Would you vote for them? And do you think they would do a good job?

  • Robert Jenrick, Chancellor
  • Richard Tice, Business, Trade and Energy
  • Zia Yusuf, Home Affairs
  • Suella Braverman, Education & Skills, Equality

Braverman wanting to get rid of the Equality Act is a real head scratcher from her.

Which will unfortunately have some support because people tend to focus on the race protected characteristic and it will appeal to their silent racism, or belief that white people are treated less favourably.

What is it about holding left wing views, a sense of moral superiority maybe, that means it's almost always the left wingers who descend to personal attack, both on other posters and on the subjects political discussions?

Is it simply to much to ask of some left wingers to make a civilised contribution to a debate?

Just to be sure, you are claiming that right wing tosspots never indulge in personal attacks ?

AluckyEllie · 19/02/2026 15:13

It’s baffling that so many working class people support reform- literally the tree voting for the axe.
Getting rid of the equality act, keeping triple lock on pensions, praising the recent actions in Argentina- they want us as serfs working for food and lodging.

🤔

Well, we are told they do.

Never? No that's not what I wrote.

In my personal experience, though, it's far more common for left wingers (presumably feeling that they hold the moral high ground) to throw around the strongest insults of the politicians being discussed, like "cunt" used about Suella Braverman in the post I reacted to, and the strongest personal attacks on the posters expressing right wing views or the members of the public supporting right wing parties.

Working class people supporting the more right wing of the political parties is not new. The 1979 general election is an example.

All this huffing and puffing - wait for the May elections - it’s the ballot box that counts and no amount of middle class women moaning and groaning are going to change the results.

Hi Greggggggggggggggg.

Happyher · 19/02/2026 20:25

He didn’t really have a lot to choose from. One isn’t elected or a Lord, 2 are failed disgraced Tories and the other lives in the UAE. 30p Lee doesn’t even get a look in and Pochin’s rumoured to be defecting to Restore Britain. Great bunch!

What's your opinion of our current business secretary having no experience of working in a business that contributes any money to the running of the country?

It doesn't matter because Tice running a business in property is not going to have any understanding of running a business e.g involved in high tech security equipment, exporting to USA and the EU.

What matters is policy, the quality of the advisers appointed and leadership of the party.

Seaitoverthere · 20/02/2026 08:09

I try not to think about Farage in any capacity as am not great at handling feelings of nausea.

Zonder · 17/02/2026 17:13

He just needs Patel and Badenoch and he would have the very worst of the previous Tory govt.

I did think this must be maddening for Badenoch as she’s one of those types ie ultra right wing and self serving. She can hardly defect from the party she leads, but I bet she would have otherwise.

Teasandcoffees · 20/02/2026 09:11

chortle they did a crap job while in government, why do you think they'd do a good one in opposition. If they get the votes that is....

Admittedly they were good at putting the boot into everyone else while being useless previously so 🤷‍♀️

It does matter.

The Business secretary needs to understand how to create a profit, what the stresses on business managers and owners of needing to create a profit are, and what the government needs to do and not do to create an environment where businesses can create a profit.

Working in the charity sector is not a good foundation for that.

But with Labour, profit is a dirty word, they think costs like the minimum wage increases can simply be absorbed by owners/shareholders taking a bit less profit, and they call increasing public spending "growth" because it increases GDP.

GateauSVP · 20/02/2026 09:16

I just figure that the people that vote for them deserve every bit of misery that Reform will inflict. We personally will be OK regardless. I feel sorry for those who are opposed to Reform. But the voters deserve the mess they are going to impose on the rest of us.

Smeuse · 20/02/2026 09:17

It's a band of ex Tories who broke the country. Jenrick just rehashed the previous Tory budgets.

She must have FOMO when her like minded former colleagues have jumped ship and she can't.

Interesting. I think they actually call minimum wage increases treating people fairly for the work they do.

I doubt it. She has a rating that goes up where Starmer and others go down.

Reference to Greggg Wallace, who claimed it was middle-aged women complaining about him. The comment that I quoted reminded me of this.

Badenoch is 'ultra right wing'?

She looked rather pleased when Jenrick defected, he's Reform's problem now, not hers. I also doubt she will miss Braverman.
