Why are Israels nukes never mentioned

During the recent bombing of Iran, I have not heard any mention of Israels nuclear weapons. They are not publicly acknowledged or part of the IAEA inspections, yet Israel and the US have the right to decide what other countries do....? Please don't tell me how horrendous Iran is. Its not carrying out a genocide as far as I can tell....

Israel is considered an ally, therefore it is not criticised for breaking the law. Governments have turned a blind eye for decades but the EU have muttered something about it breaking the rules, so something may be afoot there.

TheGrimSmile · 23/06/2025 23:02

Because if anyone dares to say anything about Israel it's antisemitic.

Jerrypicker · 23/06/2025 23:10

You don’t have to commit genocide to be horrendous. There are other ways to be horrendous.

RainbowsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 23/06/2025 23:58

Because maintaining the power balance between first generation nuclear powers was, and is, predicated on the understanding that no one wanted to be the first to push the red button. To do so would almost certainly guarantee the aggressor’s own annihilation. No-one wins, so no one pushes the button.
The Iranian regime has a diametrically opposite mindset. It is not interested in maintaining the existing power balance. If, at its core, your ideology mandates killing those who do not share it and assures you martyrdom if you die doing so, your own death (or that of millions of your fellow believers) is not going to stop you pressing that red button.

Yassnass134 · 24/06/2025 00:07

It is ridiculous. Israel never had any intention of sharing to the world that they possessed nuclear weapons. One of their own whistle-blew at the time as they were developing extensive weaponry. It is still know known how much war heads they acquire and what their nuclear programmes look like. They are the only country to have denied any inspections. Very fishy and they definitely should NOT have them!

First, because technically it's sort of "secret." It's not been officially admitted.
Second, because it's not an issue with Israel, as it is with some countries, because generally Israel has shown commendable restraint. Historically, they neither threaten (unlike, say, Russia) nor have they seemed to be governed by unstable hate-mongers (Iran).
Although all the world is decrying Israel's current viciousness toward Gaza, people need to remember that Gaza was the instigator, and indeed the brutal "government" of Gaza has largely been focused not on helping their own people, but on attacking Israel.
And, no, it's certainly not a genocide. If you want an example of a genocide, that would be the Palestinian wish to wipe Israel off the map.

HeddaGarbled · 24/06/2025 01:15

And even though Russia threaten (obliquely), they don’t actually do. No one trusts that Iran will show the same restraint.

Except the USA (alone) has pushed the red button - twice - and they are still there as a powerful country.

I don't think anybody disagrees that Iran is a dangerous threat; but very often, being very bad does not automatically make your enemy very good, regardless of what they actually do.

You disagree with Irans leadership, fine, but do we get to bomb NUCLEAR SITES because we disagree with their governments? You like Saudis government? But they are our 'friends'. The hypocrisy stinks!!
Why is Israel special? Because it genocides at will?

Israel literally murdered the Iranian negotiatiors and Iran are the maniacs!! If nuclear weapons are a deterrent then Iran has had its mind made up for them....

Surely you could ask this question of any country with nukes. Why focus on Israel?

International Law is meaningless. There is no world policeman to enforce it. Powerful countries flout it whenever they want.

The only genocidal mindset? Not the various proxies that Iran funds whose stated missions are to wipe out Israel, or even Jewish people as a whole?

I've seen no proof of that.... nothing. Having worked all over the middle east....I've seen nothing but generosity to Christians and Jews.

So Iran don't fund Hamas or Hezbollah? That's quite a claim considering they dont exactly make a secret of it.

TheAmusedPinkPoster · 10/07/2025 10:08

What are you talking about? I see them mentioned all the time.
