010 15:12

Please vote in our 3rd election poll (if you haven't already)

Ta

mowcop · 16/04/2010 15:21

I am going to vote Lib Dem. I'm normally Labour, but don't agree with most of thier policies. TBH the main reason I vote is because the BNP are quite strong in my area and I would hate to not vote and let them in.

MrIC · 16/04/2010 15:45

I'm voting Lib Dem. they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning in my true-blue area, but that's no reason not to vote for them!

gizmo · 16/04/2010 15:53

I'm torn, tbh. I'm a historic long term LibDem voter in a LibDem seat with a new candidate, who I'm not too sure about.

But we're also the only UK seat where the Green party has even a marginal chance of landing an MP. I find the Green Party's policies exciting and would like to see them with an MP in a hung parliament to give them a chance to get the polices onto the political agenda.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/04/2010 16:08

me

mummytime · 16/04/2010 16:15

I'm in a once safe Tory seat (until they put a trust fund idiot in). Its now a top marginal Lib Dem/Tory. Will probably vote lib dem although the latest Tory has been good, DH is thinking of vaoting tactically Lib Dem to get Vince Cable in.

Nobody else has a chance here (if it was purely protest I'd probably vote Peace).

edwardcullensotherwoman · 16/04/2010 16:20

honestly I think I will. I can't see that either of the other 2 main parties can bring anything good to Britain tbh, and can't help feeling that the others would be a wasted vote. Haven't had anything through from the local Lib Dem candidate yet mind you, so I'll let that be my decider I think. Don't really like the sound of my local labour candidate - too false and nicey-nicey imo.

said · 16/04/2010 16:20

Me. But it is tactical and they will win here

braveandcrazy · 16/04/2010 17:10

NC did very well last night but can you imagine him at a G8 summit or at the Whitehouse debating the fight against terrorism with Barack?

And who will be in his cabinet? Vince of course - great, but what about Chris Huhne and God forbid Lembit

So I'm not sure whether to vote Lib Dem in the knowledge that he probably won't get in but at least I've made a point against the others and like his policies, or is that just daft?
