Who would you vote for in a general election tomorrow?

If the next GE was tomorrow, who would you vote for? I've been unimpressed at decisions made by Labour since they came in and just don't have much faith in their long term plans. I've never even considered voting Tory, but also don't really see Labour doing much more to improve things for anyone. Will be interesting to see how things are in a few years time when the next GE comes round. Am I missing some really good stuff Labour are implementing?

In my area, I'd have to vote Tory as I'm fed up with Labour and wouldn't vote Lib Dem. If there's a Reform candidate I'm not voting for them either. That would only leave Tory.

I can't get my head around why anyone would vote Reform. How can you look at Trump's America and think, 'yeah, I want some of that here'?

Heck, just look at how they're running councils. Putting 18 year olds in charge of child welfare services!

What Reform policies are the same as the Republicans out of interest?

Who knows? Reform is extraordinarily coy about its policies.

Exactly.

TheNuthatch · 08/07/2025 11:39

Labour were also 'coy' in the GE campaign. Didn't stop them winning.

If you call a 136 page, fully costed manifesto coy. It doesn’t fit my definition.

No, I would call it a big fat lie, but each to their own.

BIossomtoes · 08/07/2025 11:43

So not coy then.

ModerateOrGoodOccasionallyPoor · 08/07/2025 11:43

I really like Kemi Badenoch and I would love to support her, but I'm afraid it would have to be Reform. I think we've come too far down the wrong road on so many issues that no-one else can be trusted to do what's absolutely necessary to bring us back from the brink.

People still voting Labour!

Stockholm syndrome doesn't even cover it. Madness.

If you're interested in the reality of what is happening about the illegal boats and asylum seekers/economic migrants (rather than the gaslighting happening) , this is worth a watch(Im hoping I have managed to copy it).

It's fairly terrifying, just to.warn everyone. And means Labour are out in 2029 I think.

Forget 2029. The country cannot withstand 4 more years of this.

Who’s voting Labour? I haven’t had a chance to vote anything since May and much of the population hasn’t had the opportunity to vote for a year.

It was certainly alluring to some. Their shtick was - we are not the tories. That's all it took. Within weeks of coming into office, they cut WFA. Where was that it their 136 page fully costed manifesto?

Reform's shtick will be - we are not labour or the tories. It seems to be working.

See you don’t like it when Reform voters are called stupid but you’re happy to call people who don’t agree with you mad. Double standards much?

I don't think i've said anything about that, there were posts saying that calling Reform voters stupid is self-defeating.

Anyone still voting Labour needs their heads testing as far as i'm concerned.

Personally i'm not actually for any party and wouldn't know who to vote for, but i'd spoil my paper or vote for an independent before voting for Labour. That party needs obliterating along with the Conservatives.

Boris? Truss?

minsmum · 08/07/2025 14:10

The trouble with all the parties is the quality of the politicians, they seem to be career politicians who haven't moved past student politics. They just want to hold onto power but don't appear to have any vision for the country

And the Tories were voted out for it.

Fringle · 08/07/2025 18:44

So the junior - sorry, resident - doctors have voted by 9:1 to strike. The rejected offer was 5.4% after 22% awarded last year.

Uh oh. This could be horrible for Labour.

At least the Tories took it on the chin. They lost votes for trying to get the public sector to live within its means. Labour thought they’d bought off public sector unrest. Fools.

Labour were very quick to boast that they had ended the strikes.

Is anyone surprised that they have come back for more? That's what happens when you pay ransoms.

The past week has demonstrated yet again Starmer's weakness and lack of leadership. It didn't take long for someone to take advantage of that.

Labour has a chance to demonstrate who they are with Thames Water's many issues. Enough of taking tax payer and customer's money to put it in their pockets. They have not invested in the infraestructure in their sites, not kept up with technology, then failed to provide the service they are paid for. But still pay themselves millions in bonuses. This is the kind of corporation we need to take our hard earn money out. Tax them, strip of assets and profits, fine them. Get the flipping money back.

Money was paid out from loan meant to stabilise firm’s finances weeks before it paused retention payments plan
