Corbyn’s new party

Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana have confirmed the launch of a new hard-Left party to fight Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour.

The former Labour leader and his fellow now-independent MP said it was “time for a new kind of political party” in a statement on Thursday.

The pair have invited voters to sign up to the Left-wing faction via the website yourparty.uk, although The Telegraph understands the new project will not be called Your Party and that its name is to be confirmed.

Will this split the Labour vote? What do we all think?

Yes definitely, I imagine the polling will be reform, conservative, labour, mentalist party.

hiintrepidheroes · 24/07/2025 15:22

I’m glad to see a party finally try and take action about Israel. But I’m sure all the people on here talking about how awful genocide is will suddenly be ok with it just to be against Corbyn.

Not everything is about Gaza, Brits are allowed to worry about the state of their own country too.

hiintrepidheroes · 24/07/2025 15:28

All things this party will be campaigning for, recognising NHS is on its knees and education needs serious help. It’s got to be better than Starmer cutting EHCPs etc.

RigIt · 24/07/2025 15:31

Is it a “hard left” party? I wouldn’t trust the Torygraph’s assessment!

Exactly. However hard centrists, the establishment, and right wingers try and realign positions of political theory (to their own ends), the reality is that socialism is only slightly left of centre.

Interesting that Starmer has just appointed COO of News UK (Sun, Times et al) as his new comms person. I imagine there's going to be lots of BS coming out in an attempt to paint this new party as some kind of steroid injected Stalinism 2.0 🙄

hiintrepidheroes · 26/07/2025 18:40

Yep. It’s sad because rather than actually listening to people and taking action on issues that affect people (education, care, NHS) it’s easier to spread lies and misinformation to slate a party that wants to help.

It’ll be interesting to see Starmer insisting arming Israel and not doing anything about aid being blocked to starving children is better than Corbyn actively being against it and demanding action.

Talk about Corbyn and co being dangerous for the economy will be rich after Liz Truss and chaos under the last Tory government. They’ll have to come up with new lies or hope people have short memories.

Ladamesansmerci · 26/07/2025 18:42

I signed up as soon as I saw it!

ColadhSamh · 26/07/2025 19:15

'The children of Gaza are starving.
Not because the world couldn't help but because the world refused to help'

Jeremy Corbyn, 26 July 2025.

I honestly don't know enough of what he stands for or what he is going to (or claiming that he will ) do. If he shouts the loudest with things that people want to hear then I imagine people will turn to him because at the minute the country is just going round in circles.

I think you are seriously underestimating his popularity and the strength of feeling amongst huge swathes of the public on issues like Gaza, the NHS, education and SEND.

Many will vote for him. Its going to be a “proper” left party, which labour should of been instead of going right. 🙄
It wont spilt votes, they have a good chance of being elected in by popularity anyway.

Yep, me too, because Labour have lost their way, gone too far right.Just don’t know who they are anymore.

SunnyPrague · 26/07/2025 20:27

They’ll definitely take votes from Labour - I think there might be an overlap with green voters too.

I read that the Greens may join but have no idea if that could happen. It's obviously a concern that it will take votes from Labour and give more votes to the right but unfortunately Labour have lost their way.

We need action on housing, the NHS, social care, schools, welfare and poverty. It's disgraceful that a third of children are living in poverty and millions use food banks.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 26/07/2025 22:06

As a Tory voter this is gold dust. Long may he split the left.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 26/07/2025 22:07

Genuinely, why are people so upset about Gaza but not Sudan etc? Why are human rights on foreign shores a British problem when it's Gaza but not China, some African countries etc?

No Jews, no news.

Maybe this new party will finally rid the Labour Party of anti-semitism. There just won't be much of it left.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 27/07/2025 12:43

I think we're on course for a coalition next time around.

I'd look to your own movement first...

SilenceOfTheTimTams · 27/07/2025 13:02

Right. You're in. Listen. The only people we hate more than the Romans are the fucking Judean People's Front.
^^
Yeah...
^^
Splitters.
^^
Splitters...
^^
And the Judean Popular People's Front.
^^
Yeah. Oh, yeah. Splitters. Splitters...
^^
And the People's Front of Judea.
^^
Yeah. Splitters. Splitters...”

It’ll be plain sailing for this new hard left party. They always stick together. 🙄

What does 'hard left' mean?

EasternStandard · 27/07/2025 13:16

In answer to the question in the op yes it will take some Labour voters

You’re genuinely unsure? Hmm.

Ok, I’ll bite. A party that pursues policies that are beyond the pale for the ‘soft left’ of Labour. Think Socialist Workers’ Party, Stop the War, PSC etc.
