This is from The Times today. I don't think this is good enough behaviour from a Prime Minister. Do you? He should have been in the Chamber and taken the flack.
Will you still support Labour?

I think he’s doing a great job and exactly what we need right now.
just quietly getting on with the job, leaving appointed people to do their jobs.

Chagos was set up by the conservatives after it was advised we return it. holding onto land that doesn’t want to be held onto isn’t a good look in this climate!

china visit, of course he had to go and visit a huge trading partner. Weve fucked over Europe and America has proved un trustworthy. So protecting those we have is hugely sensible for our economy.

he’s stood up to trump over our troops and remained diplomatic with him when needed. It’s a tightrope he’s managing fairly well given how unpredictable he is. We don’t need strong and volatile.

We would paying the mauritians to take the islands whilst the actual chagosians have been forced to move to the UK. Then we would have to lease the land back from the mauritian government oh and also tell them everytime we launched anything from there.

China is literally building a spy embassy, he keeps saying that he secured billions in investment but all I can see is pharmaceutical companies from the UK investing in China.

It’s like reading “The Pravda” around here sometimes. He’s fucking useless but I’m worried if he goes he’ll be replaced by Angela Rayner and have no idea how that would go.

I actually think he’s the worst prime minister we’ve had and I was one of the people who thought the tories needed to go away and have a good hard think for a bit.

Dragonflytamer · 04/02/2026 11:43

It was Labour who kicked the Chagosians out of Chagos to Mauritius in the first place.

JoyintheMorning · 04/02/2026 12:11

@Bringemout As a Tory I can assure you that we are all having a good long think about where we are and policy.

He’s squirming at PMQs

JoyintheMorning · 04/02/2026 12:17

Eastern, he often does

I usually avoid it as he’s so excruciating to listen to but he’s up against it. Kemi is clear and strong in comparison.

Times Radio is good as it goes through each response, he’s doing badly.

JoyintheMorning · 04/02/2026 12:25

Kemi was not the strongest when she started was she? But she has learned and is now quite strong and she hasn't lost her rag with him either. She can have a short fuse I read.

Starmer is a hypocrite who is completely lacking in morals and integrity. He's also weak, cowardly and utterly incapable. A global laughing stock.

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 12:36

Times summing up if that was it has the end of days feel and there’s no coming back for Starmer and top of gov.

Mischance · 04/02/2026 12:38

His supporters keep comparing him to Boris and Truss. They are a very low standard to use as comparators. (and I'm a Tory member)

The comparisons are important because, however flawed one might see Starmer as being, it is vital that we look at the alternatives. Johnson and Truss are indeed a very low standard, but who is there around about whom one could not also say the same thing? No-one.

My question to you would be: Why continue to be "a Tory" if they are so messed up? Tribal allegiances can be broken when the tribe has gone down the pan.

That's why so many voters are moving from the mainstream parties to Reform. the 20th century legacy parties are all shit so we need to catch up with the 21st century.

EasternStandard · 04/02/2026 12:50

I am not a Labour supporter in the sense of belonging to that or indeed any other party. I do not feel the need to join a tribe. I look at what is happening at any point in time and vote accordingly.
I am looking at the current situation and can see that Labour is the best we have at present. The alternatives do not come up to scratch.

explanationplease · 04/02/2026 13:45

I imagine you have an alternative party interest in mind.

Mischance · 04/02/2026 13:47

The main reason I am currently supporting the government is because they have some integrity and social conscience, things that are sadly lacking elsewhere. Reform has none at all.

If Farage does become PM, how long will he survive the level of scrutiny Starmer is under?

Even with Starmer, McSweeney, Mandelson and Epstein ties?

I think it’ll be a shrinking pool who stick with them

It depends if he makes as many idiotic decisions as Starmer does.

Tryingtokeepgoing · 04/02/2026 15:23

peanutbuttertoasty · 04/02/2026 09:57

People keep saying how impressive he is on the world stage. What’s he done that’s so great exactly?

As someone who lives outside the UK, and travels a fair bit I have to say that the view that Starmer is impressive on the world stage is definitely not held by most of those outside the UK. It's a bit of Labour spin as far as I can see. He is mainly laughed at... Articles such as 'Why can't Starmer afford to buy his own clothes', 'why does the British PM always misjudge those around him', 'why does he always look like an outsider at international events', 'why does he always claim deals that are never quite as they seem'. He's seen as untrustworthy basically

And, as with Mandelson, there's a degree of incredulity that he can be bought so cheaply...

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 04/02/2026 15:40

rafeal · 04/02/2026 10:22

I’m not anti Starmer in terms of his individual politics. My complaint is can’t be strong when he needs to be. But that is very difficult now when any one can whip up a storm in any direction at a moments notice. He’s just on the too bendy side of diplomatic and reasonable. I wouldn’t want him replaced.

He is also the best Labour can offer right now. Burnham wouldn’t get elected, however darling he is to the left, as the general mood in the country is simply not any further to the left despite wrangling over benefits etc.

The Greens are much further to the left and are becoming increasingly popular.

Maddy70 · 04/02/2026 16:03

He is more than capable. It's refreshing to have less of a showman and someone just getting on with the job

You must be missing a lot to say this.

JoyintheMorning · 04/02/2026 16:16

Capable? Go through all the spin and bollocks and promises before the election about energy costs.
Oil is pretty cheap at the moment but are we using more of it? NO.
Are our energy costs reducing? NO.
Are energy costs likely to come down in this next 12 months? Unlikely.
Did the Government pay millions to Wind Farms to stop generating YES Why? because they built Wind and Solar generators miles from where the energy is needed and have not increased the capacity of the network to cope with this extra. Will we have more pylons and more cables in the next two years? NO
Solar panels produced by slave and forced labour! NOT on My Roof. I will not be party of that. I would rather burn my furniture to keep warm.
Is that the mark of a man who is even adequate?
