Why are no other parties putting forward candidates in the Clacton by election?

I understand that they do not want to participate in the Farage political stunt but if no one but Farage and Bin Face stand surely no one will vote in Bin Face? Then Farage gets back in? If only 2 people turn out to vote is that enough to get either one in?

I have tried to read what will happen but it just seems to be about not participating in this stunt with no explanation as to what happens then.

The other parties want the investigation to continue

Because it's a stunt, and our politicians are tired of his games.... let him run against nothing. I hope they find something on him and lock him up. Same as Richard Rice....lock them all up as they are all Russian plants.

You might laugh but our secret service isn't. Our democracy is under siege and we are in a dangerous crossroads. Our secret service is looking very hard to find the links between the Kremlin and Reform.

Our freedom is being used by very powerful people to undermine the foundation of democracy. Reform, Trump, Putin and Israel.

Israelis invited Farage and his team to talks in Israel. There has been trips to Russia as well. Then add some of the richest people in the world using social media to undermine policies.

Nigel is a Russian apologist and Putin must be very grateful he exists. But it would surprise me if he were a full on Russian plant, I don't think he's that good an actor.

Is your alter ego James Bond ?

Or maybe our "Secret Service" isn't so "secret" 🙄seeing as you claim to know all about this.

He might not know he is, you understand that people can be manipulated in other ways other than being recruited by the KGB. It might be money, business ties or simply a group of associates being influenced by pro Kremlin agents.

I doubt very much he's a KBG recruit and if he was he would have been found out. But powerful criminals are known for working with politicians through investments, shadow companies in the former eastern block.

Epstein being a classic example of people getting embroiled in a scandal that has links to some of the most powerful people in the world. There are links to the Kremlin and people like Mandleson were hooked without even knowing they are now KGB plants.

IonianNerveGrip · 12/07/2026 10:58

I wouldn't have used 'plant' for someone who's not doing it deliberately.

Portakalkedi · 12/07/2026 11:08

Such hypocrisy. Reform has offered to pay the costs at least. Don't remember Labour or Andy Burnham offering to pay for the unnecessary by-election they just had? And they know Farage will win. Still, the people of that constituency should be given more choice of candidates.

It’s against the rules, which they would have known when making the empty offer.

As the rules don't allow this, it was either utter ignorance on Reform's part or an empty offer to try and virtue signal to the ignorant. Neither of those things are to be admired.

But also, if you feel so strongly about voters in Clacton having more choices than they already do, stand yourself on a platform of voting with one of the other major parties in Parliament. Greens, Labour, Tories, whatever. The deposit and 10 signatures shouldn't be a problem if you take to social media. There's loads of people on there slagging off the other parties for not standing, and obviously all of them are doing that because they really care about electoral choice rather than because they don't want Farage to look a twat. So no doubt they'll put their money where their mouths are.

The real reason is that they have no chance of winning - all the rest is just grandstanding,

Surely that's the case of most parties in most constituencies?

My constituency is a two-horse race, yet everyone has a go.

If no one else has a chance of winning then it's really Farage doing the grandstanding. If he does win, hopefully the investigation into his shady dealings will continue.

Yes, I think that would be a more accurate description. Or useful idiot for at least some of his stances, such as that on Ukraine. I do think it's worth being as precise as possible with language here, because there's a lot of ways to be doing things that make the Kremlin happy.

I mean, I could offer to pay the costs.
It's not allowed.

Do you understand what’s democratically difficult about a candidate who is running in an election, paying for that election?

There’s a very, very obvious reason why that’s not allowed.

SinnerBoy · 12/07/2026 14:59

So it seems that Clacton will be a gang of loonies, standing for election.

Versus Count Binface.

Not the same at all! What’s the point of resigning if you immediately put yourself forward to take the role you had before you resigned?!

Go home, you’re drunk

They are not allowed to pay for the by election and I'm sure one of them were able to work that dodge out before the 'offer' was made.

I'm not going to post it because I don't want to spoil the mystique 😂but I saw a film of Count Binface (or his alter ego) debating at the Cambridge Union. He is one smart guy and IMO would make a good MP. He doesn't seem to have had the easiest start in life and clearly applied himself to study at school, rather than racially abusing his schoolmates.

NF and Co can go away with this 'establishment' nonsense.

Lol this is what we're up against. Reform are either too stupid to know that it would be illegal to use party funds to fund an election, or they knew full well that there was absolutely no danger they'd have to follow through on this supposed offer.

And yet, their followers lap it up.
