Farage backtracks on claim he was advised not to hold constituency surgeries

Farage isn't holding surgeries in his constituency and said it was because the government told him not to. He's since said that isn't true. His constituency can't get hold of him.

This was entirely predictable, he's renowned for not doing the job. The problem is his constituency is one of the most deprived in the UK. It seems they have no representation.

The trip he was asked about was the declared trip. In other interviews he avoided answering, then said he got a lift on a friends plane and finally on Times radio he claimed he paid for it himself.

The records show otherwise.

Gosh, Farage lying. Who would have thought. That pesky register of interests catching him out.

You are making things up Duncin.

I've just listened to the Times Radio interview from yesterday morning - Farage wasn't specifically asked about the declared trip in July - it was a more general discussion around his attendance at Trump rallies;

"You're an MP who's been in the States alongside Donald Trump at rallies..."

The presenter played a clip from 2016. At one point she says;

"Can I check really quickly Nigel, have any of your flights to the US ever been paid by someone who wasn't you?"

Farage
"Not if I was going to actively involve myself in the Trump campaign, no."

Presenter
"OK, so there's a difference there?"

Farage
"Of course..."

"When I've appeared on stage with Trump at rallies etc. I've always paid my own way..."

In July he said he was going to listen to Trump's acceptance speech at the convention - that's not active campaigning.

He certainly is careful with how he phrases things.

They've got what they asked for unfortunately for them. Is he the MP for Jaywick? How shameful if he is.

Zonder · 26/10/2024 14:06

He is indeed MP for Jaywick. Although I'm not sure he is aware of that.

newnamethanks · 26/10/2024 14:08

Shame he can't be compelled to live there amongst the people he represents.

Zonder · 26/10/2024 14:15

What have they done to deserve that?

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2024 14:48

Voted for him?

Zonder · 26/10/2024 15:20

Well yes, there is that!
