Having just spent 25 minutes that I won't get back, watching the launch speech before I formed an opinion, and then the thread being removed I was left with some thoughts I wanted to put down somewhere. So here we go.
I think amongst all the waffle and fearmongering of which there was a lot,
There were some quite scary snippets.

Reverse immigration presumably ala some sort of u.k version of ICE. Surely nobody is looking across the pond and thinking that sounds like a fab idea lets give that a go.

He wants to staff the government with people who are heads of their fields but have no prior experience in parliment, which on the face of it sounds ideal but I don't think I would have much confidence in a government that has no idea what its supposed to be doing, as far as I am aware there arent any "So youve been elected now what." style training videos

He stated that he wanted to burn down regulatory framework in businesses, yes everyone hates red tape, but again this smacks of trump and getting rid of Fema etc. Regulations are written usually after its become apparent that they are needed, this along with twice mentioning being risk averse as if it were a bad thing and that employers would no longer be blackmailed by HR screams a large scale scrapping of employee rights.

He stated that he wanted to reindustrialise britain, rely on our own energy this is obviously positive but, when he said it my first thought was oh god they are going to try and bring coal back.

There was an interesting slip almost when talking about families He started with MEN and women like we were tagged on the end and almost forgotten about

Then we had lots about returning to being a christian country baning the burka stopping halal slaughter and getting rid of sharia law, which as far as I know we dont have in this country. Which just felt like throwing an Islamophobic bone to get the racists to focus on that and slip the rest through without notice.

The whole thing felt like a page out of trumps play book along with the idea of returning to a nostalgic time which never actually existed he even said that british people were the best in the world MAGA anyone?

That said I think personally the best thing they can do is continue to exist, split the votes and ensure that none of the right/far right parties get a look in

Sorry its quite garbled I don't really follow politics but i don't feel that we can afford to not pay attention. I would be interested to hear back from people who support this new party particularly in regards to the employment rights.

Lowe is a pound shop Farage, who in turn is a pound shop Trump.

I doubt he'll ever get anywhere near power, thankfully. He has 0 political experience and it shows.

Thank you for the summary OP.

Employment rights, as a business owner I can comment = the more difficult and expensive you make it as a business to employ people, and the more tax and regulations you have to comply with to do so, the more barriers that are added, the less people you will employ. Simple really, so Rupert Lowe is correct here.

I feel sorry for younger people trying to get onto the ladder, many who are now an unaffordable proposition for smaller businesses.

Labours workers rights bill and extra NIC have meant that we have paused our recruitment campaign later last year and also have had to rise prices to our customers to reflect increasing costs to the business. Same with other business owners I know. We are instead looking into AI and/or remote freelance workers based abroad to improve productivity. Such a shame that Labour just don't understand how hard it is to run a business in the current climate.

Yes, who lasted how many months before he had a big public falling out with the party he was elected to represent? Now he's the leader of a new party and thinks he can become PM.

I shall rephrase and say he has got very limited political experience and is not qualified to think he can run the UK.

But what does qualify you to run the UK? Being a WEF young global leader perhaps? Or a member of the Fabian Society like Starmer?

Starmer wasn't a WEF young global leader, was he? Not sure what is wrong with either of those organisations, anyway? They are hardly secret societies. I know there are conspiracy theories about both organisations though.

Oh yeah, because some journalist said so, you must be right then. Meanwhile Starmer prefers to be loyal to the elite in Davos rather than the electorate who voted him in:

It makes sence to want someone qualified to be running departments of the government. You wouldn't want a head teacher running a hospital would you or a nurse teaching you children mathematics? I dont get why you think having someone qualified is a bad idea? You dont need to be qualified in politics to be a politician, one the big problems we have is to many career politicians getting into parliament. You dont promote a paramedic to be the head of the British army do you? 😂

Red tape needs taking down in almost every industry, on large projects like tunnels it can cost billions to build nothing and to try and work around different regulations.

Nostalgic time that never existed? Wouldn't you want to go back to the time when in less than a few years a couple could buy a house and the nhs worked? Is that not nostalgic? Is that not something you would want to go back to?

Men in todays society have been forgotten about in many ways. Who has the highest suicide rates? I dont think its a massive deal thats he has mentioned men before women. Rupert lowe has done a lot for women who are victims of rape or sexual abuse and rightfully so.

PandoraSocks · 16/02/2026 19:12

What he said was that he preferred Davos because:

"Westminster is just a tribal, shouting place"

"Once you get out of Westminster, whether Davos or anywhere, you engage with people"

But of course it has been spun into something sinister by the conspiracy theory types and Reformites. It is nothing at all sinister.

So if you have an A level in politics you can run the country? but if you have run successfull busineses you cant?

I do find it funny (and fortunate, please do split the far right vote) that Elon Musk seems to be throwing himself behind this. He's so clueless about the actual situation in the UK because he gets all his news off X.

TBH I don't see this party getting anywhere - Reform only has momentum because so many people still like Farage for some reason.

Clueless? OK so what has caused the issues in the uk then?

Oh boy I remember not that long ago a crazy thread about the Fabian society where some people seemed to think it was like the Freemasons on speed.

I am not sticking up for Starmer, I am not actually a massive fan of his. I am just stating facts.

As you "seriously question" my "judgement and motives" there is no point engaging further.

Well I am only going off of what I heard today so in regards to the housing and nhs, he didn't say anything about heavily taxing buy to let landlords, or funding mass council house building projects. Or indeed anything to do with the NHS unless you count possibly booting out drs and nurses if they aren't of a "British" origin, which I can only assume would have a detrimental impact on waiting list times. But if you know more about his plans for reducing house prices and funding the nhs Im all ears.

I don't think that business works the same as a country in one you have to be looking out for the business first and foremost. A country doesn't work like that or at least doesnt function well. Ideallly you want to be looking out for everyone and making sure the have nots have at least enough. So no I don't think business is a good background for politics. A head teacher can run a school but they can't run all the schools their input is invaluable but it needs to be mixed with whats possible.

Men have absolutely not been forgotten about. Whats happened I think is that everyone is catching up to them so while the world used to look up to them now they look across to them. Their opinion is as valid as everyone elses. And while not being in front anymore can look like their losing in reality things are just starting to equalise.
With regards to male suicide whilst the stats are concerning I am noticing men are starting to help men more there are local groups around here popping up for walking sports gaming etc. I think part of society equalising will mean that men have more agency for their own mental health and that can only be seen as a good thing.

I did look into Lowes work with rape victims but can only find the inquiry he has set up do you have any more information on that as I would like to be better informed.

So who should be the head of education or the health secretary? Just anyone? Buisness works the exact same as a county, how do you think thats the country makes money? How do you think the country pays for public services? How do you think the country pays to look after everyone? With buisness. Its businesses big and small who pay tax, its businesses who pay wages. 🙄

Just a couple google searches and you can see what he has done. Hes funded an enquiry into the rape gangs. Donates his MP wage to charity and local community. Recently he payed for the local scout hut to be painted as an example. Hes a good man.
